Chapter 6 : Chapter 6
Chapter 6. The Might of Upward Slash! A Little Loli?
Only the scar-faced burly man lay on the ground, clutching his chest and letting out painful groans.
His face was filled with disbelief and shock.
Wu You maintained the finishing stance of his Upward Slash, shaking his wrist as if he had merely done something trivial.
He glanced at the scar-faced burly man lying on the ground questioning his entire life.
Then he looked at the man’s companions, who were equally petrified.
Finally, his gaze returned to the iron sword in his hand.
In a voice only he could hear, he muttered softly.
“Tsk, Upward Slash… after going out for a while, your temper has really grown, huh? But…”
The corner of his mouth lifted slightly.
“Well done!!!”
Hahahahaha!
If you are not arrogant, how can you be called a Demon from Beyond the Heavens!
Just wait, you damned goddess!!!
In his mind, the icon for Enhanced Upward Slash flickered faintly, transmitting a proud and haughty thought as if saying, “Hmph, of course. Do you even know who I am?”
Meanwhile, the other skills also sent restless emotions—“Let us try next,” “It should be our turn,” “I will do it next time.”
Wu You sheathed his sword and walked over to the still dumbfounded receptionist.
He knocked on the counter and revealed a pure and harmless smile.
“Um, miss, can you help me register now? Oh right, the one on the ground… please handle him for me. He said we should follow a swordsman’s rules.”
He paused for a moment, then added with a bright smile.
“The loser has to kneel and kowtow while admitting their mistake and saying ‘I am trash.’ Everyone heard it, right?”
The hall remained silent.
Everyone’s eyes were fixed on the seemingly harmless E-Rank Basic Swordsman who had sent a swordsman of the same level flying with a single strike.
Their gazes were filled with shock, confusion, and a faint trace of awe.
No matter where you go, strength is the only real truth.
The scar-faced burly man was helped up by his companions.
His face alternated between red and pale as he stared at Wu You, his lips trembling.
His companions were as quiet as cicadas in winter, not daring to say a single word.
“What is it?”
Wu You crossed his arms and looked at him leisurely.
“Who was it that said earlier, ‘Let us follow the swordsman’s rules’? Do those rules still count?”
The scar-faced burly man clenched his teeth so tightly that the veins on his forehead bulged.
Under the watchful eyes of everyone present, if he tried to deny it now, he could forget about ever surviving in the adventurer circles again.
“I…”
He squeezed the words out through clenched teeth, his voice as quiet as a mosquito.
“I… I was wrong…”
“I cannot hear you.”
Wu You dug at his ear.
“I was wrong!”
The scar-faced burly man suddenly raised his voice, his face turning the color of pig liver.
“And?”
Wu You reminded him.
The burly man’s body trembled violently.
The humiliation nearly drowned him.
Under countless gazes, his knees suddenly gave way.
THUD.
He fell to his knees on the ground.
Facing Wu You’s direction, he slammed his forehead against the ground three times, shouting at the top of his lungs.
“I am trash!!!”
After shouting that, he scrambled to his feet and shoved through the crowd without looking back, rushing out of the guild’s main doors.
His companions followed behind him in disgrace.
The hall remained quiet for a few seconds before erupting into even louder commotion.
There were gasps of amazement, murmured discussions, and countless eyes once again focusing on Wu You, filled with curiosity.
Wu You ignored all of it.
He turned around and faced the receptionist behind the counter again.
His expression returned to that look of “I am just a passerby.”
“So, can I register now?”
“Y-Yes! Of course you can!”
The receptionist snapped back to her senses, her eyes shining.
She quickly took out a form and the lowest-tier Black Iron badge.
“Name, class, level…”
“Wu You, E-Rank Basic Swordsman.”
“Alright, Mr. Wu You. This is your adventurer badge! As a newly registered adventurer, you may accept F-Rank and E-Rank missions. Here is the list of missions suitable for your current level…” the receptionist explained enthusiastically.
Wu You glanced over the list.
Every single one of them was something like “Gather Hemostatic Herbs,” “Deliver a letter to the neighboring village,” or “Clear pests from farmland.”
The rewards were pitifully low.
He frowned slightly, and his stomach growled at just the right moment.
“Do you have anything… that makes money faster? For example, clearing monsters or something like that?” he asked.
After all, the skills in his mind were crying out for food.
Ordinary gathering missions could not possibly satisfy their appetite.
“Clearing monsters?”
The receptionist hesitated slightly.
“There are indeed clearing missions among the E-Rank tasks, but they usually involve clearing mutated rats in the town sewer, or monsters around the outskirts…”
“That one.”
Wu You pointed to a line near the bottom of the list, where the reward was slightly higher.
“Eliminate the Slimes overrunning the western suburban forest. I will take this one.”
Although Slimes were famously weak monsters, they were still monsters.
And there were many of them.
That should be enough for Upward Slash and the others to warm up.
At the same time, it would earn him a little money to fill his stomach.
“Slimes?”
The receptionist looked worried.
“Although they are the weakest monsters, large numbers can still be dangerous. If you go alone…”
“It is fine. I will take it.”
Wu You accepted the mission scroll and the Black Iron badge, stuffed them into his clothes, and turned to leave.
He needed to get something to eat quickly.
His stomach was practically stuck to his back from hunger.
In the shadowed corner of the guild hall.
A small figure was almost completely merged with the shadows.
Only a pair of bright, sparkling eyes stared intently at Wu You’s departing back.
Using the small amount of copper coins he had advanced after completing registration, Wu You bought a few of the cheapest black bread from a roadside stall.
He wolfed down two of them, slightly easing his hunger.
After wrapping up the remaining bread, he headed toward the western outskirts.
He had barely walked a short distance after leaving the city gate when he sensed that something was wrong.
Someone seemed to be tailing him from behind.
The tracking skills were extremely clumsy.
The footsteps were sometimes light, sometimes heavy, and occasionally bumped into the roadside bushes.
Wu You’s gaze turned cold.
He had just dealt with one blind fool, and now another one had come?
Was it one of the scar-faced man’s companions?
Or someone who had gotten greedy for money?
He showed no reaction and continued walking forward.
However, he deliberately slowed his pace, pricking up his ears as he carefully listened to the movements behind him.
The other party indeed followed.
The distance between them slowly closed.
Wu You’s hand quietly rested on the hilt of the sword at his waist.
In his mind, several skill icons glowed faintly.
Especially the recently victorious Enhanced Upward Slash, which seemed eager to try again.
Now!
Wu You suddenly turned around.
He drew his sword and instantly swung a fierce Horizontal Slash.
The motion flowed smoothly in one continuous movement as the blade cut straight toward the stalker’s neck!
If this strike landed, the opponent would be crippled even if they survived.
“Ah!!!”
A short and piercing scream suddenly rang out.
Wu You’s sword stopped abruptly in midair.
In front of the blade was not a sinister bandit.
Nor was it one of the scar-faced man’s companions.
Instead, it was a little girl who looked only twelve or thirteen years old.
She wore an oversized and ill-fitting old robe.
Her small face was dirty, and her hair was tied into two messy horn-shaped pigtails.
She seemed to be completely frightened by the sudden attack.
Her emerald-green eyes instantly filled with tears.
Her face turned pale, and her entire body trembled like a fallen leaf in the wind.
The next second, her eyes rolled back.
Her body stiffened as she fell straight backward.
She had actually fainted from fright.
Wu You: “…???”
