Chapter 14 : The Green Snake, Luo Yi
As the yellow-and-black Killer Bee King spoke, its entire body began turning a deep crimson.
“That’s the Killer Bee clan’s ‘Life Reaper’ ability?”
The Armored Crocodile’s eyes showed clear wariness. This was a talent that drove killer bees into a berserk state, greatly enhancing their strength for a short time. However, most killer bees lacked the bloodline power necessary to awaken this ability.
But the Bee King clearly did not fall into that category.
“Has this guy gone crazy?” the Dread Wolf said cautiously, baring its teeth as if preparing for a desperate fight. “Armored Crocodile, the killer bees’ Life Reaper only boosts them for a short period. After that, they enter a weakened state, so weak that even an ordinary wild beast could kill them.”
Hearing this, the crocodile began to understand.
“I see. You mean as long as we work together—” the crocodile continued the sentence, following the wolf’s lead.
But when it raised its head, it suddenly realized something strange.
The Dread Wolf that had been talking to it was already standing behind it.
“That’s right, Brother Crocodile! Your hide is thick and tough. As long as you hold the front line, you can take the bigger share of the Purple Heart Grass, and I’ll take the smaller share!” the wolf said with a perfectly serious expression.
The crocodile looked confused.
What’s going on? it thought. Didn’t he say we’d work together? Why am I the one standing in front?
Unfortunately, most demonic beasts weren’t particularly intelligent. Although the crocodile had developed basic awareness, it could only handle simple logic. This situation was already beyond its ability to fully process.
But clearly, the Bee King had no intention of giving them time to think. Within the duration of Life Reaper, it had to kill these two demonic beasts and then offer the Purple Heart Grass to the most beautiful bee in the world: its queen.
During the brief period of the Life Reaper state, all of the Bee King’s abilities surged dramatically. Its power was now approaching that of a spirit-level overlord.
At this moment, the Bee King’s confidence swelled infinitely.
“Yes! I! Am invincible! Anyone who dares provoke me will die!”
Its booming buzz echoed through the forest, proclaiming its dominance.
But on a towering tree behind it, a pair of inverted eyes had already locked onto the prey. A flash of green light streaked through the air.
The Bee King’s crimson glow instantly faded. Its body rapidly turned green, stiffening as if petrified. It lost the power of flight and dropped to the ground with a dull thud.
“Invincible, my ass. I’ve been sick of you killer bees for a long time. Finally caught one alone, and still acting so arrogant.”
A green snake coiled itself atop the Bee King’s head, flicking its tongue with a distinctly human-like expression of contempt.
“Green Snake Luo Yi!” The Dread Wolf’s pupils shrank instantly.
Within Mount Qi, there were a total of seven spirit-level creatures. Among them, Green Snake Luo Yi had the most fearsome reputation.
“So that’s the famous green snake said to come from the center of the Lishang Mountain Range?” The Armored Crocodile had heard the name before but had never actually seen this infamous demon serpent. Now it was panicking. Although the Bee King was already dead, the snake standing before it was far more terrifying.
The crocodile wanted to ask the supposedly smarter Dread Wolf what to do next. But when it turned around—
The wolf was already gone. That massive creature was fleeing like a stray dog, running for its life without the slightest hesitation.
As it ran, the wolf thought frantically, Green Snake Luo Yi managed to establish himself in Mount Qi and gain the silent acknowledgment of the other Refined Spirits. That can’t possibly be just because he came from the mountain range’s center. His real terror lies in his venom. Any demonic beast below the spirit level that gets bitten by him will die from the poison instantly. Hopefully that crocodile’s thick hide can hold him off for a while…
Thinking this, the wolf ran even faster. The idea of confronting a Refined Spirits-level demon like Luo Yi had never even crossed its mind.
However, the wolf didn’t realize one crucial thing.
The direction it was fleeing toward…
…was exactly where Su Xiao was hiding.
