My Life in Wednesday With a Vampire System

Chapter 210 199 : Goddess of Wisdom ?

Looking at Translucent's death from a distance, Ethan simply smiled. One less scumbag in the world.

"Should I pocket some Compound V?"

He sat on the edge of the rooftop, swinging his legs while thinking about it.

A single dose could create abilities ranging from useful to completely absurd — some powers looked like they belonged in comic books, others like something designed by somebody having a fever dream.

Valuable enough to deserve a place in his collection. Not because he needed it. Just because it was interesting.

Ethan stood up, stretched, and looked toward the coastline near Queens.

Then he paused.

A strange sensation crawled across his senses. "What the hell is this feeling?"

Like a splinter buried inside reality itself. The feeling grew stronger.

Then the ocean erupted. Waves crashed against each other as powerful winds swept across the water. Dark clouds twisted overhead, forming a massive vortex that stretched into the sky.

Then the sky broke.

A crack spread across the sky like shattered glass, splitting the clouds apart and revealing only darkness beyond.

Black shapes immediately began shooting from the fracture — the first ones plunging into the ocean below, throwing up enormous walls of water.

More followed. Then dozens. Then hundreds. Creatures with twisted limbs and impossible bodies poured through as though an entire ecosystem had been dumped into the world.

Ethan disappeared. Space folded.

He reappeared above the ocean directly beneath the crack, waves churning hundreds of feet below while the fractured sky loomed overhead.

Black creatures continued falling in every direction — some crashing into the sea, some spreading wings, some simply dropping straight down.

Then one noticed him. Its head snapped toward him.

The thing vaguely resembled a wolf if somebody had taken the concept and rebuilt it from nightmares — mouth splitting far wider than it should, exposing rows of jagged teeth as it lunged directly at him.

Ethan raised his hand and formed his fingers into the shape of a gun.

"Bang."

A beam of crimson energy erupted from his fingertip. The monster vanished. The beam kept going, tearing through the swarm before slamming into the fracture itself.

The sky shook. The ocean exploded beneath him. A shockwave rolled across the water and scattered the clouds.

The stream of monsters faltered. Then the crack began to close.

"Hmmmm."

The portal wasn't collapsing on its own — something was forcing it shut from the other side.

The remaining monsters dropped through in a desperate rush before the opening sealed completely.

Then the ocean moved.

Creatures that had sunk beneath the waves began rising.

Massive shadows surfaced one after another, sending walls of water into the air — some with wings torn full of holes, some with bodies covered in eyes, others like things that should never have existed at all.

Every head turned toward Ethan.

Then they charged.

He sighed, extended his hand, and snapped his fingers.

A white vortex opened in front of him. The nearest monster was instantly dragged toward it. Then another.

Then ten more. The pull intensified until the entire swarm lost control — massive creatures ripped from the water, flying monsters dragged from the sky, bodies slamming into each other as they disappeared into the spinning void.

The roaring became the sound of crushing flesh. Wings, claws, scales, and bone ground together under impossible pressure like ingredients thrown into a blender.

Within seconds, the swarm was gone.

Ethan closed his hand. The vortex collapsed. A tangled mass of flesh and organs crashed into the ocean below, staining the water red.

Silence returned.

The crack had vanished. The monsters were gone. Yet Ethan kept staring upward, because the feeling that something was wrong hadn't gone with them.

"Yep," he muttered. "Something definitely opened up that shouldn't have."

Dimensional portal. No question. The creatures didn't belong to this world — they came from whatever was waiting on the other side of that fracture.

And whatever had forced it shut from the inside was still there.

A slow smile spread across his face. "Looks like things just got a lot more interesting."

He stared at the spot where the crack had been.

"Next time that opens, I'm going through."

Then he turned to leave, but something behind him caught his eye.

Ethan narrowed his eyes and saw a blue-haired head suddenly pop out of the water. "Save me... save meee..." the girl shouted while desperately splashing around.

Ethan tilted his head and floated closer over the water. "Hmmmmmm." He touched his chin, genuinely confused about what this silly creature was doing here.

"Hey! What the hell are you staring at—" She immediately sank beneath the water. A second later she burst back out. "Save me!"

"I have one doubt."

The girl paused.

"What?"

"If you're the goddess of water, how can you die in water?"

"What...?" The blue-haired girl stopped struggling immediately.

For several seconds they just stared at each other. A crow flew overhead. "Caw." "Caw."

Aqua — the most useless goddess of water in existence. What the hell was she doing in this world?
