Transmigrated with my corruption system

Chapter 100: They Grow… So I May Rise [II]

Snapping out of his wild fantasies, Ulric lowered his head and stared at the two cocoons. He then delved back into exploring the full range of his Shadow Monarch talent.

Apart from strengthening all his previous abilities to an absurd degree, he could feel that the talent had birthed entirely new ones. As he unraveled them one by one, the smile on his face kept widening.

"Shadow Clone," he breathed.

His figure was instantly encapsulated in darkness. Hazy mirages split off from him until nearly ten copies stood at his side.

Ulric’s brow arched. "Nice."

Each clone wielded a little over twenty-five percent of his strength. Further cloning reduced their power even more, but that didn’t diminish how wondrous the ability was.

If he didn’t have his spiritual field, he wouldn’t have been able to tell the clones apart from the original. A little terrifying considering his enhanced senses.

It would prove quite handy if he ever needed to confuse enemies in the future. Or, in the worst-case scenario, face an opponent he couldn’t defeat outright. Still, he doubted its effectiveness against much higher-ranked foes who had honed their senses to insane levels.

Thankfully, it wasn’t as simple as creating mere mirages.

Staring at a shadow clone ten meters away, he muttered, "Switch."

Instantly, his figure blurred. He appeared where the clone had stood while the clone took his previous position.

This was incredible. Ulric mused, taking a moment to absorb it all. With this ability, the chances of being killed in battle had dropped sharply.

Being able to swap positions with any clone within a ten-meter radius? He could already imagine the shocked faces of future opponents when they thought they had killed him, only for him to reappear seconds later.

Truly wondrous.

Ulric chuckled faintly and rubbed his palms together before moving on to the next abilities.

Shadow Step, which dramatically improved his speed. Shadow Armour, which materialized an intrinsic layer of defense around his body, forming a surprisingly sturdy wall. And so many more utility skills that he spent hours digging through.

When he finally finished, he exhaled softly, a thoughtful look on his face.

It seemed that even after everything, he had still underestimated the capabilities of an SSS-rank talent. It was simply too monstrous.

Now that he wielded one, he understood why they were considered anomalies of the realm and favored sons of heaven. With talents like this, one could achieve in days what others needed months or even years of hard work to accomplish.

There was no comparison. Even SS-rank talents didn’t come close. And when combined with the raging power of his Asura’s Demonic Physique.

He almost felt the urge to rush into the depths of the wasteland and unleash full carnage. His body craved battle and worthy challenges. Ever since his fight with Orros, he had yet to find anyone who could truly push him to his limits.

Maybe, Ulric smiled, excitement surging through him at the thought. In the impending war, someone would rise to offer a worthy challenge. That desire was part of what fueled his conquest of Tempest City.

His thoughts were cut short by the sound of cracking beside him. Tilting his head slowly, the smile on his face widened as he breathed:

"Finally!"

It had already been a few hours since the cocoons had formed around them. He had almost started worrying the transformation would take days, like Amber’s previous evolution.

Thankfully, he had been wrong. He sighed in relief. He didn’t think he could afford that much time right now.

Walking forward, he watched as cracks raced across both cocoons, spider-webbing rapidly before they shattered into countless pieces.

Instantly, two powerful beams of energy shot skyward from their bodies, announcing the birth of two new S-rank talents.

But Ulric didn’t let them. With a casual wave of his hand, a film of darkness shot forth, snuffing out the lights before receding back into his body.

It wouldn’t do to raise unnecessary suspicions. It was already enough that people considered him some kind of heavenly genius. If word spread that he could casually grant S-rank talents, things would not end well for him.

It didn’t matter now.

He summoned his darkness back, revealing their figures once more as his gaze sharpened slightly in surprise

They had changed. Lyra even more dramatically. Her skin now glowed like refined jade, smoother and more supple than before.

Her once long dark hair had transformed entirely into a flowing silvery white that framed her face, which had grown even more strikingly beautiful.

Her blue eyes had paled, yet the spark within them burned brighter than ever. Taking in her entire figure, a faint smile spread across Ulric’s face. Her body and demeanor now exuded pure ice energy.

Lyra herself looked equally stunned. A storm of questions raced through her mind, clashing with the whirlwind of emotions on her face.

She had felt every minute change her body underwent inside the ice cocoon almost as if it had been refined to house pure ice energy.

To test it, she raised one hand and clutched at seemingly empty air. Instantly, the air before her rippled. She drew moisture from the surroundings, freezing it and shaping it however she wished, as easily as breathing.

What was even crazier was that the ice energy was now laced with countless runes, making her previous power seem like garbage in comparison.

It felt too good to be true.

With a wave of her hand, the ice sharpened into a blade and dropped to the ground at her command. It sliced downward, cleaving a deep burrow several meters into the earth.

"Woah..." Lyra muttered, lost in thought, entranced by the full might of her new talent.

Then her head slowly rose. Her pale blue eyes locked onto the dark-robed figure’s crimson gaze. Without hesitation, she rushed forward and sank into his embrace, clutching his back tightly.

She didn’t know how he had done it... granting her an S-rank talent, a feat even the strongest powerhouses couldn’t replicate. Yet he had done it so easily. But none of that mattered now.

With this power, she could finally fulfill all her promises. The thought brought tears to her eyes. She made a quiet vow in her heart: she would not disappoint him.

Stroking Lyra’s hair, Ulric’s eyes widened slightly. It felt like ice carved from silk. The talent had truly refined her body. He mused as he felt her grip on his back tighten.

A faint smile curving his lips, he shifted his attention to Amber.

Unlike Lyra, her appearance remained relatively unchanged. But her aura was now thick with a powerful earth presence.

With a flick of her wrist, rows of earth walls rose before her. Another flick and they reformed seamlessly. She played with her new abilities, even conjuring armor plates that formed across her body.

Her eyes slowly lit up with realization as she squealed excitedly. "So... strong!"

Then she turned to him and rushed forward, clutching him tightly and joining the embrace.

Both women only released him after several minutes. Taking a step back, Ulric swept his gaze across their figures once more and asked:

"How do you feel?"

Before the words had even fully left his lips, their mouths opened. They babbled endlessly, expressing their gratitude over and over.

Ulric shook his head slightly and muttered under his breath, "No... thank you."

Once he reaped their power with his Seed of Chaos, he could only imagine how massively his own strength would grow.

Before he could sink deeper into those thoughts, his hands reached out and grabbed their waists firmly.

"It’s time to leave."

They had stayed here long enough. He recalled the Shadow Cat back into the darkness.

He watched them nod, their faces lighting up in anticipation as they waited for him to sprint off again. But this time, he wanted to try something new.

Reaching into his physique, he activated one of his newly awakened innate skills.
