Building The Perfect Harem With My Heavenly Desire System

Chapter 73: Assassination Of Nyx (3)

Chapter 73

"I’m someone who doesn’t like his woman being touched by oily pigs," Alex replied while casting a quick glance at Nyx.

She was staring at him with her lips parted in shock. And for a brief moment he could have sworn he saw something that felt like thank you in her usually cold amber eyes.

As if confirming his thoughts, a panel instantly chimed.

[Ding! +2 Desire Energy Gained For Extremely Minor Affection]

[Ding! +5 Desire Points Gained For Extremely Minor Affection]

If he weren’t currently in a precarious situation, Alex would have leapt in joy. The notification had just proved one thing; that Nyx had finally started to gain a tiny bit of attraction for him, and even though it was basically like a grain of sand in the desert, it was still a really good start.

Gnash, recovering from Doris’s unexpected attack, stood up and cracked his neck.

"Dammit you bitch! First I’m going to take my time and beat you to a bloody pulp, before I’ll finally end your miserable life and dig my fingers into your soft chest and bring out your bloody heart."

"Impressive," Silas said while looking at Alex with a calculating glint in his eyes. "To be able to infiltrate this area unnoticed and kill seven of my best snipers speaks volume about you. And judging from the height you just jumped from, I’ll say no ordinary human can accomplish what you did here, so you should also be an Awakened... But look around you boy. We are four people while you guys are only three. While you Awakeneds battle it out, it would remain me and Vaughan against the defenseless Nyx. So maybe you’ve saved her for an extra five minutes. But what is the point?"

Alex noticed that the odds weren’t truly in their favour. If him and Doris where to engage with the two Awakeneds, that’ll leave a broken Nyx to face against two men. He might have had peace of mind if Nyx were still in her normal state where she could actively defend herself with her impressive fighting prowess that was still within the range of human capability.

But he shook his head. Even if Nyx were in her normal state, who says that Silas couldn’t fight, and well as for Vaughan, that guy was sort of a coward. And from the way he hid himself behind the strange man in a long coat, it was safe to say that his fighting ability would surely be weak.

But still, two people, one who could fight and another who could barely but had a high chance of having a gun would still be too much for someone like the current Nyx.

So his only shot right now was to find a way and quickly end the fight against the strange man, then help Nyx to handle both Vaughan and Silas.

So before Silas could open his mouth to say another word, Alex quickly took out a pistol he had found in one of the bodies of the sniper, aimed it at the tall man in the long coat and squeezed the trigger.

Bang!

The bullet traveled fast and just as it was about to hit the man’s chest, something strange happened. It passed through the man’s body as if he were made out of smoke. The man didn’t even blink; his body simply continued to shimmer with a ghostly translucent light, before it turned back to normal.

Alex’s eyes widened.

’Dammit! The bastard’s ability is phasing. Great. Another pain in the ass. Why the hell do I have to always meet Awakeneds with broken ability.’

Silas laughed at his pitiful attempt.

"Ah. So you really thought you could kill one of the awakeneds with a bullet, so that you can quickly help Nyx. That’s a really smart plan... Alas, it’s too bad that my man has the ability to phase, so it’s going to be quite a lot of trouble if you want to put him down."

"And do you want to know a secret? In all the time that he has worked for me, he has never lost a single battle in his life." He then turned toward the two men behind him. "Gnash, John, go kill them..."

At that moment a phone ringtone echoed throughout the large shipyard.

Ring!... Ring!... Ring!

Silas widened his eyes before relaxing it back again. It was his phone, but he ignored the ringing and looked at Alex.

"So you also managed to turn off the signal jammer. Good thinking. But essentially your efforts have all been a waste of time."

He then turned back to his phone and answered it. But he failed to notice the smirk forming at the edge of Nyx’s lips.

"What is it Cecil? I hope you better have a good explanation for interrupting me. And tell me how everything is going on over there..."

From the speaker came the sound of heavy gunfire, screams, and the unmistakable roar of an explosion. Then a frantic voice hurriedly spoke out.

<No sir! It was all a trap, the whole thing was all a trap! As I’m speaking to you, we’ve already lost a good chunk of our people. Doris lied. Nyx never sent her five Awakeneds away, they were always in her place, waiting patiently for us to come. Sir please, send the others, we are losing ground. They are slaughtering us like pig....>

The line abruptly cut off. The silence that followed was thick enough to be tasted. Silas stood there frozen with his hand still clutching the phone as if it could somehow bring back the voice of his subordinate.

Finally, the image of the composed mask he had worn for years shattered in an instant, revealing something that looked like rage and a bit of desperation.

He shifted his gaze from the phone to the previously helpless woman behind Alex and Doris, who was now flashing him a mocking smile.

"But... How?"

"Did you really think that I would walk into a trap without preparing one of my own?"

Nyx pushed herself up from the ground, using the side of the Maybach Landaulet for support. Her knees were still weak from kneeling down, but the fire returning back to her eyes was enough to make Vaughan stumble backward in fear.

"Did you think that because I value loyalty, I was too blind to prepare for it? Did you really think that I didn’t notice the way you were using me from the start? or that I didn’t know you were pretending to help me just to collect everything from me one day? No Silas, I already found out your entire plan a long time ago, and you know what even made me plan ahead for this moment? It was the suspicious movement of Vaughan over here."

Vaughan’s already pale face turned even paler, if that was possible.

"But... The reports... The Awakeneds were seen leaving the city! Hell, we even tracked their cars all the way to the airport!"

"Yes, you did track the car, Vaughan," Nyx corrected, while shifting her gaze to him with pity in her amber eyes. "But you didn’t track the people inside. All I did was have Doris find some people that looked a bit like my subordinates and have them sent in that exact car that would take them to the airport. I’ve known all about your little scheme for months now. I just needed you all to gather in one place with your so-called mastermind. And what better way to bring you all out, than to use myself as the bait."

Vaughan stammered.

"But what about the property documents? The one we’ve already gotten your signature on? Does that mean it’s all fake?"

"Oh, that one. I just had Doris deceive you all by providing a fake signature, so that you all can trust her, and allow her to infiltrate your pitiful excuse of a group."

Silas exhaled slowly, forcing all the rage back inside. His expression returned back to its usual composure.

"So this was your plan all along. Feign weakness and let me believe that I’ve already won. And while I focused on everything here... You’ll attack my defenseless subordinates. Smart girl."

Nyx smiled faintly.

"You taught me that, remember? Always make your enemy commit fully before you show your hand."

"Impressive," he admitted. "You have indeed played me like a fool all this time. For that I must applaud you. But that doesn’t change the facts here. Gnash! John! Kill them now! If I’m going down, I’m taking your head with me!"

Gnash didn’t need to be told twice. With a roar that shook the nearby containers. His clothes quickly began to shred as thick, black fur that looked like black spiky needles sprouted across his back, and his powerful muscles suddenly tripled in volume, pulsing with pure power.

He no longer resembled anything human, instead, right now, he looked more like a three hundred pound mountain of pure destruction.
