Chapter 10 : Chapter 10
Chapter 10.
Flashburst Arrow!
Sylvia’s mind went blank.
The world was reduced to nothing but ringing noise and blinding white light.
It was over.
Taking advantage of her sensory disorientation, the distant archer did not pause for even a moment.
He fired five Soul-Chasing Arrows in rapid succession.
Five streaks of light came from completely different angles, sealing off every possible escape route.
At the critical moment, Sylvia relied entirely on her battle instincts.
She could neither see nor hear.
But the memory in her body remained.
Sylvia closed her eyes and focused all her awareness on sensing danger.
Her twin swords, Moonfall and Starfall, instantly danced before her into a curtain of silver light.
Clang!
Clang!
Clang!
Three crisp sounds rang out in succession as she deflected three arrows.
But two arrows remained.
With two dull thuds, the arrows pierced into her left shoulder and right leg.
The defensive magic on her high-tier armor flared instantly, absorbing most of the force.
Even so, the penetrating power made Sylvia grunt in pain.
…
Elsewhere, Logaris was not in a better situation.
That girl named Lilith was completely unreasonable to deal with.
There seemed to be an invisible zone surrounding her body.
Any magic that approached her immediately lost its effect.
“Professor, I told you it would not work.”
Lilith smiled cheerfully as her steps blurred like a phantom, closing in again.
The dark glow on her dagger flashed as she thrust straight toward Logaris' heart.
Logaris had no choice but to activate Fixed-Point Translocation again.
His body vanished from where he stood and reappeared ten meters away.
This time he did not use magic.
Instead, he drew his Magitech Gun from his waist.
Bang!
Bang!
Bang!
Logaris fired three shots in quick succession.
What he shot were alchemical bullets he had personally prepared.
The core of each bullet was a blasting crystal.
They relied purely on physical impact, not magical energy.
Lilith’s Anti-Magic ability was useless against them.
Sure enough, surprise appeared on Lilith’s face for the first time.
She quickly twisted her body to dodge.
One bullet grazed past her face and exploded against the carriage behind her, blasting a large hole in the metal.
“Oh my, alchemical constructs?”
Lilith licked her lips as her expression grew more serious.
“Professor, you really keep surprising me.”
It works.
A thought flashed through Logaris' mind.
But before he could complete that thought, Lilith vanished from his sight.
She was too fast.
Logaris only felt a gust of wind rushing toward him.
He instinctively activated an alchemical device on his left glove.
A palm-sized hexagonal shield popped out, positioning itself directly in front of the incoming dagger.
Clang!
The shield was shattered instantly.
Logaris used the moment to pull back and widen the distance again.
He knew very well that as a mage, he must never fight in close combat.
Especially not against a woman whose physical abilities were so absurd.
Just her foundation as a sixth-tier Anti-Magic user already made her far stronger than Logaris, who had effectively lost ninety percent of his power in her presence.
Lilith’s attack only grew fiercer after missing once.
Her daggers turned into two black flashes of lightning, each strike aimed directly at Logaris' throat and heart.
Logaris could only continue dodging through Fixed-Point Translocation while returning fire with alchemical bullets.
He was clearly at a severe disadvantage.
But Lilith was beginning to lose patience.
“I am done playing with you.”
She suddenly crouched low to avoid another shot and then shot forward like a cannonball.
Logaris' instincts screamed in alarm.
Several small metal spheres flew out from his body and assembled into a large shield before him.
Meanwhile, far away on the mountaintop.
The archer saw that even five Soul-Chasing Arrows had failed to kill Sylvia.
He appeared to grow impatient as well.
He slowly drew his massive bow.
The arrow was wrapped in brilliant streams of cyan light.
Star-Piercing Arrow.
A gigantic beam-like arrow tore through the sky.
This time the target was no longer Sylvia’s vital points.
It was her entire body.
With this shot, he intended to blast Sylvia and her swords into dust together.
Sylvia endured the intense pain from her wounds and crossed her twin swords before her chest.
Combat Technique: Royal Dominion Veil.
A translucent silver-gray barrier had just formed.
In the next second, the light arrow crashed into it.
The barrier lasted less than half a second before shattering.
The massive impact blasted Sylvia backward.
She slid across the ground for more than ten meters before finally stopping.
Almost at the exact moment Sylvia was blown away.
Lilith smashed through the shield with a whip kick and drove her foot brutally into Logaris' chest.
“Ugh!”
Logaris felt as if his ribs were about to shatter.
His body flew backward violently.
Thud!
With a dull impact, the two people who had been thrown back slammed into each other from behind.
Sylvia and Logaris staggered several steps before barely managing to remain standing.
They stood back-to-back, both breathing heavily.
On the distant mountaintop, the archer had already readied his weapon again.
A dangerous glimmer of light gathered on the bowstring, preparing the next attack.
Neither of them spoke.
But from each other’s rapid breathing and tense posture, they could both sense that the situation was dire.
“Hah…”
During the brief standoff, Sylvia caught her breath and felt the warmth from the back pressed against hers.
She spoke in a low voice.
“The mighty Professor Logaris seems to be getting beaten around by a little girl.”
Logaris adjusted the glasses that had nearly been knocked crooked and replied calmly.
“The same could be said of you.The future lion of Astrelia is being toyed with like a monkey by a rural archer. Is the royal swordsmanship only useful for cutting cake at banquets?”
“Shut up!If you are so capable, you go deal with him!”
Sylvia snapped back.
“Those mountain-leveling spells of yours cannot even touch the edge of her skirt.”
“She is a Nullifier, born with an Anti-Magic constitution,” Logaris replied flatly.
“Any magic becomes ineffective in front of her.Defeating her is a matter of technique, not power.”
“I am tired of hearing your theories.”
A spark of fighting spirit reignited in Sylvia’s silver-gray eyes.
“We switch.”
“Let me see how your so-called techniques deal with that fly hiding in the distance.”
A cold curve appeared at the corner of Logaris' mouth.
“That was exactly my intention.”
The moment he finished speaking—
Logaris vanished instantly.
Long-Range Fixed-Point Translocation.
While fighting Lilith earlier, he had secretly been spreading his spiritual sense to survey the surrounding terrain.
At that moment, he had finally locked onto the sniper’s precise coordinates.
On the distant mountaintop.
The archer was focusing entirely on Sylvia, preparing the final shot.
A chill suddenly crept up his spine.
He turned around abruptly.
All he saw was a cold face behind frameless glasses already standing right before him.
How was that possible?
The archer sensed the danger and tried to retreat.
But it was already too late.
Down on the plain.
Lilith also froze briefly when Logaris suddenly disappeared.
As a Nullifier, she had extremely sharp perception of magical energy.
She instinctively tried to track Logaris' mana fluctuations.
Yet within her Anti-Magic field, there was nothing.
What was happening?
At that moment, brilliant silver light erupted beneath Sylvia’s feet.
Quicksilver Step.
The princess who had been suppressed for so long poured all her pent-up frustration into the swords in her hands.
With unstoppable momentum, she turned into a bolt of silver lightning and charged straight toward the petite assassin.
