VRMMO: World's First Glyphborne

Chapter 178: This could have been an email

Prince of Stars tapped his foot impatiently underneath the table, as the meeting he was forced to attend ticked over into its second hour. Along with forcing all of the guild members to spawn in Rowdan, claiming it as their official city, a few members of the teams management had also made characters and entered the game.

Naturally they had paid to be carried through the Gatekeepers Trial, so they could be here now lecturing the professionals on their performance when the Dragon event happened, despite the fact that some of them weren’t even online at the time.

Golden Princes membership was spread across the world, operating in different time zones. Some of their core members, who were the members of the actual professional E-sports team rather than just guild members, had been fast asleep whilst others had been out grinding, unable to return.

In fact the Vice-Captain had been leading some of their newer guild members through a rather long dungeon when the Dragon had been attacking. Thus why it was most Prince of Stars himself leading the charge with what members he had on hand, and his ’Queen’ LusciousLox.

Just at the thought of her, Prince of Stars shuddered in disgust and cast an irritated look her way. She was lounging in her chair, clearly not paying attention as she twirled her hair in her fingers and spent most of her time staring at Prince of Stars.

The moment he looked at her, her lecherous smile widened. She twiddled her fingers in a cutesy wave, before blowing him a kiss that made Prince of Stars immediately activate his Providence Armour around his body.

A few of the other members glanced at them, naturally noticing their antics, before letting out sighs of their own. This was becoming increasingly common, and they didn’t exactly enjoy her being here either, but they were at least thankful they were not the object of her obsession.

The only people that enjoyed LusciousLox’s presence was the management, who were too absorbed in their very important lecture to notice, and the Vice-Captain, who was one of her biggest simps... I mean, most loyal and dedicated fans.

It was partially because of him that she was her, and while he loved having the chance to be close to her, it made him spend most of his days filled with impotent jealousy as he felt that ’his girl’ was being stolen from him, and kept muttering something about ’Enteear’ as if it was some kind of spell he was casting.

Because having an obsessive stalker wasn’t bad enough, of course the guild also had to have an unwanted, incredibly awkward love triangle, or perhaps more accurately an obsession centipede. Which was a disgusting thought, admittedly, but that made it all the more accurate.

’This meeting is only happening because of YOU! Can’t you at least pretend to pay attention?! If you had just followed orders, I wouldn’t be here and I wouldn’t be having issues with Ray.’

Prince of Stars shouted in his mind, glaring daggers at Lox as he dismissed his armour, now that the threat was gone. Although, as much as he was berating Lox, he didn’t have much room to talk as he was constantly checking his messages.

He had spent the first hour of the meeting debating over the contents of that message. He had considered, and typed out, so many different tones and drafts, but deleted them all as they all felt horrible.

Too worried that it sounded overly protective, too aloof that it sounded like he didn’t care. Too obsessive, too close, too distant, too neglectful.

No matter what he tried, they all sounded wrong. In the end he had only sent the message as he did as a way to buy time and would hope that Ray would understand him. When he finally got her reply, he nearly shot up in his chair with joy.

But ever the professional, he kept his cool and, in a very cool manner, immediately opened up the message before the notification sound had even finished playing. Super cool.

{Ok.}

Yes, She understood him! Why did he ever spend so long doubting his words, when she knew him well enough to know what he meant. If she didn’t, she probably would have asked questions.

But that kind of answer was short, sweet and showed she needed no more answers.

The bouncing of his foot finally stopped, and a contented smile spread across his lips as he relaxed in his chair, coasting through the next hour of the meeting which consisted on a drawn out, overly explained lesson on the importance of teamwork.

Truly fascinating stuff.

Once that was finally over, Prince of Stars rushed out of the meeting room and headed into the dorm room of the guild house. He immediately entered his room, slamming the door closed and logged out after asking the Brownies for a favour, just like Belladonna had shown her with Sebbie.

It was thankful that the guild house already came with Brownie statues, from the NPC tenants it used to previously house.

His head had barely hit the pillow for a second before the Brownie serving in the guild house had to get to work. Its attention having been drawn by the crazed eye peering through the keyhole of the door.

LusciousLox yelped and fell backwards, clutching at her eye as it felt like someone had stabbed something sharp into it. Tears welled up in her good eye, as she cursed the world and wondered what she had done so wrong to constantly deserve such horrible treatment. If only her magic could work for real, such things would never happen to her again!

Whimpering softly to herself, she rose to her feet, planted a tender and loving kiss on the door before finally moving away whilst clutching her eye.

Percy pulled the Neural Crown from his head with a groan and stood up from the chair he had been playing in, whilst Valerie laid in the bed across from him. It had only been a few hours, which was nothing compared to his usual session times, but already he was feeling stiff.

He stretched a few times, cracking his joints and letting out a few grunts as he worked out the knots built up in his muscles before casting a wicked look back at his chair.

Sure, it was expensive and was a designer brand, but my god it was uncomfortable. He couldn’t have been the first one to think of that, right?

A slight grumble of his stomach lured him out of the room, as he figured he had time for snacks before Valerie woke up. However as he opened the door, he found himself face to face with the constantly smiling magazine cut out of Jinu.

The Robotic assistant tilted its head, causing the blankly staring eyes to shift to the side slightly, before it promptly straightened up, turned on its heel and walked off down the corridor.

All Percy could do was stare at its retreating back in confusion.

What the hell was that about?’
