VRMMO: World's First Glyphborne

Chapter 162: How do they work?!

As if it could smell her intentions, the dragon shifted and raised its head high. Plenty of players lunged at its chest as it puffed it out, searching for the legendary reverse scale that would pierce its heart. A reverse scale that did not exist, but that didn’t stop them.

The dragon cared not for their attempts, as they were nothing more than tickles, and even seemed to have a wicked gleam in its eye as it was surrounded by deadly steel and a newly arrived army.

It’s mouth opened wide and a light appeared in its mouth, but it was not the light of its lava breath. Lines of mana drew themselves into existence instead, rapidly forming into a rather simplistic magical circle, in Belladonna’s opinion as it only involved a few runes, multiple minor ones that spelled out the range and such, with two major that defined the spells actual intentions.

She recognised one of the major runes, representing metal, however it was the other major rune that she could not quite place. It had similarities to push, and other direction based runes, but she couldn’t understand why.

Why would a directional rune be a major definition? Should it not be with the other minor runes, spelling out the details of the spell?

That was what she thought, until she started to feel something stirring inside of her. Her bloodline was reacting to an unnatural shift in the air, as she felt it starting to be pulled. Her feet dragged across the ground, starting slow and rapidly building up speed, as Belladonna’s face twisted into fear and understanding.

"IT’S A MAGNET!" She shouted at the top of her lungs, having no time to subtly inform her teammates through their group chat. Too many of them were clad in plate armour, especially their heavy hitters, and even if Belladonna herself was not wearing any, it seemed her bloodlines magnetic properties was enough.

She forced herself to lean back, stabbing her hand into the ground and getting a firm handhold just as her feet lifted off of the ground completely, suspending her in the air from the dragging force of the magnetic spell.

Someone flew passed Belladonna, smacking into her slightly and tumbling through the air as they ricocheted off of her. Without even thinking, she snatched them out of the air. Grabbing them by the air and letting them float there, staring at what would have been their impending doom.

Dozens of others around her were not so lucky. Their bodies bouncing along the ground as they were ensnared by their own armour and drawn into the dragons waiting maw.

Even those who did not wear armour often found themselves being disarmed, as their swords and shields flew from their hands and into the dragons mouth. Of course they did always have the option to hold onto them, but that would only result in them joining their weapons in their destination without a proper anchor.

The worst part, depending on who you asked, was that the ensnared metal did not fall down its throat. It was not a vacuum sucking everything up like a pink puffball, but a magnet created by the magical circle.

All of it clumped together, forming a rapidly growing ball of glimmering metal made of bodies and weapons that was suspended in the air between the dragons jaws.

Those who were unfortunate enough to succumb to the magnetic force first, found themselves being crushed to death underneath the increasing pressure of the silver ball. Their armour not only dooming them to their fate, but becoming their own rapidly shrinking tomb.

Those who were on the outside were not better off. All the swords and other assorted weapons that were flying towards the ball had to land somewhere, and through their chest or head seemed to be the most common location. If they were lucky.

If you weren’t, then it was limbs being removed, stabbed or crushed before you finally met your end. Even with the pain reducer, it was not a pleasant experience.

Torrents of blood spurted and dripped from this metallic ball, being forced through the cracks between the crushed bodies like water being rung from a rag, creating a morbid river of crimson flowing from the Dragons mouth.

Once everything unanchored was within its snare, the Dragon snapped its jaws shut over the ball. It’s throat pouch bulging and immediately starting to glow, as it processed the result of its wonderful snare.

At the same time, the magnetic force cut off, causing everyone suspended in the air to collapse to the ground in a heap.

Belladonna grunted as she slammed into the ground and, after a second to get her breath back, pulled her hand from the hole as she started to clamber to her feet. Her damsel in distress did the same, brushing himself off and turning to her with a smile, even going so far as to help her up.

"Thank you. Thank you so much for saving me. If it wasn’t for you then I would have... You?! IT’S YOU!" His grateful tone suddenly turned to hateful and accusatory, as the helpful hand on her arm clamped itself into a more restrictive grip.

Belladonna, however, looked up at this man with complete and utter confusion as he kept a death grip on her arm. She was frozen half way up from the ground simply because she was stunned from the sudden personality shift.

"Do... I know you?"

"Ha! No. But I know you foul witch! You are the one from the library. The one that framed our glorious Queen for the crime she didn’t commit and nearly ruined her character! Don’t even try to deny it, just admit your crimes hethen!"

The man shouted, puffing out his chest as he put on a very dramatic voice suitable for some kind of story book knight.

Belladonna knitted her brows as she wondered what ’Queen’ he was referring to, before a sinister and bemused smirk spread across her lips.

"Oh... I see. You’re a LusciousLox follower, huh?"

"Yes I am! And you will pay for your crimes. Now come along, we will bring you to her so you can grovel for her forgiveness!"

He yanked at Belladonna’s arm, expecting her to resist and try to pull away, but she did the opposite. Instead of trying to free herself, she stepped into the pull and then dragged him towards herself.

Her hand clamped around his chin, forcing his head up, and exposing his supple neck with its pulsating veins, as she eagerly sunk her teeth into it. The valiant knight let out a confused and panicked whimper as Belladonna’s teeth tore through his flesh, and his delectable sanguine exploded across her tongue.

The crimson began to melt from her eyes, as the voice in Belladonna’s mind roared with glee.
