Chapter 101: Silence
In the Ice Jade Palace, Chen Yi was wandering in the flower garden when he heard a familiar voice calling for him.
"Chen’er," A lady with fine facial features and long black hair, pulled him into her embrace and snuggled her cheeks on his. She was Liu Ran.
"Mother..." Chen called back with an awkward tone, wanting to get some free space. It has been quite hard for him to consider her as a mother, because most of his upbringing was done by Qing Yue.
Of course, she wasn’t the one to let him go so easily, as she tightened her grip around lifting him in her arms. As she began spinning around amidst the flowers, acting. Under the watch of the sun, the cold wind brought the petals into the sky, creating the effect of a beautiful flower rain.
"Cheeeeen’er," her face was full of a smile, as she played around with her big child.
There was nothing in Chen Yi’s hand as he held onto her strongly, while his head was spinning.
"Mother, it’s enough... let me go..."
He screamed, knowing very well what the results were she wanted. Sure, she did, slowed after hearing his scream, a sweet smile tugging on her lips.
"How was that? Remember not to go out next time without telling your mother." She said, still holding him in her arms.
"You guys look more like siblings than mother and son." At this moment, Qing Yue, wearing her all-time favourite white robe, had also arrived.
"Master..."
"Master..."
Both of them bowed to her in unison. After all, she was like a mother for both of them.
"How was the journey in the outside world? I heard that you had a lot of fun out there." Qing Yue asked, from her expression alone. Chen Yi could tell that she knew everything, whatever he had out there.
"Hehe..." He just smiled at her shamelessly, come to think of it. There have been many more incidents between them; he knew that she didn’t really care about him, using her name to play around with other sect leaders.
Even now, when they still sleep together, he would occasionally let his hand roam on her body, just for the sake of the thrill. Her body was just too voluptuous and motherly that it had even charmed hundreds of sect leaders, let alone a small child like him.
Seeing her here, Liu Ran finally let go of him and found him, jumping straight on Qing Yue’s arms. His speed was super fast; before she could even turn her neck around, he was already hugging Qing Yue like a little monkey. His hands and legs both wrapped around her body, while he rubbed his face on her massive chest.
"Huh... Chen Yi!"
Liu Ran, finding him hugging Qing Yue so dearly, instantly flared up, as she pulled him down on the ground. Her eyes were burning in flames, giving Chen Yi a little scare.
After all, if it were anyone else doing these types of things. He would have instantly been labelled as a pervert by her, but here he was, her own son. She couldn’t really call him a pervert, despite knowing he behaves like one.
Chen Yi lay on the ground, not trying to stand up at all, as he simply closed his eyes. Wanting to enjoy these moments. Alas, now the Tian Hai was gone, making the Heavenly Demon move towards another step of completion, but that came with some unwanted secrets that he didn’t want to know about.
"Hey... stop acting." His face was being pocked by Liu Ran’s slender fingers, who sat beside him,
Chen Yi opened his eyes to look at Liu Ran’s face...
Sigh~
"Mom, look at the blue sky," he pointed at the sky. There was nothing special about it, yet it calms once heart when they looked at it.
Liu Ran lifted her head, watching the clear sky, finding it a bit empty without any clouds.
At the moment, a gust of cold wind came all of a sudden, taking the bunch of flowers petals into the sky. The wind made her hair flutter, kissing her face softly.
She stretched her hand out, grabbing the few falling petals into her hands, these soft and fragrant. Soon enough, more and more petals began falling from the sky as the wind began to change, making the flower rain over the entire garden.
"It’s so beautiful," Liu Ran muttered, as she also lay beside him in a daze, admiring the beauty of nature. As for Qing Yue, she just walked away, leaving the mother and son alone.
"Mom, what are your plans for the future?" Chen asked, staring at the sky,
Liu Ran does have the answer to his question, but now that answer has a question mark attached to it.
At first, her goal was limited to becoming the strongest in the world, but now she’s gotten a new direction. She was a mother now, had a child to look after, and... she also had a brother that needs justice, though, with the help of Qing Yue, she had destroyed the Floating Cloud Sect, the place where her brother died. But... master Qing Yue told her that the person who killed her brother was from the Immortal realm.
The problem here was the choice that life had given her; now she wasn’t just a cultivator, she was a mother too.
Not getting any answer from her, he decided to speak again, "Mom... I want to explore the outside world."
And find a way to protect everyone from getting infected by this heavenly Demon’s curse.
Now, I knew why Ice Jade Palace and people here aren’t affected by my curse, it meaningless to stay here.
His words rang in her ears for a while, but she didn’t know who to reply to, maybe tell him how dangerous the outside world is, how evil people can be without the Jade Palace protection. But... whatever she had learned about raising a child says to set them free, so they stand up on their own feet, instead of living under their parents’ shadows.
"Mom..." Chen Yi spoke once again, but there was still no reply.
As he was planning to say again, she wrapped her arms around his head, pulling him into her embrace, holding him tight. He didn’t struggle, understanding her silence was her form of acceptance.
