Chapter 139: A Large Order
Valerie’s POV
I was shocked to see what was in the second folder in the encrypted files within the USB given by Lan.
My company hadn’t started yet and I already had a big order from a renowned company.
I was surprised to find that the person who had been kind to me and so easy to get along with was actually the biggest boss in one of the largest conglomerates in the country.
He was a behind the scenes boss but he still made the most life-changing decisions in the company.
But such an important man had actually been cooking with me in my kitchen that day.
Not only that, but he offered to cook for me whatever I wanted to eat when I wanted.
How did my luck turn so good all of a sudden?
"Lizzie, do you think he has a hidden agenda to be so good to me?" I asked Lizzie, my closest confidant.
"What do you have that such an important and powerful man would scheme against you for?" Lizzie asked with mockery in her voice.
"Hey, don’t forget that you are me. Are you looking down on yourself?" I asked, sounding angry but in fact, I also thought that she made sense.
I had nothing that others would covet, so, what could Lan want from me?
"So, he was genuinely just being nice?" I asked, sounding doubtful.
I couldn’t be blamed for my skepticism. Over the years, apart from when someone wanted to give me a hard time or a beating, no one showed any interest in me.
Even the only person who I thought was my friend was also close to me to fulfill a bet.
So, I couldn’t be blamed for being so suspicious.
"Relax. You know that I can tell if someone is getting close to you to hurt you. So, you don’t have to worry too much about the big guy." Lizzie comforted me and also reassured me.
"Oh! Is that so? So what happened with Karl then?" I asked, sounding less than pleased.
"You needed him at the time. So, even though I knew about his motives, I kept silent because at least, his presence ensured that your life wasn’t completely dark before you left that wretched place. However, now that you can stand on your own two feet, you don’t need any props. So, in the future, the people you meet, I will let you know immediately if someone is up to no good." Lizzie almost swore when she made that promise.
Of course, I understood her kind intentions. If Karl hadn’t been in my life during all those years in the Night Claw Pack, I might have given up long ago.
But at least, when I thought that even one person was willing to be my friend, I held on.
"Okay then. Since you say he meant well, then I will graciously accept his gift. But since we are going to be providing services to such a large company, I need to ensure that my system is absolutely flawless. So, I need to bury myself in studies for the next few days."
If my secure mobile payment system was launched and the first client was such a large company in the country, then it would be a huge success.
That means that it would gain the trust of other companies easily.
"Alright then. I won’t disturb you while you work. Study hard and bring pride to your parents." Lizzie said before her voice and presence completely disappeared.
If I didn’t know I had a wolf, I would have doubted she even existed.
Both Shadow and Lan had given me learning materials. So, for the next three days, I did nothing but study when I wasn’t eating or sleeping.
The information they had provided me with was so advanced that it took me some time to understand it and integrate it with what I had learned before.
However, once I was done, my computer knowledge had made a huge breakthrough.
To test my skills, I went into the dark web and looked through all the missions on the notice board that advertised the available gigs.
I picked one that was too difficult for me to solve before and immediately started the task.
To my surprise, something that I did not even know how to handle a few days before was as easy as ABCD to my current self.
This motivated me and I took another gig. The result was the same.
After five consecutive gigs, I was promoted from a mid-level hacker to a top-level one.
Now, I could take on more difficult missions.
I started with the ones at the bottom and fought my way up.
By the time I stopped, I was already on the list of the five most formidable hackers in the country.
Moreover, while I was doing the gigs for practice, I was also making money.
In a few days, I had made tens of millions of dollars from the tasks I performed.
With this money, I could literally walk sideways like a crab in the city.
However, after I was sure about my skills, I opened my payment system and realized that it indeed needed improvements.
If used in its current state, it would indeed serve its purpose, but on a small scale.
After consecutive updates, the system was ready and once launched, those interested just needed to download it like an app on their phones or computers and use it for secure payments.
After I was sure it had no issues, I sent a link for its download to Caelan and Shadow to test it.
They were basically the closest people I could trust now, so it was best to have them do a test run.
Moreover, on the day I completed the system, my patent certificate was delivered to me.
I completely owned all the patent rights and no one could use my system without buying the rights from me.
Now, it was the time to see the locations for the company headquarters that Shadow had mentioned before.
