Chapter 700: Are You Going to Leave Me Here Alone?
Annabelle said, speechless, "I just went for a walk."
"Who let you wander off?" Leona Grant demanded. The memory of that young clerk blushing as he looked at Annabelle made him suddenly furious. "Can’t you just sit here quietly? I’m here keeping you company, so why do you need to wander around?"
’...She had only gone for a walk for his own good, hadn’t she? He couldn’t even focus on work when she was around all the time.’
Annabelle watched his face darken, her own mood souring instantly. She grabbed her bag and walked toward the door. "You’ve had your meal, so get back to work. I’m heading home now."
Leona Grant rushed forward and grabbed her arm. "Are you just going to leave me here all alone?" he asked, displeased.
Annabelle was speechless.
’How could he call this "abandoning" him? It was ridiculous.’
She brushed his hand away and said coolly, "Just focus on your work. I’ll wait for you at home. You’ll be getting off work soon anyway, so I’ll go home and start dinner."
Leona Grant frowned.
’What should I do? I want to eat her cooking, but I don’t want her to leave...’
As he struggled with his dilemma, a brilliant idea struck him. He grinned and said, "We can go home and cook dinner together."
"..." In truth, Annabelle just wanted to leave. She was incredibly bored, sitting there all day long.
Seeing Annabelle’s frown, Leona Grant shook her arm and whined, "Let’s leave work together. I don’t want you to go now. If you leave, I won’t want to stay here by myself, but I still have so much work to finish."
’...He’s acting like a little kid.’
Annabelle shot him a disdainful look but relented with a sigh. "Fine. Go finish your work quickly. We’ll leave together later and stop by the supermarket to pick some things up."
Even though they had staff at home, she still enjoyed doing these little things, because they were what made up everyday life.
And everyday life had its own special charm.
Leona Grant beamed, pulling her down to sit beside him. "Okay," he said happily. "We’ll leave together later."
Annabelle sat down.
’I really don’t understand this man at all anymore. He’s getting more and more clingy.’
’Is that a good thing or a bad thing?’ Annabelle wasn’t so sure herself anymore.
Leona Grant had placed a small desk for her next to his own and had also set up a laptop for her.
A cup of coffee sat in front of each of their computers.
Annabelle was reviewing a medical case that Mr. Holland had shared with her. It was an extremely valuable case file, but also incredibly complex. It was filled with so much technical jargon that even someone at Annabelle’s level could barely make sense of it.
As she worked, Leona Grant suddenly turned to look at her.
Annabelle was engrossed in the case file. Her brow was deeply furrowed as she read through a particularly complicated section. She picked up her coffee, took a delicate sip, and then went back to reading.
Her profile was flawless, framed by exceptionally long eyelashes. Every blink seemed to carry an alluring charm.
Leona Grant reached out, placing his hand over hers on the mouse. His large hand enveloped her small one, and a wave of contentment washed over him.
The sudden warmth startled Annabelle. She instinctively tried to pull her hand away, but he only held it tighter.
Confused, Annabelle looked up at him, only to be caught off guard by the deep affection in his eyes. She froze for a moment.
Then, she let out a helpless laugh. "I told you I should have just gone home. See? My being here is really distracting you from your work.
