Chapter 698: Still Want to Die? I Won’t Stop You This Time
Lauren was jolted awake, as if she’d been provoked. She began flailing her arms, shouting, "Stay away! Stay away!"
"Back inside! It’s time to eat!"
"Stay away! Stay away!" Lauren waved her hands frantically.
"Fucking drama queen!" the prison guard spat, slapping her across the face. "All you do is waste my time. Now get the hell over here!"
With that, she grabbed Lauren by the hair and began to drag her inside.
Lauren sank her teeth into the guard’s arm, who violently threw her off.
"AHH, I’ll kill you—"
Lauren was thrown to the ground. Then, somehow, her hand brushed against a knife. She grabbed it and charged at the prison guard.
A vicious glint flashed in the guard’s eyes before she shoved her back and kicked her hard in the stomach.
Vivian Yates watched the scene, her hands clamped tightly over her mouth as she screamed, "No, Mom, no!"
Chase Lynch watched her reaction with satisfaction.
Lauren stumbled backward uncontrollably. She lost her footing and plunged from the high rooftop!
The prison guard looked startled for a moment, then sounded the alarm and ran downstairs with everyone else.
Lauren had died on impact. Her brains were splattered everywhere, her face mangled beyond recognition.
The other inmates looked on, completely unfazed. Some were indifferent, others were just silent. One commented with mock pity, "She died after just a few days? How boring."
This sort of thing was a common sight in the prison, especially since everyone knew Lauren’s background.
Besides, many of the inmates were people she had bullied in the past. On top of that, many resented the wealthy, which was why so many had been targeting her.
When the other officers arrived to investigate, the guard simply claimed that Lauren couldn’t handle the stress and had jumped.
The officers lingered for a moment, then left without even glancing at the evidence.
An incident like this was nothing out of the ordinary in prison. Here, an inmate’s life was worthless.
Seeing that the show was over, the inmates also began to disperse in twos and threes.
Lauren’s body was simply covered with a white sheet and hauled away.
Vivian Yates, having watched it all, was sobbing so uncontrollably she was about to pass out.
Chase Lynch leaned against the desk, watching her with a detached air. "Still want to die? This time, I promise I won’t stop you. You can die a spectacular death, just like your mother... and no one will give a damn."
"Don’t say another word..." Vivian Yates, on the verge of a complete breakdown, grabbed her hair and screamed, "Just shut up!"
Chase Lynch continued in a slow, deliberate voice, "This is the fate weaklings deserve. To die without a shred of dignity, unable to even protect the person who matters most to you. How did your mother end up recording that video? How did she get pushed to this point, hm?"
"Vivian Yates, remember this: your mother died for you. And you could only watch her die on a screen, completely helpless. Meanwhile, your enemy is living a life of adoration. Are you sure you’re the one who should die?"
Vivian Yates glared at him, her voice sharp. "This is all because of Annabelle Linton, but you’re just as much to blame! Do you think you can still use me as your weapon? That I’ll fall for your pathetic attempt at reverse psychology?"
"’Use me as your weapon...’"
Chase Lynch savored her words as if they were the funniest joke he’d ever heard, then burst out laughing. "Me? Use you as my weapon? You give yourself far too much credit. Do you really think you’re worthy?"
As he spoke, he leaned in close, a wicked smirk playing on his lips. "I’m just taking pity on you. Consider this charity."
Vivian Yates was choked with rage. "You—"
