Chapter 696: Do You Think Death Is a Release?
Vivian Yates composed herself and sent a message to Annabelle Linton.
Annabelle Ainsworth: [A shocked emoji] Cousin, what is this?
Half an hour later, a file came through.
Vivian Yates opened and downloaded it, her face growing even paler.
It was surveillance footage of her stealing the video and audio recordings.
’I can’t believe that woman, Annabelle Linton, is so meticulous. She plotted so much against me without me knowing a thing!’
’Now, everything is exposed...’
Vivian Yates took a deep breath and sent another message to Annabelle Linton: What do you want?
Annabelle Linton didn’t reply with words. Instead, she instantly sent back two pictures.
In the photos, her mother was in a prison uniform, her face gaunt. Her father was also in a prison uniform, his hands in cuffs.
Annabelle Linton played with people’s minds. She didn’t have to say a word; just sending a few things was enough to make you break down.
She offered no emotional outlet, not even deigning to speak to you.
Vivian Yates now understood why Annabelle Linton had let her walk away right under her nose.
’Everything I saw and heard in that villa was probably exactly what she wanted me to see and hear.’
She let her go because she was confident she would come back.
Letting her go just made it more convenient to frame her parents.
Vivian Yates collapsed to the floor, realizing for the first time just how terrifying a woman could be.
And this terrifying woman was Annabelle Linton—the very person she had once looked down on the most.
She started packing, planning to return to the country and speak with Annabelle Linton in person.
This was probably why Annabelle Linton wasn’t talking to her—she wanted her to come back and talk face-to-face.
Her parents had raised her for so many years. She couldn’t just forget a debt like that.
Annabelle Linton’s target was her, so she had to go back. At least that way, there might be a chance to turn things around.
"What, giving up already?"
Just as Vivian Yates was packing, a voice suddenly rang out.
She immediately whipped her head around to see Chase Lynch leap nimbly down from the window, landing in front of her as she stared in shock.
He glanced indifferently at her packing and sneered, "What, thinking of going back again?"
The color drained from Vivian Yates’s face.
’So he knew where I was all along.’
Vivian Yates looked at him and realized how utterly ridiculous she was.
She had run desperately, tried so hard to hide everything, only to end up looking like a pathetic clown.
Both Annabelle Linton and Chase Lynch just treated her like an idiot.
She was completely within their grasp, jumping and screaming and trying everything she could, while they just watched the show.
’Ha. Dad’s in jail, Mom’s in jail, and there’s no way out for me. What’s the point of living?’
’I remember overhearing Annabelle Linton on the phone, talking about what she’d do to me... something about repeated experiments, and even digging out my liver. Heh...’
’Living like that would be worse than death. I might as well just die.’
With that thought, Vivian Yates grabbed a fruit knife from the table and slashed it viciously toward the artery in her neck!
But at the last second, her hand went numb, the knife flew from her grasp, and a powerful kick sent her sprawling to the ground.
She lay on the cold floor, tears of despair streaming down her face.
Chase Lynch looked down at her, strode over with a blank expression, and brutally stomped on her hand, grinding it into the floor.
"You think dying is an escape? You’re useless! Anyone who chooses to end their own life is useless! Think about your life, think about everything. Are you really content to die just like this?"
