Remarriage Failed Again Today

In a rare moment of unspoken understanding, Annabelle Linton and Leona Grant met each other’s eyes. They both switched off their flashlights and stood silently to the side.

Leona Grant seized the opportunity to grab Annabelle Linton’s hand.

Leona Grant pressed his entire body against Annabelle Linton’s, so close they could each feel the other’s body heat.

Leona Grant leaned in, his face close to her ear, and said in a roguish, mischievous tone, "Try moving again. Go on... Believe it or not, I’ll do something that’ll make you scream your lungs out."

Annabelle Linton pressed her lips together and sharply turned her head away, but she did indeed stop struggling.

Leona Grant smiled in satisfaction but didn’t move to release her.

Annabelle Linton switched on her flashlight and aimed it toward the sound. "It’s me."

Xylas Shepherd and Nathaniel Locke looked over, and upon seeing Annabelle Linton, they immediately relaxed their guard.

Xylas Shepherd ran up to Annabelle Linton and asked, "Annabelle?"

"Yeah."

Hearing her confirmation, Xylas Shepherd let out a huge sigh of relief. "Annabelle, it really is you! I was worried something had happened to you both. By the way, where’s Leona?"

"I’m right here," Leona Grant said coldly, stepping in front of him.

When Xylas Shepherd saw Leona Grant, he looked like he was about to burst into tears. "Leona, it really is you! I thought I’d never see you again!"

Leona Grant shoved him aside with a look of disdain and walked over to Nathaniel Locke. "What’s the situation?"

"We were set up. The strong winds were man-made, intended to trap us on this island. Xylas and I fell into the water, and we’ve been monitored the entire way," Nathaniel Locke said nonchalantly, fiddling with a silver-grey lighter in his hand.

Leona Grant’s expression grew grim. "I know. I spotted a drone while we were parachuting. This maze is also full of cameras, but I’ve destroyed them. I just don’t know who’s behind this."

’I didn’t notice a single camera,’ Annabelle Linton thought, shooting Leona Grant a surprised look. ’When did he spot them and destroy them?’

But judging by Nathaniel Locke’s words, the cameras were real.

Annabelle Linton couldn’t help but admire Leona Grant’s reconnaissance skills.

"Let’s worry about that later." Nathaniel Locke straightened up and put the lighter in his pocket. "Our top priority right now is to figure out the rules of this maze. Let’s get started."
