Chapter 235 - 234: His Wife Must Have Suffered a Lot
Leona Grant figured that was true. He just hadn’t given it much thought at the time.
Annabelle Linton finished speaking and focused on roasting the fish.
Leona Grant watched her, her eyes lowered in concentration. The longer he looked, the more beautiful he found her.
There was something particularly unique about Annabelle Linton.
The first time you saw her, you could tell she was special. The more time you spent with her, the more you grew to like her company. Even when you argued and things turned unpleasant, you still wanted to talk to her.
She possessed a cool, glamorous charm, as if shrouded in mist, irresistibly drawing your gaze and making you want to gently push aside the hazy veil to see what lay beneath.
Leona Grant scanned his surroundings and asked, "How long was I asleep? Where are Xylas Shepherd and the others?"
"All night," Annabelle Linton said, handing him a roasted fish. "I haven’t seen them, but I think they’re probably on the same island as us."
’After all, we parachuted at around the same time and went through similar wind conditions.’
’I just don’t know if they’re safe.’
Annabelle Linton picked up a roasted fish for herself and took a small bite. Then, she pulled a scanner and a compass from the emergency pack she’d retrieved from the plane, checking her position as she walked.
Unfortunately, they were completely useless. She pulled out her phone, but it had no signal either.
’What the hell kind of place is this? Not even a single bar of signal!’
Still, Annabelle Linton didn’t toss them. The devices were durable and waterproof, so the issue had to be their location. She kept them, figuring they might come in handy later.
Leona Grant took the roasted fish and began to eat.
Of course, it didn’t taste good. It was just a fish cooked over a fire, without any seasoning whatsoever. For someone accustomed to a life of luxury, it was truly difficult to stomach.
Yet, Leona Grant found it delicious.
He looked up at Annabelle Linton. She was eating her fish, her gaze calm and steady as she stared out at the sea. She was so quiet.
Watching her eat the fish so expressionlessly, Leona Grant suddenly felt a pang of heartache for her.
’If it were any other woman,’ he thought, ’she’d probably be wailing and throwing a tantrum by now, right?’
’My wife must have endured a lot of hardship.’
Leona Grant pursed his lips and looked at Annabelle Linton. "Annabelle, why do you seem so comfortable with wilderness survival?"
In truth, she wasn’t exactly accustomed to it, but she certainly had the basic knowledge.
More importantly, in her past life, she had been tricked by Vivian Yates, who lured her deep into the mountains and abandoned her.
Vivian Yates knew she had claustrophobia and had intended to kill her secretly.
But she had overcome the ordeal. She spent an entire night alone in a forest cave and wasn’t found until the next day.
Ever since then, she had desperately studied wilderness survival, terrified of being in a situation where she might die without even knowing how.
Annabelle Linton gave him an indifferent look and said nonchalantly, "I think you should be focusing on how to get off this island safely, not on me."
Leona Grant looked at her, the corners of his lips curling into a devilish grin. "You’re my wife. What’s wrong with being concerned about you?"
Annabelle Linton shot him a look and coldly uttered a single word: "Pathetic."
Leona Grant watched Annabelle Linton maintain her emotionless facade and, for some reason, found it incredibly cool.
After finishing the fish, the two began to discuss how to get off the island.
"We’re on the shore of this island now. It seems to be completely surrounded by the sea. There are no people, only animals. Ahead of us is a forest. It’s vast and deep. I took a quick look inside; it’s filled with trees, plants, and wildlife.
"We don’t have any information right now, so we can only play it by ear. My plan is to cross this forest and see what’s on the other side. There might be people over there. If so, we can be rescued," Annabelle Linton explained, telling Leona Grant her plan.
