Remarriage Failed Again Today

Chapter 225: Wife, Let’s Stop Fighting, Okay?...

"I missed you..."

Annabelle Linton froze when she heard his words, and her shock was immediately replaced by endless coldness and disgust.

’Could you stop being so disgusting?’

She would rather he treat her with the same cold indifference as before than have him harbor any feelings for her.

Annabelle Linton scoffed and snapped, "Let go!"

"I won’t!" Leona Grant’s arms tightened around her, squeezing so hard Annabelle Linton could barely breathe. His eyes were bloodshot as he said, "I’m not letting go. If I let go, you’ll leave. If you leave, you won’t want me anymore. Annabelle Linton, don’t do this to me. Don’t abandon me, okay? You can hit me, you can curse me—anything. Just please, don’t abandon me. I’m in so much pain..."

Leona Grant held her, savoring the fleeting moment he had her in his arms.

Even though her body was cold in his embrace, devoid of any warmth, he still wanted to hold on.

’He couldn’t remember when he’d first been drawn to her, nor when he’d started wanting to see her all the time. He had never loved anyone else, but he knew she was different.’

’Special.’

’He didn’t want to let her go, because only when his mind was this muddled could he hold her and feel her heartbeat. He was afraid that if he loosened his grip for even a second, she would vanish.’

’It was also the only way he could get her attention, to make her look at him for just a moment longer. Just a moment.’

After several sleepless nights, Leona Grant’s voice was hoarse and weary. "Darling, can we please stop fighting? I don’t want to fight with you anymore..."

Hearing this, Annabelle Linton felt a sharp pang in her heart for a split second.

It wasn’t because of Leona Grant’s deep affection, but because of all the naive years she had wasted and seen betrayed.

She felt a flicker of shared misery, but she would not pity him.

But Leona Grant’s words only made Annabelle Linton colder. Ignoring him, she shoved him away with all her might.

’Leona Grant, my heart died the moment you killed me and our child.’

’Any feelings I had for you died along with it.’

As his arms fell empty, Leona Grant froze, stunned. Then, his eyes turning scarlet, he roared at her in anguish, "Annabelle Linton, you fucking pushed me away again! You’re rejecting me again!

"Why? Why can Aaron Wyatt hold you and touch you? Why can you smile at him, but with me... you’re so goddamn cruel?!"

His voice then cracked with barely suppressed anguish and self-pity. "Where the hell do I fall short of him? Or tell me what you don’t like about me, and I’ll fucking change it! Isn’t that enough?!"

Annabelle Linton just looked at him and smiled coldly. Her face showed no emotion other than casual, cutting mockery.

"In my eyes, he’s the best. And you, Leona Grant, you can’t compare to him in any way. Also, don’t ever say such disgusting things to me again."

The sarcastic curve of Annabelle Linton’s lips deepened. Her most beautiful smile was a tribute to a devotion long dead. "Leona Grant, the damage you’ve done to me is irreparable. You will never get another chance."

When Leona Grant heard this, a sharp, violent pang of heartache struck him, and panic flooded his entire body.

In his hazy vision, he thought he saw a pair of eyes from the past looking at him—eyes brimming with tears, full of desperation, sorrow, and deep affection.

And he had merely sneered at them.

’Have the tables turned?’

’If he had known then how much a person’s coldness could hurt someone...’

’If he had known his own heart could ache this much, he never would have treated her like that.’

But then the image shifted, and the sight of her sharing a gentle, radiant smile with Aaron Wyatt filled his vision.
