Chapter 199: Just by the Name Annabelle Linton
Vivian Yates looked like she was on the verge of tears. "Annabelle..."
"Enough!" The name, coming from her, utterly disgusted Annabelle Linton. Her face filled with contempt. "What, trying to change the subject? You’re crying a river, so have you given up on the dear friend you’re trying to save?"
Vivian Yates wiped her tears, deliberately putting on an act of ’I’ll be strong and sacrifice everything for my friend.’ She walked up to Annabelle Linton. "Fine. You tell me. How do you want me to beg so you’ll agree?"
"Kneel," Annabelle Linton said with a soft chuckle. "Kneel for me, and I’ll spare her. Hm?"
’Before I died in my past life, she wore this same smug expression when she forced me to kneel. I’m going to make her taste what it’s like to be humiliated!’
As soon as she finished speaking, everyone in the room stared at Annabelle Linton in shock.
Vivian Yates’s eyes widened. "You—"
"Annabelle Linton, don’t push your luck! That’s right, I’m the one who insulted you, but Young Master Grant is the one punishing me. Who the hell do you think you are?! You’re just some bitch throwing your weight around with someone else’s power. You think you call the shots?!"
"No." The corners of Annabelle Linton’s mouth lifted, but her eyes were devoid of any mirth.
She looked down on her with contempt. "You’re mistaken. The one who’s going to ruin your face is Leona Grant. But you need to understand one thing right now: even if he lets you go, I won’t. Got it?"
"You!"
"I’ve said it before. Feel free to try me. Go ahead. By tomorrow, you’ll no longer be in Lynton. Do you think I’m playing games with you?"
Faye Sheffield’s eyes flew wide. "Annabelle Linton, we live in a society governed by law! Who the hell do you think you are, that you can treat human life with such disregard? My fate is my own to command, not heaven’s! What gives you the right to sentence me to death?"
Annabelle Linton gazed at her coolly, her expression arrogant, defiant, and icily beautiful. She slowly uttered a few words: "Simply because I am Annabelle Linton. And because of those two words—Annabelle Linton."
Leona Grant watched Annabelle Linton with his deep, profound gaze.
For some reason, she gave him the impression of a queen.
With her indifferent expression, she sat there composed, exuding the aura of one who could command mountains and rivers—unflustered, unhurried, and without a trace of human feeling.
Nathaniel Locke and Xylas Shepherd were also struck by Annabelle Linton’s aloof arrogance.
Ordinarily, Annabelle’s condescending attitude should have been repulsive, yet strangely, they felt nothing of the sort.
They just thought she was incredibly cool and impressive.
Vivian Yates, on the other hand, just seemed utterly fake no matter how they looked at her.
Annabelle Linton had no time to waste on nonsense. Her sharp gaze, devoid of any specific emotion, swept toward Vivian Yates. "Have you made your decision? It’s just kneeling. A life in exchange. Or does your dear friend hold such a low place in your heart?"
Vivian Yates was now truly caught between a rock and a hard place.
’It’s not that she was actually afraid Annabelle Linton had the power to kill Faye Sheffield, but with Leona Grant here...’
Suddenly, Vivian Yates didn’t know what to do.
Annabelle Linton watched her, her mockery growing even sharper. "What, gone mute? Vivian Yates, I’m curious to see just how long you’re going to keep up this act!
"If you really treasured this friendship as much as you claim, willing to give your all for your friend, would this request really be worth deliberating over for so long? It’s just kneeling, that’s all."
Vivian Yates turned to Leona Grant, her eyes hopeful. "Leona, Annabelle said... I have to kneel for her to spare Faye. What about you? Is that what you want as well?"
Leona Grant let out a cold laugh, his eyes tinged with frost. "I already told you, there’s no need to save someone so worthless. But you insist, so my hands are tied. Besides..."
