Remarriage Failed Again Today

Chapter 758: What If It Can't Be Cured?

‘So… that means he doesn’t know I have the virus?’

‘Or does he mean that even if we’re both infected, we still have to live our lives to the fullest?’

Annabelle Linton looked at him, her expression a mix of emotions. Feigning composure, she probed, “The way you’re talking… are you saying that if I don’t make it, you won’t either?”

“If you were gone, what would be the point of me living?”

Annabelle Linton couldn’t discern his true thoughts, so she continued to test the waters. “Leona Grant, I’m serious. If you died, I wouldn’t want to live either.”

Leona Grant paused for a moment when he heard that.

Then he gave her an exasperated look and said with a frown, “Why talk about dying when we’re perfectly fine? You’re talking nonsense. We haven’t even had a baby yet, so how could I die? Don’t say things like that ever again.”

Annabelle Linton nodded and gave him a kiss. “I won’t. Later, let’s go get you tested, okay? Then we can have people come and research it. We can’t waste any more time.”

Hearing this, Leona Grant’s handsome brow furrowed, and he responded in a low voice, “Okay.”

But he was lost in his own heavy thoughts and failed to notice Annabelle Linton’s distracted expression.

‘He really doesn’t know…’

Recalling his words, Annabelle Linton’s heart began to ache.

‘He said if she died, he wouldn’t live either… In that case…’

Annabelle Linton gazed at his handsome face, a flicker of tenderness in her eyes.

‘Forget it. I won’t tell him for now.’

‘What good would telling him do anyway?’

‘If there’s an antidote, we’ll both live. I can tell him after we’re cured, and it won’t matter.’

‘If there isn’t, then we’ll just die together, and there will be no regrets.’

‘If there’s only one dose of the antidote… I’ll give it to him…’

‘And when the time comes, I’ll find an excuse to leave…’

When they arrived at the hospital, Leona Grant went in for his tests while Annabelle Linton considered what to do next.

She had just formulated a plan: she would find her senior and work with him to develop an antidote.

Quentin Holland was a major figure in the medical world, and Annabelle Linton felt he was the most dependable person she could turn to.

It would be for the best if they could develop one. If not… there was truly nothing else she could do.

Leona Grant’s results came back quickly. The hospital belonged to a friend of his, and his diagnosis was the same as Annabelle Linton’s.

A new type of virus. No incubation period. Only four months from the onset of symptoms to death.

For a moment, neither of them spoke.

After a moment, Annabelle Linton said with a smile, “Leona Grant, I’m planning to take a trip to Serenvale.”

Leona Grant knew instantly what she planned to do. His brow creased into its usual frown as he asked, “To find Quentin Holland?”

“Yes.”

Annabelle Linton nodded and grabbed his hand. “We’re out of time, Leona Grant. I want to go ask my senior for help. Please, just let me go this time, okay?”

Leona Grant lowered his eyes, gazing at her intently before pulling her into an embrace without a word.

Annabelle Linton nestled in his arms, hugging him back and saying tenderly, “I promise I’ll get the antidote for you. Once we find it, let’s never be apart again, okay?”

Leona Grant gazed thoughtfully out the window, a faint, dazed look in his eyes.

‘He’d been too impulsive. Seeing her cry, he couldn’t help but tell her everything.’

‘But he hadn’t known the virus was so aggressive—that it didn’t even have an incubation period, and he only had four months left.’

‘He had assumed he’d have at least two years, minimum.’

‘Even with something incurable like AIDS, people could still live for several years.’

‘If he had known… he definitely wouldn’t have told Annabelle Linton any of it…’

‘In that case, sending Annabelle Linton away might not be a bad idea…’

‘That way, he could wait and see how things developed. Nothing in this world is absolute. What if there really is no cure?’
