Chapter 160 - 159: Aberration
The attendant lifted the lid of the golden tray, revealing a small flowerpot. In the pot grew a bizarre Magic Grass that had an infant’s face.
The moment the strange Magic Grass appeared before them, the eyes on its infant face snapped open, and it unleashed a series of eerie, bloodcurdling screams.
As the eerie screams rang out, everyone shuddered. Their Spiritual Power stagnated, a euphoric sensation washed over them, and their limbs went numb, rendering them immobile.
Cao Zhen’s expression changed drastically. "Your Majesty," he snapped, "what is the meaning of this?"
"The meaning? It means I’m going to kill you, of course!"
Su Haman III smiled faintly. With a flick of his wrist, a blue Spiritual Spear, intricately carved with a Blue Dragon, materialized in his hand. He aimed it at Cao Zhen and pulled the trigger.
BANG!
A beam of blue light slammed into Cao Zhen’s head, completely obliterating it. The head of the Spirit Sect Realm expert from Shuijing High School exploded, scattering a large mist of blood across the ground.
Disbelief flashed in Queen Saren’s eyes. "Your Majesty," she said slowly, "what in the world are you doing? Why would you do that?"
Cao Zhen was a Spirit Sect Realm expert from the Qianyuan Republic, a man of great status and influence. For Su Haman III to kill him in public would undoubtedly provoke a terrible and bloody retaliation from the Qianyuan Republic.
Su Haman III smiled faintly. "Because Ah Fei Fei has been my subordinate from the very beginning."
Ah Fei Fei stepped out from the side of the hall. He gave Queen Saren a slight bow and chuckled, "Greetings, Your Majesty."
’This is a complete disaster!’
The moment Zhao Zixing saw Ah Fei Fei, her expression soured. She ground her teeth and frantically tried to circulate her Spiritual Power, desperately trying to regain control of her body.
But no matter how she tried to channel her Spiritual Power, she remained sluggish, unable to summon even a shred of strength. She couldn’t even move her body.
"Zhao Zixing, the Fairy Juice is, by itself, harmless and non-toxic. However, when someone who has consumed it then hears the cry of the Manluo Human-faced Grass, a peculiar substance forms inside the body, leaving one drowsy and utterly weak."
"You would have to be one of the legendary Divine Creatures to resist this peculiar substance. Otherwise, even an expert at the Spirit Sect Realm would be left completely limp and powerless. This condition lasts for an entire day, so you needn’t bother struggling."
Su Haman III said with a gentle smile to Zhao Zixing.
Looking at Su Haman III’s gentle smile, a chill crept through the hearts of the five prodigies from the Qianyuan Republic. A moment ago, Su Haman III had been smiling at Cao Zhen just like this, only to turn on him in an instant and blow his head off. His methods were nothing short of terrifying.
’Divine Creatures? So it’s true, this strange, toxic substance has no effect on me!’
A thought flashed through Shu Feng’s mind. As he began to circulate the Sun and Moon Scripture, the Great Sun Spiritual Power within him surged, incinerating the peculiar substance and converting it into exceptionally pure Spiritual Power.
Prince Huck, the eldest son, asked, "Father, can you cure us of this poison now?"
"Not yet. Because you are all to become sacrifices for the resurrection of the great Lord of the Dark Night!"
Su Haman III smiled faintly, aimed the Spiritual Spear at Huck’s head, and pulled the trigger.
A beam of blue light slammed into Huck’s head, shattering it to pieces.
Ah Fei Fei, holding a Divine Statue of the Lord of the Dark Night, began chanting a mysterious incantation and pointed toward Huck’s corpse.
The palm-sized Divine Statue of the Lord of the Dark Night opened its mouth and took a breath. A bloody mist rose from Huck’s corpse and was drawn into the statue.
As the bloody mist emerged, Huck’s body shriveled into a dry husk.
"Your Majesty, have you gone mad?! Huck... he’s our child! No matter how disappointing he might have been, he was our own flesh and blood! Why did you kill him?! WHY!!"
Terror and Despair flashed in Saren’s eyes. Tears streamed down her face as she let out a soul-tearing scream.
Though Huck was far less capable than the third Prince, Su Limo, he was still Saren’s biological son. To see him killed by Su Haman III’s own hand was enough to make her completely break down.
Hanani, Su Limo, and Hassina stared at the gently smiling Su Haman III, a deep chill and an ominous premonition creeping into their hearts.
"Saren, my founding ancestor was a disciple of the Lord of the Dark Night. Our ancestors received a gift of Power from the Lord, which enabled them to achieve greatness and found the Leiyin Republic."
"But along with that Power, our family was also cursed by the Lord of the Dark Night. If we cannot resurrect the Lord, then our family line is doomed to die before the age of fifty. I am already forty-nine, and I do not wish to die. Therefore, the Lord of the Dark Night must be resurrected."
"Our family line serves as both the servants of the Lord of the Dark Night and the key to His resurrection. Only by sacrificing enough of our pure-blooded kin can He be revived."
"Once the Lord of the Dark Night is resurrected, according to the pact made by my ancestors, He will grant me immense Power, a long life, and even make me one of His Servant Gods."
"Saren, you’ve done a wonderful job. You bore me four outstanding children, and every one of them carries the pure blood of our line. None of my thirty-six illegitimate offspring can compare."
"Hassina, in particular. The blood flowing through your veins is even purer than that of our founding ancestor, making you the perfect vessel to host the Lord of the Dark Night’s resurrection."
"I just need to sacrifice the few of you, then drain the life from the seven hundred thousand people in the capital. Then, the great undertaking of resurrecting my Lord will be complete."
Su Haman III smiled faintly, his gaze falling upon Hassina as if she were a priceless treasure, as he slowly laid his great secret bare.
Hassina’s eyes grew red, and tears streamed down her face. "Father," she cried in disbelief, "did you bring us into this world just to use us as vessels for the Lord of the Dark Night’s resurrection?"
Hanani and Su Limo also stared at Su Haman III, their faces masks of disbelief. This was the man they had worshipped and adored since childhood.
"That’s right. You are nothing but the tools I created to resurrect the Lord of the Dark Night."
Su Haman III sighed softly. His gaze fell upon Shu Feng, and his expression turned frigid with killing intent. "It’s all your fault, Shu Feng," he said, his voice cold. "If it weren’t for you, our ritual could have proceeded smoothly in due time. They could have lived a few more days!"
"Now, hand over my Lord’s arm! I can grant you an intact corpse. Otherwise, I will chop you to pieces and feed you to the dogs!"
Su Haman III’s expression darkened, his gaze turning as cold as ice. He spoke with the chilling voice of a lofty, ruthless monarch who viewed all life with detached indifference.
Shu Feng said calmly, "Su Haman III, you’re something less than an animal. You’re the one who deserves to die."
