Spirit's Ascension

Chapter 139— It begins

Cole was stuck in his position with his eyes opened wide in shock as he felt the world around him completely frozen.

"Is this the end," he wondered.

He could have attempted to escape or dodge but Cole couldn’t move a single muscle. He was completely paralyzed.

The attack approached with unyielding tenacity and momentum so high that it didn’t look like it was going to stop. Giving up all hope, he closed his eyes to await death

Just when Cole closed his eyes and expected the attack to land, he suddenly heard a loud noise ringing from the side.

Boom!

A loud shockwave rang out in the air as Cole felt the restraint on him loosen before finally vanishing.

The instant he felt his restraint vanish, Cole was immediately blown away to the side under the immense shockwave.

"What is that," he thought while he turned to look.

Not far away from Cole was a large pit still exuding immense heat. The temperature was so high that the sweat on Cole’s face wasn’t able to fully form before drying up.

Cole suddenly felt someone approaching him with intense speed from the side. The person approached with so much speed it even felt dangerous.

He didn’t have to know who it was.

"Teacher Isaac," Cole thought.

He had been expecting them to arrive for a while now but he had no idea why they delayed for so long.

In no time, Isaac finally appeared just beside him with his eyes locked on the people in front of them.

"That’s a student bullying an elder," Isaac said in a low voice.

Despite his voice being low, it was loud enough for everyone there to hear. The already enraged Elder immediately began more furious.

His face grew so red as he prepared to send another attack out towards the two of them.

"Kid, don’t think you are some big shot just because you were able to block such a shot,"

"It seems it is time to show you who your elders really are," the elder shouted.

While he spoke, the large ball of fire floating above his hand slowly began condensing and growing hotter.

Isaac and Cole could only watch as the attack was being formed but neither of them looked as they were ready to give up. Defiance was dominant in their eyes.

When the attack was about to hit the peak and the elder was about to be released, they suddenly felt another presence approaching them at full speed.

Everyone present turned to check who it was and it was then the fourth elder calmly landed in the center of the two groups with a smile on his face.

Despite appearing to be in the middle of the two groups, upon closer scrutiny it was obvious that he was closer to Cole and Isaac.

Which means he was actually here in their support.

"Third elder, I don’t think such level of ferocity towards the younger generation is required," the fourth elder said while maintaining a smile.

"Stay out of this Edward, some people in the younger generation need some training," the third elder shouted.

Just a bit behind the fourth elder, Cole looked at his back while some thoughts ran across his mind.

"So the fourth elder’s name is Edward,"

Hearing the third elder’s words, the fourth elder still didn’t lose his smile, instead it grew even wider as he raised his voice to speak again.

"Yes, yes, I agree third elder, the younger generation might prove to be unruly sometimes,"

"And that is absolutely not acceptable,"

"So how about we do this, let me take care of them for you,"

"Great elders like yours shouldn’t be getting your hands dirty with things like this,"

While the fourth elder spoke, the third elder’s face grew increasingly grim. He knew what the man’s aim had been ever since he arrived.

"Do I really have to back down now," the third elder thought.

But despite his rationale telling him it was time to back down and actually let the whole matter slide. There was still a feeling deep inside him that made him want to press more.

The feeling was much stronger than the third elder thought it was since the next words that came out of his mouth shocked everyone.

"Shut the hell up Edward, do you think you can just stop me with a few words and a fake smile,"

The words rang out loud and clear and even slowly reverberated in everyone’s mind.

Despite trying his best to maintain his smile, the fourth elder felt the smile slowly receding from his face when those words reached his ears.

"Let’s try to calm the elderly, things are getting much more heated than expected," the fourth elder said in a forcefully calm tone.

"I think you didn’t hear me the first time,"

"I said you should shut the hell up," the third elder repeated.

Hearing those words again immediately produced some massive changes in the fourth elder and Cole and Isaac were the first to feel it.

Cole, being much weaker , felt it extremely clearly as the air grew heavy and dense around him. It felt like he was about to be crushed.

From Isaac and Cole who were the first to feel it, the feeling slowly pervaded the surrounding areas too making the other people also frown slightly.

"Damn it," Cole heard Isaac mutter.

From the feeling in the hair, it was obvious to everyone present that things were about to get serious.

Looking at the fourth Elder’s face, it was obvious he didn’t try to hide it anymore. He was annoyed.

The third elder too didn’t look ready to back down either and now the environment had switched from being an execution of some sort it was now a confrontation between two elders.

"Calm down elder," Cole also said softly.

When the confrontation felt like it had reached the maximum peak and the time elders were about to lunge at each other.

Something else slowly pervaded the air, it was unfamiliar to some but it felt familiar to some.

"Ohhh shit," Isaac suddenly shouted as he looked around.
