Spirit's Ascension

Chapter 132—Unexpected.

"Wait?" Cole suddenly screamed in his mind.

He watched as the man stood up and got even closer to him as if he wanted to do something.

Cole slowly took a step back and got into a battle stance, ready to respond to any weird movements at a moment’s notice.

Noticing the change in alertness in Cole, the man slowly took a step back to signify that he wasn’t a threat.

"Good evening, my name is Klaus. I came to tell you something," the man said in a jittery tone.

Cole was now utterly confused as to what to do in such a situation; the man he had been trailing and planned to capture and torture was now in front of him trying to tell him something.

Despite being confused, Cole knew better than to let his guard down, so he still maintained his stance while looking at the man.

"Who knows what sort of crazy ploy is in his head right now," he said to himself.

"Relax kid," he suddenly heard Eleanor shout from somewhere behind him.

Cole was shocked by her sudden intrusion, but he still quickly turned around to greet her.

"Teacher Eleanor, why are you here?" he asked curiously.

While awaiting a response of some sort from Eleanor, he suddenly heard another greeting from the side.

"Good evening miss Eleanor," Klaus greeted.

Cole opened his mouth to speak, but he couldn’t really find anything to say since he had no idea what was going on.

"I said to relax, kid. this guys came over to meet me yesterday and said he had some things to tell me, and so I told him to come over today."

"And as fate would have it, you were actually looking for him too."

Though he got answers like he was looking for instead of clarifying everything, more questions popped up in his head.

"Did you know you were being followed yesterday?" Cole asked.

"Yes, I knew, though I wasn’t really sure, and I didn’t now send the trailer, so I couldn’t do anything."

One of Cole’s questions was answered, but he still had a lot more questions in mind, so he got into them.

"Why were you disguised before you got here, and how did you do it?"

Hearing Cole’s questions, a look of reluctance finally appeared on his face. He wondered if he should actually expose it, but seeing the two’s faces, he knew he had to.

"I was disguised because I was avoiding being recognized by a certain someone."

"And I used my innate spirit ability," the man responded.

Cole and Eleanor turned to look at each other before sharing a nod, and Eleanor proceeded to speak up.

"Follow me, you have a lot to clear up," her legs are already beginning to move.

Neither Cole nor Klaus attempted a rebuttal; they only kept quiet and followed behind Eleanor.

They followed Eleanor to a part of the combat hall that looked to be like a storage room with one lone chair at the center.

"Sit down; let’s begin the questioning," Eleanor ordered.

Klaus felt the air around him tighten as he saw the threatening expression on Eleanor’s face.

"Before we even begin anything, you need to know you can’t lie to me," she said.

Klaus nodded extremely quickly and then breathed out a sigh to calm down.

"The first question I am going to ask is the list of missions you should use for our mission is not supposed to be for us," Cole asked with gritted teeth.

He watched the man in front of him look down remorsefully while he nodded.

Despite knowing that it was what actually happened much earlier, Cole still felt a wave of anger when he confirmed it.

"Why would you do that?" Cole asked.

"I didn’t mean to, not at all. It was just a mission given to me by the young master," Klaus responded.

"Young master?" Cole said in confusion.

He was about to ask who the young master was, but he instantly froze when the face of a certain someone appeared in his mind.

"Is it Sylvester?" he asked in a cold voice.

Hearing the sudden change in Cole’s voice, a shiver flowed down Klaus’s back as he slowly nodded.

Seeing Klaus’s nod of approval, Cole felt a deep amount of rage flowing through him. They had to experience such a terrible and dangerous mission because of the arrogance of an idiot young master.

Cole wasn’t just the one that was furious; Eleanor, who was currently standing, was also growing slightly annoyed since she hadn’t expected such a thing.

"Arrogant entitled pricks," she said in disgust.

Cole was about to ask more questions, but he just couldn’t find the strength in him to say anything without flaring up completely.

Cole hadn’t forgotten what happened the last time his emotions went out of control, so he kept exhaling gently to calm himself down.

Eleanor realized the change in Cole’s situation, so she didn’t attempt to force him to say anything; instead, she took charge of the situation.

"Now I will be the one asking the questions; you can leave now," Eleanor said to Cole.

He turned to look at her with eyes showing some appreciation before he turned around to leave the room.

"I will be answering your questions whenever you are ready."

Cole left the room, and without stopping or slowing down, he headed straight towards the exit to the combat hall. He just wanted to head straight for where he felt at home the most.

He was headed for the library, where he felt he could have a little bit of internal peace. His journey to the library was quite chaotic since Cole was trying to settle his mind while also avoiding any sort of encounter with anyone.

The long and chaotic journey soon came to an end as Cole entered the library with heavy steps.

The instant he entered the library, Cole instantly felt something inside his body.

"What is that?" he questioned.
