Chapter 128—Questioning.
"Really?" Cole asked enthusiastically.
"Yes, I think I have an idea where the problem itself originated," she replied.
Cole was just about to press further and ask where it actually started, but he observed the Head nurse’s expression and knew for sure that she was intentionally trying to make him anxious.
Instead of following the Head nurse’s arrangements, Cole just sat there and stared patiently at her.
"Patient, that’s nice," she thought to herself.
"The First problem with all of this is the mission you all partook in."
"From the description you gave me, that mission is at least for the third-year students, and it isn’t something you children should go on."
"It is even a shock to me how you guys survived," the head nurse said.
What he heard left Cole in an utterly confused state. Though he knew the mission was extremely complicated and tightly woven, he still didn’t think it was too much above their level.
But now it seems that it wasn’t the case at all; something else must have gone wrong.
"But aren’t the top ten students supposed to have a slightly more difficult mission?" Cole asked.
"Hahaha, you kids still believe that stuff. It was all a rumor the academy fabricated to make things feel fairer."
Cole immediately felt his mind getting blown by the head nurse’s statement. It just made everything feel like a lie to him. The academy could fabricate things like that, and this wasn’t the first time something like this had happened.
"They did the same thing after the freshman placement test," Cole said to himself.
It didn’t take long for him to realize what the Head nurse was actually saying.
"If our mission wasn’t meant to be more difficult, then the special list the man brought was edited or something."
This thought created a bit of a spiraling effect on thought as he slowly began thinking of the man’s actual suspicious action when they went to accept the mission.
"He came to us specifically, and he was also extra jittery, Like he was aiming directly at us."
"Now things are actually coming together," Cole realized.
The head nurse observed Cole being absorbed in his own mind in silence, not trying to interrupt him at all, but it looked as if she were taking extra notes.
"I know where to begin now, thank you miss," Cole said after a while of thinking.
"Now that you have a direction, you only have to calm down till you are discharged before you begin what you want to do."
Cole was about to raise his voice in refusal and tell the head nurse he was ready to leave now, but the moment his eyes met hers, he could only shut his mouth.
"Good," she said sternly.
"Get some sleep now; if you remain calm enough, you will be discharged tomorrow."
When the head nurse was saying that, she had already left her spot and began moving out of the room.
As she left the room, various thoughts were currently running across her mind.
"Why is this kid being targeted by so many people so early?"
"It is too strange to be a coincidence; something must be wrong. I hope he can handle it," she thought before releasing a sigh.
Back in the room, Cole was now truly alone with his thoughts, but now his thoughts weren’t completely random. He had a line of thought that he was following now.
"Now that I have a little bit of information, I should begin to think of a plan," he said out loud.
The longer Cole planned, the more refined it grew and the more tired he became.
At a point, Cole felt his mind slowly drifting off to sleep. It got to the time when Cole couldn’t think clearly anymore, and then Cole decided to actually sleep.
While dosing off and slowly falling into the dream realm, a thought suddenly surfaced in Cole’s mind.
"I wonder how Linda and Bryan are doing," he thought while slowly falling asleep.
Even though the night had ended on Cole’s side, things were much more active on Bryan’s side.
—— Cole’s Room ——
Bryan lay on the bed with his mind wide open and his thoughts racing to all sorts of things.
His thoughts ranged from Cole’s current unknown location and his situation until they finally ended on his own plans.
"Am I getting too distracted?" he said to himself.
"I came here for a reason, and I haven’t even begun my plans," his face scrunched up into a frown.
To Bryan, the academy seemed to be like a tool that would help him achieve a specific goal.
"I really need to get my head straight," he said with a serious expression before he also slowly fell asleep.
From that moment on, the night flew by peacefully in some areas of the academy at least, and soon Morning arrived.
Cole woke up feeling extremely energized and ready for what the day was about to bring. Before he could start planning or doing anything, the head nurse entered the room accompanied by the young nurse.
"Morning, Cole."
"Are you feeling any pain anywhere?"
"Not at all, no pain at any point," Cole responded with a smile.
The head nurse was instantly stopped in her tracks as she heard Cole’s words.
"Really," she asked again.
To which Cole responded with a nod and a smile.
"That’s weird. But weird isn’t weird with this kid."
"Okay then, you will be leaving this place soon; I don’t want to see your face again," she said with fake annoyance.
She then turned around to look at the young nurse that was standing behind her.
"Perform a round of treatment on him before discharging him as soon as possible,"
"Okay,"
Hearing the words of reassurance from the young nurse that was behind her, the Head nurse quickly turned around and began leaving the room.
"Before I get back here, you must be out of here."
After seeing the Head nurse leave, the young nurse did the exact things the head nurse told her to do.
"You may leave," she said after a bit.
"Time to begin then."
