Chapter 126—Impending Doom
The room instantly grew deathly silent as everyone tried to process what Isaac just said.
"I will be dying soon?" Cole repeated.
While he spoke, his eyes were stuck directly on Isaac’s body since he just couldn’t accept what he was saying. Isaac himself could feel the refusal on Cole’s face.
"Yes, but only if something isn’t done," Isaac said with a sigh.
"If something isn’t done, something like what?" Cole asked.
From the previous tense state the room was in, things shifted quite a bit, and now the air felt heavy.
"You need to grow strong, very strong, and you need to do it fast." Isaac said softly.
A calm and even slightly sadistic smile slowly took shape on Cole’s face, shocking everyone that was there at the moment, various thoughts coursing through their minds.
"How can he smile like that in such a situation," the young nurse thought.
"Is the dark energy beginning to corrupt him?" the head nurse thought in fear.
But the next words that came out of Cole’s mouth instantly wiped out all of their thoughts.
"I have always planned to do that; there are people I need to kill with my own hands," his smile slowly morphed into a dangerous one.
Isaac was instantly, completely obviously, at a loss for words as to what to say in such a situation.
"I guess it all works then," Isaac finally said after a while.
From that moment on, a slightly serious and slightly jovial mood took the room as Isaac slowly filled Cole in on the rules of the faction and what he needed to do.
"I really am part of a good faction," Cole said after listening to all the details that Isaac just provided.
When he felt like he was done with all he needed to do and tell Cole at the moment, Isaac stood up from his seat to leave.
"Get ready; I will be back to take you to meet the fourth elder very soon, there’s something we might need your help with."
Just like how he appeared, Isaac slowly melded into the shadows and vanished from view.
"He left just as fast as he appeared, uhh," Cole said while looking at the head nurse.
"Don’t even try speaking to me; I am extremely angry at you," she berated.
"You carelessly went ahead to do exactly what I told you not to."
"But what would you have me do? Lives were in danger; you can’t expect me to just sit back and relax," Cole responded.
The head nurse didn’t bother responding anymore; she just shook her head in pity and turned to leave.
That left Cole and the young nurse alone in the room, creating a slightly awkward mood.
"You know she is right, right?" the young nurse said to Cole.
"Your body will really break down if you keep doing this."
Cole couldn’t deny that he actually saw what they were saying; he knew the danger attached to it, but he just couldn’t let things be without trying to do anything about it.
"I know and I will try to be careful," Cole said in a truly remorseful tone.
"Let’s stop talking about me for a second and let’s move to you," Cole said with an extremely interested face.
The nurse hurried and took steps back as her face flushed bright red.
"Talk about me, what about me exactly?" She asked.
Seeing her reaction, Cole immediately realized what was happening.
"Oh, I am so sorry I didn’t mean for it to sound like that. I am just quite curious as to how you became a nurse here."
The nurse quickly let out a sigh of relief while placing her hand on her chest.
"Ohhh that’s what you meant; don’t mind my reaction too."
"Ummm, you can become a nurse here if you have a healing-related Innate spirit," She responded.
Cole’s eyes sparkled in amazement upon hearing her words. He knew that there was a wide array of innate spirits, but he hadn’t expected such a spirit.
"So healing-related Innate Spirits exist," he muttered in amusement.
That piece of news began bringing up some thoughts in his mind, but they were quickly drowned by other thoughts.
"How are you so completely unaffected by almost dying?" the nurse asked.
"Like you literally just escaped death, and you are here smiling so happily."
Cole was taken aback by the question since he had no idea what to respond with, so he could only smile.
"I try my best not to think of those things; I only focus on who caused it and make sure they pay soon enough for it," he said.
The nurse immediately felt her scalp tingle upon hearing such domineering words from Cole then.
"All right then, take care," she said while rushing out of the room.
"Now I am all alone," he muttered before resting back on the bed.
Being alone was more like an escape for Cole since it gave him time to relish in his thoughts and make a lot of plans.
"I have just 7 days to get out of the current dilemma that I am in."
"7 days to avoid expulsion. "I mustn’t be expelled."
So from that moment on, Cole slowly began formulating a plan that will make him slowly get to the root of all that had happened to him lately.
"Now I have to watch out for two people; things are getting so difficult," he grumbled internally.
Cole was given a little bit of time to relish in thoughts and do all he wanted to, and when Cole felt he had had just about that, Isaac slowly emerged.
"It is time to head towards the fourth elder," Isaac said in a low voice.
Cole didn’t say anything; he just nodded gently before he felt his body melding into the shadows.
"I wonder what the fourth elder wants to talk to me about," he wondered.
Traveling through the shadows was extremely fast, and Cole immediately felt like they had arrived at that destination.
But the instant they arrived, fear gripped his heart as he felt something tingle inside him.
"What was that?" he asked in fear.
