Chapter 78: I Consider You A Friend, But You Want My Mom?!
Raiden had a solemn expression on his face as he looked at the frozen Woolie in front of him.
"It’s not enough. Make it bigger!!" He heard Marina’s voice call out again, as she panted and instructed.
Raiden saw in amazement as Miyu started swimming inside the block of ice, easily getting out of it, before she started firing ice beams, reinforcing it and making the ice around him even thicker.
Raiden knew he had to do something; otherwise, if the ice got too thick, it would be impossible to get out.
Looking at the frozen Woolie, he started shouting loudly.
"Hey Woolie!! Is that all you have in you?! Are you going to lose so easily?!"
Silence.
"I know you have it in you, you can break out of there!! C’mon buddy!! Do it!!"
Getting no reply, Raiden started to feel restless.
The referee started shaking his head as he saw the situation. It was almost impossible to win under these circumstances. But he had a job to do.
"The contestant Raiden’s Woolie is considered incapacitated. If he doesn’t move in ten seconds, he will be disqualified, and the winner will be Marina."
"Ten."
Hearing this, Raiden felt even more worked up.
"Woolie, you want to be an Emperor, don’t you?! Is this how you are going to do it?!"
Twitch.
"Nine."
"You said you are going to protect me!! You said we are going to win this!!"
"Eight."
"You promised Aunt Ruby you would win this?! Are you going to win like this?!"
Unseen by anyone, a small flash of thunder started shimmering on Woolie’s body.
"Seven."
Raiden calmed down and took a deep breath as he started concentrating and sat down cross-legged on the spot. He started to tap into the bond between him and Woolie on the inside.
"Six."
"You know, I have absolute confidence in you. We have practised so long for this. We almost died while preparing for this. We have come so far, are we just going to let it all go to waste?" Raiden talked in a heartfelt tone.
"Five."
"You came at the darkest point in my life, buddy. You came and changed my life for the better. I have nothing but complete belief in you."
"Four."
"You are much more than just a Terra Beast to me, Woolie. You are my family!! You are everything to me!!"
"Three."
"Come on, Woolie, you can do this!!"
"Yeah, Woolie, you are my favourite fluff ball, show these rich sons of bitches!!"
"Show them who is the boss, Woolie, you can win this!!!"
A single person started cheering for Woolie, before it became a dozen, then thousands, before tens of thousands of people started cheering for him together.
"Hahaha, are you listening to this, buddy?!! This is just the beginning!! We are both going to stand at the top, aren’t we?! Show them who you are!! Show them why you deserve to be called the Emperor!!"
"Two."
"You can do it, Emperor Woolie!!"
The referee paused for a second as he shook his head silently. Even he started to feel something after hearing that boy’s speech. But reality was often cruel.
"One. And the winner of this match is—"
Crack, Crack.
He was interrupted as the ice glacier started showing cracks.
Marina’s eyes widened at it.
"Not good!! Quick, Misty, reinforce it further!!"
"Hahaha!! I knew you wouldn’t go down so easily!! Go Emperor Woolie!!"
This was the third time!! The third time, Raiden felt the call of power from his bond ever since he and Woolie were together.
Trusting it, he unreservedly channelled all his powers into it, as Woolie’s body started flashing with more and more violet coloured lightning, and despite Misty’s best efforts to patch it up, the cracks grew wider and wider.
CRACK-BOOM!!!
A Violet pillar of thunder pierced the sky open, parting the clouds in the sky as Woolie’s eyes flashed open.
Bang. Bang. Bang.
With each step he took, he started breaking the ground, as the ice around him literally started vaporising.
"Woolie!!"Emperor Woolie is back!!
"Hahaha, well done!! Come on, let’s finish this!!" Raiden laughed heartily.
"Woolie!!"
Just as Woolie turned around and looked at Misty, another voice rang out, stopping him in his tracks.
"I give up. You guys are too much of monsters. I can’t win at all. I am not a masochist, so I’ll just give up." Marina announced calmly.
Hearing her words, the whole stadium fell silent, before it burst into cheers together.
"Woolie!! Woolie!! Emperor Woolie!!!"
"Since Marina has forfeited the match, the winner of this match is Raiden and Emperor Woolie!!"
"Yeah!!!"
The whole crowd burst into celebration.
Raiden finally smiled in relief as he looked at Marina, who was standing opposite him.
The girl nodded briefly at him before she started walking down the stairs and disappeared into the corner.
"Let’s go, buddy. You were fantastic out there today."
"Woolie." Of course!!

As Raiden walked into the competitor’s area, he heard quiet sobs in the distance, freezing him in his tracks.
"I... I was so close to winning, Mom."
"There, there, my sweet darling. You did absolutely fantastic. I couldn’t be more prouder. You just stumbled upon a monster. It’s not your fault."
The older woman patted and caressed her head as she looked at Raiden, who was standing in the distance and watching them awkwardly.
"If you still feel bad, you can try cursing him out. It’ll make you feel better, that big beast!" The woman called softly as she smiled.
"Pfft—you are right. That big beast, monster, pervert, enemy of woman, bastard, bane on earth, a goo—"
"Ahem!" Raiden interrupted Marina, who was in the middle of cursing and kept getting fired up while cursing. The more she cursed, the more fired up she got. Hearing the sound, she turned around and saw Raiden standing there with an awkward look on his face.
Seeing this, a blush appeared on her face. Her mom had tricked her again!! People called her a sadist, but never wondered where she got it from. In her view, it was her mother who was a true sadist!! She just hid it better. Much, much better.
Raiden ignored Marina and looked directly at her mother, as he remembered her words.
"Ahem, you said you would tell me your name if I beat your daughter. Can you tell me now?" Raiden asked.
"Luna, Luna Valeska. But you can call me Luna, darling~"
"It’s nice to meet you, Luna. I hope we can meet more often." Raiden flashed a charming smile at her.
At first, Marina was confused by their conversation, but the more she heard, the more shocked she got before her head was blown off.
