The Violence Witch’s Yuri Harem

Ahh… Crossing blades… I thought I wouldn’t get the opportunity today. How nice.

These PSF agents also pack a pleasant punch thanks to their Matching Weapons. They’re so much more interesting to fight than soldiers with guns. They duck and weave and strike and push. Narumi and I actually have to work for it. Without a good blow, we can’t knock them out, but there’s so many of them that there’s no time to breathe even if we do.

“Took a while, but we’ve finally fallen into a nice rhythm.” I backstepped past Narumi while deflecting three attacks on after the other.

“A- are you still taking this as lightly as before? They’re getting serious.” She was having a bit of a harder time. She may imitate the way I call my skills, but she can’t imitate the strength I get from my levels.

It is what it is… I’ll give her a hand.

I turned my back to the trio chasing me and aimed at the group attacking Narumi. “Heart Piercer! Slash Flurry!” I don’t care if they’re attacking with Matching Weapons, a Heart Piercer is enough to either shatter the weapon or at least knock it off their hands. Their guard was down while they attacked Narumi and were left blinking when their weapons disappeared.

This is what happens in the end. We need to land a good hit to win against them, but that’s it. One good hit is enough. That’s how strong they are. Or how weak. Depends on the perspective.

The confused agents that thought their friends were keeping me busy now had to face me without weapons. “Don’t even bother.” I closed in with Agility Burst and sent them flying with kicks and punches. “Here I am, Narumi. Need a hand?” I sneaked behind her back.

“Oh…” Her voice relaxed. “Yeah… It’s much easier with you covering my back.”

“Right? That’s what I figured.” With a swing of my sword, I pushed the attackers on my side away. After a bit, Narumi did the same. “You can handle them if you’re not surrounded, right? How about this? Go after whoever’s in front and I’ll cover.”

“You sure?”

“It’s a good way to take them out without getting hurt. Leave it to me.”

“*Nod!* I trust you!” Narumi leaned forward and shot at the agents in front of her. They raised their guard, but her axe, swung freely, was a force to be reckoned with. Their weapons couldn’t slow it down and she broke through their defenses. All that was left was knocking them out. “I wish I didn’t have to, but I’ll have to hurt you a little.” With the blunt part, she delivered three quick strikes that dropped the agents one after the other.

*Cling!* “And I’ll take care of you!” I parried the attack aimed at her back and sent the attacker packing with a punch to the face.

Narumi clapped. “Nice… This is great! We’re actually unstoppable!”

“We can keep the House safe and do our job without killing anyone. This what you wanted, right?”

“Yeah! I’m almost not uncomfortable at all!” I’d point out that means she’s still uncomfortable, but eh… It’s the small victories with her. “What about you, Iroha? Is this what you wanted?”

“O- of course…” She ran at the next enemy, and I was one step behind. “As long as you’re happy, I’m happy. Why do you ask?”

“Aren’t you crazy? Kinda like Katja? I thought you’d get sad because you can’t kill.”

“What am I, a psychopath? Also, rude as well to someone who’s not even here. Where did that come from?”

“You need to kill to get stronger, right?” With a nice punch, she sent an agent flying.

“How do you get there from that? *Sigh…* You’re not wrong, but that doesn’t mean I’m obsessed with killing or whatever. Against guys this level…!” Now was my turn to send two grunts packing with a spinning kick. “I don’t need to start killing for the sake of it.”

“Sorry…” Her voice got mushy. “Just hold back a little longer. We’re almost done with them. Your bloodlust will stop when this fight ends.”

“There’s no bloodlust! Are you listening to me?! You’re just making fun of me now!” Impertinent little… “Is that any way to talk to the person guarding your back?”

“Hhhmmm…? What was that? I was too busy carefully incapacitating our enemies that I couldn’t hear.”

“You’re doing it on purpose!”

“Ahahahahah!”

What was it that she said to me earlier? ‘Are you still taking this lightly?’ with the same tone one would use with a dumb kid. Who’s the dumb kid now, huh?

The teasing lit a small fire in me, but it wasn’t that bad. That fire was the motivation I needed to kick the asses of the remaining agents with her. The last two limped out the front gate, clinging to each other for support. The House’s courtyard grew quiet at last.

“That’s all of them…” Narumi said. “The squad with Matching Weapons is the strongest force the PSF has. With them gone, they’re probably out of men.”

“Is that so? Can’t they bring in people from somewhere else?”

“It’s possible… The PSF is a branch of the Defense Forces… They have connections and allies, but… Getting other branches to mobilize would take them a while. Time they don’t have.”

“They better not.” I grabbed her shoulder to celebrate. “With the performance we pulled off, the others must have had a straight shot to the proof we need.”

Then came a quiet voice through the speaker in the ear. “Iroha…”

“Miyuki? Why do you sound like that?”

“Well… You see… We may have made a mistake, Iroha…”

“Hmm…? What…? Are you serious?”

She nodded. “It seems the others have run into unexpected trouble. Even with your distraction, the PSF’s defenses are too much.”

“That’s bad. What now? You saw us succeeding in the end, didn’t you? Will they turn it around?”

“I don’t know.”

“…” How can that be? This is your plan. “Wh- why not? You’re confusing me now.”

“Y- you know, Iroha… I saw a future where you recovered the House and defeated the Kurokawas. You get there through the scandal started with the evidence from this raid. The details leading up to that point, however, I don’t know. Nor can I tell when the future changes.” A moment of silence on her side. “Sorry…”

Narumi was hearing her too and stared with a worried look. “Is the future you saw going to change if we don’t do something?” I asked.

“Sending them alone was a mistake… The right choice might have been to abandon the House and stick together.”

“You’re saying that now? You’re the one who came up with the idea for this distraction. And what would happen to the House if we weren’t here? What if they used it as a hostage. Sure, it’s just a building, but…” I raised my voice. “This doesn’t make sense… The enemy is too strong for them? How? They’ve gotten so strong… Together, they should have been unstoppable.”

“Ca- calm down, Iroha… That was only an idea… Maybe you’re right and they’ll be able to turn things around. I don’t know. But there is one way to be sure…”

“There is?”

“If you go there, everything will work out.”

Ahh… That would solve all our problems, wouldn’t it? I go to their side, tip the scales in our favor, and get the evidence together with them. I was the one who thought they could raid the place by themselves, so if something goes wrong, it’s up to me to atone for my mistake. It would be really easy, but…

“What about the House? Are we abandoning it now?”

To Miyuki, the House was no longer under any threat. “You just finished tossing out everyone who could damage the House, haven’t you? If any stragglers return, Narumi should be able to handle it now.”

Narumi’s face turned pale.

“You want me to ditch, Narumi?”

“You’re not ditching anyone. All she has to do is watch over conquered territory. The worst’s already over, right?” That’s how she’s interpreting it.

“You don’t know that! They could send more people over and force her into a position where-”

“It’s okay.” Narumi tugged on my dress. “If the others need you, you should go. Their lives are more important. I can handle anything if it’s for them.”

I grabbed Narumi’s shoulder. “I know… I know you can… It just shouldn’t come down to that… I promised I would cover for you, so you wouldn’t need to do anything unpleasant. There’s gotta be a better-”

*Boom!* We were interrupted by a loud engine followed by an explosion. I pushed her back and faced the chunk of metal flying toward me. No time to think… Deflect it! I lowered my stance and caught it from below with my blade. Up! And the metal flew over the tree line behind us.

“Whew!! What the hell was…?” Tanks. Two tanks aimed their guns at us, parked near the front gate. Two actual, ready-for-war tanks showed up just for us. “What the hell!?”

“Wh- what do we do, Iroha? What are you gonna do…?” She faced the tanks, holding her weapon but looking at me.

“It’s not like I can go anywhere after two tanks just got here! ‘The worst’s already over…’ Who’d be dumb enough to believe that? We’ll wreck them together, Narumi. It’s my first time fighting a tank, but it can’t be worse than facing all those agents. Everything else can wait.”

“Right… We just can’t get hit.”
