What Do You Mean I Have To Comprehend Dao As A Mortal God?

Chapter 277: Calling The Other Two

We stepped outside once again, appearing in the field of tall grass.

"Is that really alright?" Maylene asked, looking up at me.

I turned to her, "What do you mean?"

"I mean... We’re just leaving just like that? Should we at least try to... Convince them or something? I thought our plan was to get them to act as our intermediary for other survivor groups we might find?"

I shrugged, "We’re not completely cutting them off but I think right now we just need to give them some space for now. They probably need some time to adapt to the fact that whatever they knew about their own world was just turned on its head and they have to deal with that fact."

Olivia nodded, "They are still in the denial stage. Most likely, they still believe their world can be saved and they can drive the Anomalies back to reclaim their world."

I paused after hearing that, especially since I never actually considered the possibility of a world being reclaimed.

But before I could wonder aloud if that was possible, Olivia continued, "Unfortunately for them... This world is already finished unless they have someone on the level of a divine being that is capable of removing all this miasma from their world..."

Ah... So it’s not even something feasible for them... Even if they somehow rallied together to push back the Anomalies from their World...

I also just realised that they would have to close up all the portals that have opened on their World as well, and seeing how they were unable to protect their own World from being invaded, I don’t think they are capable of closing those other portals themselves either...

So as Olivia might have said... Unless they get some kind of divine intervention or something, this World is effectively doomed.

Well... Not like it has anything to do with me to begin with anyway... I’m really just here to protect my own World from Anomalies... Especially given the fact that we weren’t really given much of a welcome by the locals despite having saved them more than once.

Even the Bunarfs treated us better than this, not that it was that high of a bar to begin with.

I nodded at my Guardians, "For now... Let’s just return and report on what we have seen so far."

They agreed with me so I opened a teleportation door and stepped through it with my Guardians, reappearing at the base camp that the Vanguards have set up.

At this point, they already have a rather sizable base set up and were even setting up walls that they were lining the perimeter with that would at least serve as a form of defense against an Anomaly attack.

Everyone in the camp stiffened when they saw the door appear but relaxed when they saw me stepping through it.

Seeing that it was simply their Mortal God returning, they went right back to their work without much fuss.

My Guardians stepped through after me and Olivia went ahead to let the Vanguards in charge of this area know about the potential survivors that might make their way here in the near future and what they should do with them.

For now, we have a standing order to at least treat the survivors as potential targets to be saved if they are friendly but we have also warned them that if they were to show any hostility, we should not hesitate to open fire on them as well.

In these situations, we have to prioritise our own safety above everything else. So if it comes down to us VS them, we will have to pick ourselves over them.

We hung around the place as the Vanguards finished up in settling the base before we left a few other worlders behind to watch over it while everyone else stepped out of the portal.

Once we were out, I made sure to thank everyone for their help today before I made another teleportation door to teleport my Guardians and myself back to the tower.

For now, I intend to give Siti and Diana a call to let them know about the new portal here and see if they are interested in coming over to claim it.

I left my Guardians to return to their own duties and pulled out my phone to make a call through the messaging app that I had added them in.

The icon appeared showing that I was attempting a group call and it only took a while for Diana to answer while Siti’s call showed that it was still in the midst of waiting for her answer.

The screen on my phone changed to show Diana wearing a wetsuit and clearly in the midst of surfing as she held her phone up with one hand while she rode a wave.

"Heyyyy! It’s been a while hasn’t it, Qing?!" She called out, riding up to the crest of a wave before she did a flip in the air.

I watched her land the flip as she continued riding the wave, entering a wave tunnel to ride along the wall.

She then looked at her phone to grin at me, "What? Captivated by little old me? You should come and visit, Qing! I’ll show you a good time at our beaches! The waves are nice right now!"

I cleared my throat, "Ahem... I’ll think about it."

"So what’s up? You’re calling to arrange a meetup? I’ll let you know I’ve been quite backed up this couple of days so if we don’t at least go five rounds after we meet, I won’t be satisfied!"

As straightforward as always...

I was going to respond to her when another window popped up, showing Siti appearing on the screen, the Malaysian Mortal Goddess dressed in nothing but a negligee that barely did anything to hide her curves.

It looked like she had been in the middle of a nap as she rose up from her bed, the covers sliding past her body to reveal her form.

"Mmmm... Qing? Hello... Are you coming? I’m tired of using toys..."

Seriously, how are the both of you so libidinous? Is that just part of your personality or is this a side effect of being a Mortal God?

I decided not to focus on it and just shift the conversation to the main topic instead.

"I’m calling to let you two know that there’s a new rift that opened up over here. We decided that we would involve the both of you here if you want it."

Diana rolled her eyes, "Really? You’re calling us about work? And here I thought this was going to be a booty call. What a let down."

Siti ignored her and rubbed her eyes sleepily, "Mmm... Sure... I’ll take it. I’ll be there in a few hours once I finish packing."

Diana gasped and rode her surfboard out to calmer waters to stare at Siti from her side of the screen, "Wait, you serious?! You’re actually doing work?! And going personally?!"

Siti yawned, "Mmm... Why not? This is an excuse to fly over there and meet Qing isn’t it? I’ll take part of the payment where you bend me over a table and pound me until I’m fully awake before I do anything, though..."

"Ah! Of course! Why didn’t I think of that! Then count me in as well! I’ll gather my Guardians and be on the plane over there in a few hours too!!"

I cleared my throat to get their attention, "There’s something else you two should know as well before you decide anything..."

The two Mortal Goddesses perked up and looked at me quizzically. Even Siti seemed to have woken up a little just to see what I was going to tell them.

"There’s survivors in the rift," I told them as a matter of factly.

Both of them simply stared at me for a good few seconds before Diana was the first to speak.

"There’s survivors in that rift?" She asked, floating on the sea on her surfboard.

I nodded, "It seems like that world is quite similar to ours and there’s humans over there as well. They are treating this like some apocalypse scenario where they have retreated to bunkers and shelters and are surviving on scavenging what remains in their world."

Siti tilted her head, "What’s the problem then? We can just get them to come over to our world as refugees, right?"

"There’s one problem though... They treat anyone with powers as mutants and apparently... They are quite hated in that world... Which means they really don’t like us either if they figure out that we have powers too."

Siti sighed, "In that case, it’s simple, isn’t it? Just kill them on sight."

Diana nodded, "Yeah. If they are incompatible with us, we can just flood them and wipe them out. There’s no need to keep them around."

...

Wait, seriously? You’re just going to kill them just like that?

Am I the weird one for wanting to try to have a dialogue?
