What Do You Mean I Have To Comprehend Dao As A Mortal God?

Chapter 113: To Chiang Mai

"My Divine?"

I turned my attention from the plane’s window to look at Ava who was leaning towards me.

"We can leave now."

I got up from my seat, giving myself a stretch before stepping onto the plane aisle.

The flight to Thailand’s Chiang Mai international airport took three hours and I slept through the entire flight.

Our government had chartered a private plane for us so the only people on the flight were my Guardians and the staff members on the plane.

I led the way to the front door where the stewardesses and the pilots were there to bid me farewell.

Thanking them for the service, I turned towards the doorway where an airstair had been set up to allow me to descend to the tarmac.

I stepped onto the stairs and descended it carefully, finding a group of men in suits were there waiting for me alongside minister Ma.

He quickly stepped forward and clapped his palms together in greeting, "Sawadee krap, Mortal God. Welcome to Chiang Mai!"

I clapped my palms together as well, "Sawadee krap, minister Ma. Thank you for your hospitality."

"There is no need for thanks, Mortal God. We owe you greatly for your assistance with the rift. Please,"

He stepped aside to gesture towards the small fleet of black cars that were arranged in a row.

I assumed that they would be driving us there so I got into the back seat in one of the cars.

Sergei was my designated guard this time since Olivia could not fit into the car and had to take one of the larger trucks at the back instead.

The minister got into the same car and sat beside me while Sergei sat in the seat at the front while everyone else spread out to occupy the other cars in the convoy.

We set off as we made our way out of the airport and into the city, where we would spend a night at a hotel first before we head towards the rift tomorrow morning.

Though I would have preferred if we just went directly to the rift to start with the clearing expedition, it would have been seen as quite rude of them if they did not at least give me a taste of Thai hospitality at the very least.

Thus, we would be treated as guests today and allowed to ’rest’ at the hotel before we clear the rift.

I say ’rest’ because they would no doubt be sending people to make contact with me to see if they could get any personal favours from me without the involvement of my country.

Perhaps they might even be able to entice me to switch citizenship if they played their cards right.

You know, just normal political stuff.

As the convoy left the grounds of the airport where a police escort joined us to clear the way, I nodded at the minister.

"So... Where is the location of this rift?"

"Sri Lanna National Park, Mortal God. We will head there tomorrow morning once you are rested. It will be a quick hour drive there, Mortal God," He answered.

The minister then turned to smile at me, already slipping into his politician mode to address me.

"Have you been to Chiang Mai before, Mortal God?"

I nodded, "Once... But that was a long time ago when I was still young."

"I see. What do you think about Thailand?"

I had to choose my words carefully, "It’s nice. Friendly people, beautiful landscapes and great food too. It has its own charms."

"Oh, I’m very happy to hear that! If you wish to visit Thailand at any time, please just give me a call, Mortal God. Shall we exchange contacts to make it easier to accommodate you?" He asked, pulling out his phone.

Sergei turned to look behind at the minister, his face unscrutable behind his hood.

"Nyet, minister. Our Mortal God’s information is supposed to remain private."

The minister smiled and put his phone away almost immediately, "I understand. Please accept my apologies for overstepping my bounds."

I raised my hand, "It’s alright. If I need help, I’ll get my Guardians to contact you."

"That’s all we can ask for, Mortal God."

Right then, cheering came from outside the car and I turned to look out the window, only to see a whole crowd of people cheering and clapping as we drove past.

The minister grinned and gestured towards the crowd, "It seems news of your arrival has spread to the population, Mortal God. They are very happy that you have decided to come help us deal with this rift."

I nodded in acknowledgement but said nothing.

I might have waved at the crowd but the windows were tinted anyway so they wouldn’t have been able to see me.

The rest of the car ride to the hotel they had reserved for me was basically filled with cheers from the people along the way.

The minister busied himself with introducing some of the local sights which I only listened to halfheartedly and just made polite noises to keep him engaged.

The entire car ride was less than ten minutes but it still felt like an eternity before the convoy pulled into the driveway of a luxurious hotel.

More people in black suits came out and surrounded the car before Sergei stepped out to open the door for me.

I exited the vehicle, waiting for the minister to join me before we were escorted to the lobby of the hotel.

No doubt, under normal circumstances, this place would at least be filled with guests but the entire place was empty aside from the hotel staff and the people in black suits.

The minister turned to smile at me, "Please relax for today, Mortal God. If it is not too much to ask, we have arranged for some entertainment for you tonight as well if you do not mind joining us?"

I knew it would be rude to refuse so I nodded, "I will be there, minister."

"Perfect! Oh! And we also prepared a gift for you in your room as well. Please feel free to make use of them however you like, Mortal God."

Without waiting for my reply, he turned and left through the main entrance with his entourage of suited guards.

As for me, my Guardians joined me and we were escorted by the staff towards the lift lobby and we headed directly to the lift.

I was given the hotel’s presidential suite and the Guardians would be staying on the junior suites though they would have access to my floor in case of emergencies.

For now, Olivia and Sergei accompanied me to inspect the room first and the three of us stepped past the entrance with my Guardians leading the way.

The moment we entered, I realised that we were not alone as there were two women who seemed to have been waiting for us.

Both of them were dressed in rather provocative lingerie and they struck a pose the moment we entered.

It only took me a moment to realise this was the ’gift’ that the minister had mentioned earlier.

Before anyone could say anything, Olivia pointed a finger at them, "No. Get out."

Truth be told, I would have also rejected them as well, though part of the reason is because I already know this was clearly a honey trap... And if I really wanted to get my rocks off, I had better options.

The two women hesitated, clearly not expecting this to happen.

I’m not sure if they were actually here to accompany me purely as bed companions or they were also meant to spy on me but either way, they were definitely not staying here.

Olivia stomped her foot, her heels striking the ground with a loud crack, "I said OUT!!"

Her voice made the both of them jump before they quickly gathered their things and sped out, only taking a moment to throw a coat over their shoulders before leaving.

Olivia then slammed the door shut before turning to Sergei, "If you would."

He nodded and stepped inside the suite, moving around the place while his shadows seemed to spread out and paint over the area that he was walking along.

"What’s he doing?" I asked, curious.

"Checking for any surveillance devices, my Lord."

Ah... I should have thought of that.

It took Sergei a minute before he cleared the entire suite and returned, "Nothing. The room is clear."

Olivia nodded at him, "Thanks for the hard work."

"Nichego strashnogo," He waved before leaving the room, presumably to return to his.

Olivia then turned to me, "My Lord. Since we’re in foreign territory right now... I suggest that security be tighter around you while you’re here. Even if we’re only here for a few days."

I pulled off my mask, "What are you suggesting?"

"Of course, it means that I will assign a guard to you that will accompany you twenty four seven."

I gave her a pointed look, "And the guard is..."

"Me, of course, my Lord. Please leave your safety to me, my Lord."

...

You know... I would have thought she was being sincere about that but her face had a pretty lewd expression so... Yeah...
