Chapter 241: The Cosmic Web
The journey back to the sanctuary was as gentle as a summer breeze. Adonis Kingsbane and Star Empress Mariana stepped out of the swirling violet portal and allowed their boots to touch the soft earth. The transformation of their home was nothing short of a miracle.
The grey sickness was entirely gone. The sky above was a brilliant, breathtaking canvas of clear blue, framed by the vibrant pink and purple clouds of their protective nebula. The grass beneath their feet was a lush, healthy green. The majestic flowers in the garden stood tall, their petals bursting with radiant colors and sweet fragrances.
Adonis looked toward the picnic blanket. His heart leaped into his throat.
The terrible spell had been broken. The marble stillness that had trapped his family was melting away like ice in the morning sun. Ignis blinked his eyes rapidly, looking down at his small hands.
Fwoosh!
A bright, warm spark of red fire instantly ignited on his palm. The boy gasped in pure delight, throwing the harmless fireball high into the air. Minos and Devon cheered loudly, their memories and joy completely restored.
Myria, Aria, and Sylph tackled each other into the soft grass, giggling uncontrollably as their colorful elemental magic danced around them once more.
His wives were also awakening from their hollow nightmare. Golden Knight Claudia gasped sharply. She reached down and grabbed the hilt of her polished sword. The brave, heroic light flooded directly back into her golden eyes.
Dragon Empress Sapphira stretched her arms wide and let out a fierce, joyful roar that echoed across the mountains.
Ice Empress Isabella smiled warmly, the freezing cold in her soul replaced by a comforting, gentle chill.
Goddess Of Darkness Millia watched her mysterious shadows return to her fingertips, while Vampire Primogenitor Valentina happily popped open her cute lace umbrella to block the returning sunlight.
"You did it, husband. You truly brought the stars back to us."
Adonis dropped the Chaotic Harem Sword onto the grass. He did not care about cosmic wars or ancient gods right now. He ran forward and dropped to his knees on the picnic blanket.
He pulled his children into a massive, desperate hug.
His wives also quickly gathered around him, wrapping their arms around their husband and each other. For a long, beautiful moment, the family simply held one another, crying tears of absolute relief and profound happiness.
They spent the next hour finishing their ruined picnic. Mariana conjured a fresh strawberry cake. Valentina poured sweet red wine. The children played games on the lawn. Adonis sat in his wooden chair, drinking his herbal tea and watching his paradise thrive.
He felt a deep, soothing warmth in his chest. He had fought the ultimate evil and won. He had secured his simple life.
However, the universe had a very funny way of ignoring his plans.
The Chaotic Harem Sword, resting quietly in the grass a few feet away, suddenly began to hum. It was not the frantic, screaming noise of an incoming attack. It was a low, melodic vibration. The obsidian blade began to glow with a strange, unfamiliar color. The violet veins inside the crystal shifted into a prismatic blend of silver and gold.
Slowly, the sword levitated into the air all by itself.
Adonis stopped drinking his tea. He placed the cup on the table and stood up. His wives noticed the glowing weapon and immediately stopped talking. Claudia stepped forward, her hand resting cautiously on her own blade.
"Adonis," Mariana said, "The stars are singing again. But they are singing a completely new song. It sounds like a million different voices overlapping. It sounds like a cry for help."
The Chaotic Harem Sword pointed its tip directly upward. A massive beam of prismatic light shot out from the blade, piercing the blue sky.
The sky did not shatter. Instead, it transformed into a gigantic, three dimensional projection. It was a map.
Adonis stared at the projection in absolute silence. It was not a map of his universe. He knew every single galaxy and nebula in his own creation. This map was infinitely larger. It displayed a massive, intricate web of glowing bubbles floating in a dark expanse. There were thousands, perhaps millions, of these radiant spheres connected by thin threads of silver light.
"What are we looking at?" Sapphira asked, her dragon eyes widening in shock.
"It is a multiverse," Millia whispered from the shadows, "Those are entirely different realities. Other dimensions. Other timelines."
Adonis walked slowly toward the glowing sword. He reached out and gently touched the hilt.
The moment his fingers brushed the obsidian crystal, a flood of cosmic information surged directly into his mind. He saw flashes of incredible, breathtaking worlds.
He saw a universe completely submerged in deep, glowing oceans, where majestic aquatic beasts swam through underwater cities of pearl.
He saw a timeline dominated by towering, metallic skyscrapers, where humans flew through the air in ships of silver and glass.
He saw a realm of pure magic, where floating islands orbited giant, ancient trees that touched the borders of space.
But the beautiful visions quickly turned into nightmares.
Adonis watched in absolute horror as the edges of the aquatic universe began to turn a sickly, familiar grey. The underwater cities crumbled into ash. The metallic skyscrapers in the other timeline rusted and dissolved into toxic sludge. The giant, ancient trees withered and died, their leaves turning completely white.
The cosmic curse was there. The Whispering Void had not just attacked his home. The grey sickness was spreading across the entire cosmic web.
Adonis pulled his hand away from the sword, breathing heavily. He understood the terrible truth. The Primordial Celestials were ancient beings of cosmic order. When Khaos had murdered them in his original life, he had only killed the versions existing within his specific dimension. But Celestials were multiversal constants. They existed in every single bubble of reality.
When Adonis unleashed his Heaven defying strike to protect his family, the shockwave of chaotic love had completely eradicated the dark matter sphere attacking his home. However, that cosmic explosion had sent a distress signal across the dimensional barriers. It had awakened the Celestials in every other timeline.
Now, those ancient entities were uniting. They realized that a chaotic anomaly was capable of finding happiness. They realized Chaos could love. That concept broke their strict, mathematical rules of existence. To prevent Adonis’s protective chaos from spreading, the united Celestials had initiated a multiversal purge. They were turning every single reality into a blank, grey slate.
"They are all dying," Adonis said aloud. "Every single universe is suffering from the exact same fate. The grey sickness is consuming the multiverse."
Mariana walked up beside him. She looked at the projection of the dying worlds. She saw innocent families in other dimensions freezing into marble statues. She saw children losing their colors.
"Can you close the door? Can you lock our universe away so they cannot reach us again?" Mariana asked softly.
Adonis looked at his own children playing happily on the grass. He thought about the crushing, absolute loneliness he had suffered when he destroyed his original world. He thought about Liam, the lonely author on Earth, who only wanted people to connect and protect each other.
He could easily seal his universe. He had the chaotic power to build an impenetrable wall around his family. He could sit in his garden, drink his tea, and completely ignore the deaths of trillions of innocent souls across the cosmic web.
He could be selfish.
Adonis Kingsbane closed his eyes. He took a very deep, shaking breath.
"No," Adonis answered firmly. He opened his eyes, and they glowed with a brilliant, golden light. "I cannot just lock the door. I know exactly what it feels like to have your entire world burned to the ground while the gods simply watch. I know what it feels like to be completely alone in the dark."
He turned to look at his wives.
"I wanted to live a simple life. I wanted to be lazy. I wanted to hide from the noise. But the noise is killing innocent people. The Celestials are punishing entire realities just to get to me. If I let those worlds die, then I am no better than the monster I used to be."
Claudia drew her golden sword. The metal sang with absolute justice.
"Yes, A true knight does not hide behind a wall when the innocent are crying for help."
Sapphira stepped forward,
"And Dragons do not cower in gardens. We conquer the sky."
Millia, Valentina, and Isabella all nodded their heads in silent, determined agreement. They were not just wives. They were Empresses. They were Primogenitors. They were the most powerful women in existence, and they stood entirely by his side.
Mariana reached out and took his free hand.
She squeezed his fingers tightly.
"You fixed our sky, Adonis. Now, it is time to fix theirs."
Adonis looked back at the glowing, prismatic map floating above his home. The burden he felt was no longer a crushing weight of guilt. It was a massive, unbreakable pillar of absolute resolve. The Chaotic Harem Sword was no longer just a tool to protect a single garden. It was the key to saving the entire multiverse.
He was the Villain of the Universe who had found a heart. Now, he had to become the Savior of the Multiverse. He had to travel across the dimensional rifts. He had to find the remaining Celestial cores and shatter their rigid, cruel laws of existence.
He had to teach the entire cosmic web how to love, or die trying.
"Ignis, Minos, Devon, Myria, Aria, Sylph!" Adonis called out to his children. His voice was filled with a warm, booming authority.
The six children stopped playing and ran over to their father, looking up at him with bright colorful eyes.
"We are going on a very long trip. We are going to visit the neighbors."
