The Flower Is Finished

Chapter 37 - 37: The secret of Something

I managed to incapacitate the three of them, then when I was about to remove the mask from one of them, suddenly arrows struck the three people. I turned my head while looking around, it turned out there was still someone aiming at me again. When I looked back, they were already gone, leaving three masks still lying faithfully on the ground.

"What?"

"They disappeared?" I said in panic. It seemed that the three arrows were one way to divert my attention from them, so I did not realize it, even though it was only for a few seconds when I looked around.

"Damn… who are they!" I cursed, then I immediately stood up and moved closer to Lany.

After they disappeared, I approached Lany.

"Are you alright?" I asked her, making sure that she was fine, and I saw that there was something about her that was difficult to explain, but something was different in her attitude, judging from her facial expression.

"Lany?"

"Are you alright?" I asked her for the second time, and she immediately nodded her head.

"Yes, I'm fine."

"It's better if we go home, it's already getting late." After that, she immediately hurried to carry the firewood that she had tied earlier, and I also carried the firewood to bring it into the house.

We walked, and along the way we did not talk at all. I only thought about what had just happened.

"It seems they were not targeting me," I said softly, while looking at Lany who was now in front of me, five steps away.

Without realizing it, we had arrived in front of the house and hurriedly placed the firewood beside it. She rushed into the house and I followed.

"Lany, what's wrong?" I asked in a hurry when I saw Lany rushing toward her room, and she also locked her bedroom door, which made me think that something was wrong with her.

Knock

Knock

Knock

Knock

"Lany, did something happen to you?" I asked to make sure of her condition, but I still received no answer from Lany, so I tried knocking on her bedroom door again.

Bang!

"This."

She immediately handed a book to me, and I immediately took the book even though I did not know what writing was written in it.

"Is this an ancient book?" I asked while flipping through the book that Lany had just given to me.

"Yes, this is a book that Brother Agis guards very closely." Hearing her explanation, I was immediately shocked. Was this book very important to Agis, or was it a forbidden book?

"Why are you giving this to me?" I asked in confusion while looking into her innocent eyes. Lany remained silent while regulating her breathing, as if there were a rope tightening around her neck, causing her to stay silent for quite a long time. I did not know what she was thinking, but she seemed very hesitant and conflicted about saying something to me.

"Read it after you have learned the language." After that, she immediately went back into her room and slammed the door, as if she was already tired of everything.

I kept flipping through the book in my hands, and when I tried to open it, it suddenly felt locked, even though the book did not have a lock or anything that could be opened with a key. I then thought about how to open this book.

"It seems I have to find out about the language first so that I can open this book." After that, I sat in the living room and occasionally glanced toward Lany's room, hoping she would open the door and explain what she had given me.

I continued waiting for Lany to come out of her room until the sun set. She still stayed inside her room, which made me worried about her condition.

When my eyes were about to close, I suddenly heard the sound of a door, and I immediately looked over. It turned out to be Lany, who had just finished crying. I immediately approached her and asked why she was crying.

"What happened to you, Lany?" I asked while looking at her, while Lany only remained silent, staring at the lamp installed near the corner of the window.

"Did something happen?"

"Talk to me, Lany, you're making me worried." I tried to talk to her, but she still remained silent.

She walked slowly and sat on a chair not far from me. I pulled a chair closer and looked at her, then held her hand, which was very cold. I immediately panicked when I held her hand.

"Why is she very similar to Lira?" I asked worriedly, while Lany only remained silent, gently biting her lip.

"What happened to Lany? Talk to me." I stood up and looked at her. She still kept her mouth closed, while her hands were already trembling from the cold, even though there was no rain or storm happening.

Then why is she cold now? I wondered, and immediately went to the kitchen to make warm water and compress her body.

I did not know whether this method was effective or not, but at least I had tried to help lower her body temperature.

After fifteen minutes, I brought the warm water and took her back into her room and laid her on the bed.

"Lany, let's go to the room first. I will treat you," I said, and she immediately followed without arguing.

I immediately compressed her forehead using a cloth, then she closed her eyes, and I tried to find out what was happening to her.

Several times I changed the water, but her condition was still the same, shivering from the cold. She was indeed unconscious, but it was as if her soul was not here, so I hurried to wake her, but she still kept her eyes closed, as if she was reluctant to open them.

"This is like what Lira usually experiences when something bad happens." I was sure that what I was thinking and what I was seeing now were the same, but Lira did not have a twin—so why were they exactly the same in face and body?

"I must immediately channel my energy to her, so that maybe Lany will feel some warmth from inside her body," I said, remembering what I did when treating Lira when she was cold like Lany.

I told Lany to wake up, and she opened her eyes weakly, as if she was waiting for someone's justice.

"Lany, wake up first. I will give you energy." I arranged the pillows and she lay back down on them.

When everything was ready, I closed my eyes and recited several spells that I had memorized long ago.

After that, I felt something flowing through my veins, moving and gathering into one. When I raised both of my hands, my energy suddenly flowed out from my hands and was delivered to Lany's back.

She felt warmth and still tried to control the energy that suddenly entered her body.

After ten minutes, I finally succeeded in sharing my energy with her, and she immediately fainted after receiving my energy.

"I… it worked."

After I succeeded in giving her my energy, I held her hand and felt that her temperature was slightly warmer than before, so I could breathe easier and then checked her forehead to feel her body temperature.

I did not know why, but Lany woke up several times, so I decided to guard her all night. Several times I did not sleep, and when I heard the sound of a bird, I immediately woke up again.

"Where is the bird that the leader gave me before?" I suddenly remembered the bird, which made me take the jacket I placed on the chair and go outside for a moment.

When I was looking at the stars, I suddenly heard someone speaking to me. I immediately looked around to make sure whether someone was really speaking to me or if it was just my hallucination.

"Michael… you must meet Xandres sooner."

I immediately searched for the source of the voice, and since my hearing was still functioning well, I stood up from the chair and looked around.

"Who are you and where are you?" I shouted in the darkness of the night. After that, a bird landed on my shoulder.

"You…" I said in disbelief, because the one who spoke was a bird, and I jumped in shock when it said that it could talk to me.

"You're a bird! You can talk to me?" I asked in shock, while the bird only clicked its beak in annoyance.

"Michelle, you must leave this place quickly!"

It asked me, but I still did not understand what it wanted, so I cleared my throat to speak to it.
