Chapter 723: Fleeing Famine 28
Yuan Chun lost her mood and turned to go home.
Just as she entered the house, 007 relayed a message, "Host, that man is called Huo Guochang, a big shot in the military. Half a month ago, he was framed by a villain and sent here."
"His wife, along with their children and grandchildren, has severed ties with him."
"Host, he might be your half-brother."
Yuan Chun staggered, nearly overwhelmed by this huge news, startling Sun Chunfeng, who was setting the table in the main room.
She hurried over to support Yuan Chun, "Mom, walk slowly and be careful not to fall."
"I’m fine."
Yuan Chun smiled at her, "I’m a bit tired. You all start eating, I’ll go lie down for a while."
Geng Dalin said worriedly, "Mom, I’ll help you take the afternoon off. Just rest at home for the day and don’t go to work."
Sun Chunfeng also said, "Mom, there isn’t much farm work now. Take a few more days to rest at home and recuperate."
"I’m fine, a short rest will do. Don’t worry about me, all of you go eat."
Yuan Chun went into the room and closed the door behind her.
The five kids were at school, eating lunch there, leaving only the three adults at home.
Geng Dalin and Sun Chunfeng exchanged a look, not daring to say more. Sun Chunfeng took out a bowl and set aside Yuan Chun’s portion of the meal, keeping it warm in the pot.
Yuan Chun lay on the bed, feeling troubled, "007, how could Huo Guochang be the original host’s half-brother? Su Jingshan loved his wife so much. How could he possibly cheat on her and father an illegitimate child?"
replied, "Back then, Huo Guochang’s mother, Yao Wanhua, happened to see Su Jingshan riding a tall horse in red wedding attire to pick up his bride."
"Yao Wanhua fell in love with him at first sight."
"But that day coincidentally was Su Jingshan’s wedding with Li Mujin."
"Afterward, Yao Wanhua became obsessed, thinking of him day and night."
"She learned that Su Jingshan was a dart master at an escort agency, so she went there specifically and spent one thousand taels to hire Su Jingshan as her bodyguard for three months."
During these three months, she didn’t allow Su Jingshan to return home, insisting he protect her at all times. As a dart master, being away for several months, or even half a year, was not unusual, so Su Jingshan didn’t think much of it, despite being newlywed and reluctant to leave his wife alone at home.
But it was a big job, and taking it would earn him seven hundred taels.
The escort agency and the dart masters had a profit split, three to seven.
Agency three, dart master seven.
Su Jingshan, wanting to provide a better life for his wife, hesitated only briefly before taking the job.
Afterward, he moved into the Yao family home, protecting Yao Wanhua closely.
During this time, Yao Wanhua made several attempts to seduce him, but Su Jingshan remained unmoved. Later, Yao Wanhua drugged him, leading to one intimate encounter.
Afterward, Yao Wanhua confessed her love to him and demanded that Su Jingshan divorce his wife and marry her.
Su Jingshan refused.
Yao Wanhua then asked Su Jingshan to demote his wife to a concubine and marry her instead.
Su Jingshan did not agree.
Frustrated by being manipulated, Su Jingshan was angry and even less inclined to fulfill Yao Wanhua’s wishes, and he didn’t know how to explain it to his wife upon returning home.
He could not divorce his wife.
Nor would he make her a concubine.
The Su family and the Li family were neighbors; the two had been engaged since childhood. Once, Li Mujin fell ill, and Su Jingshan stayed by her side while the other family members went to a big temple fair in the neighboring county, where they were killed by bandits on the way back.
After that, the two relied on each other and grew up supporting one another.
Su Jingshan loved his wife dearly.
Thus, he refused all of Yao Wanhua’s demands.
Angry, Yao Wanhua wanted to replace Li Mujin, but Su Jingshan, anticipating her move, secretly took Li Mujin and fled.
