Chapter 239: Ch 239: Are we still alive?
’Has Kris lost his mind? Should I do something? Should I go out and guide him now?’
Shuu watched Kris burning everything in his path from where he was hiding. He could tell that Kris had lost his mind already and was no longer a conscious being.
Instead, he was a ball of disaster that was going to burn everything in its path.
The boss monster had already been taken care of and now Kris likely needed a new target.
Before Kris noticed him and could come toward him, someone else arrived at the scene and stood in front of Kris.
It was secretary Ann and Yuri Blinkskey. They both looked unafraid as they blocked Kris’s way and Kris immediately tried to grab Secretary Ann’s face, only to be stopped by Yuri.
"Tsk, a kid like you needs to stop playing hero now. You have done more than enough. Now, you should go to sleep."
Yuri clicked his tongue as he ordered for Kris to go to sleep. But Kris did not listen to him and continued to try and break free.
That made Yuri sigh and before anyone noticed, he had knocked Kris out.
Kris struggled for a second in his grip before he closed his eyes and his body fell unconscious.
"Tsk, this poor kid had too much burden, but at least he made it out alive. Secretary Ann, I will leave the rest up to you. Guide him and make sure he is alright."
Yuri handed the esper over to his secretary and Ann quickly got to work. Shuu did not feel safe coming out right now, but he did not get to hide for much longer either.
The esper spotted Shuu and decided to come toward him to drag him out.
"Oh my-! And what do we have here? You are still alive as well, kid? That’s good. You should get yourself checked by Secretary Ann as well. You are not an esper, right? Then you got really lucky here."
Yuri grabbed Shuu’s arm and pulled him out.
Shuu was startled by this and his guiding escaped him for just a second. It caused Yuri to gasp and he instantly let Shuu go as he looked down at this hand.
That smooth and fresh feeling was unlike anything he had ever felt before. Yuri could instinctively tell that it had been guiding. But it was unlike any guiding he had experienced before.
He wanted to experience more of it. He wanted to feel that cooling feeling which made his body tinge and made his mind go blank-
"Boss, I am done here. We need to get out of here right now. The dungeon has started to collapse."
Secretary Ann’s voice snapped Yuri out of his obsession and he suddenly realized what he had been about to do.
Shame covered Yuri’s face as he looked down at his hands. He had not meant to act like this, but it had just happened. He had not been able to control himself and had almost tried to hurt an innocent person.
The dungeon was falling apart around him and Yuri finally snapped out of his daze and took out the safety gem.
With the boss monster dead and the dungeon secure, it could be used once more. He turned toward the dead monster and with one last sigh, decided to give his orders.
"Use your safety gem and get out of here. I will go and report what happened to the authorities. Someone will need to investigate this situation in detail."
Such a situation had never happened before but dungeons had always been unpredictable. There was no telling what could happen here.
They all used their safety stone and got out of the dungeon. Yuri decided to check up on everyone, but his eyes kept going toward Shuu again and again.
There was something about this person that made him want to keep an eye on him. His instincts were telling him that this was someone he needed in his life.
Before he could act on his interest and grab Shuu, other people started to arrive as well and they quickly checked up on the situation.
"Boss, Secretary Ann, are you alright? What about the dungeon? We got a message saying that it was closed. We paid so much for it as well. What are we going to do about the next batch of applicants?"
The head of the R&D department complained as he looked at the destroyed dungeon. He had spent a large chunk of his money to acquire this dungeon.
"Don’t worry. We will get our money back for this faulty dungeon. I need to make a complaint about this as well. This was not a normal dungeon, but a high class one. This could be a conspiracy in order to cripple us. We will need to be careful from here on."
Hearing Yuri speak like this made the head of the R&D department feel a bit better. Color returned to his face and then he looked at the two unknown people in the group.
"And what about these people? Who are they and what are you going to do with them?"
Secretary Ann tensed as well, wanting to know what his boss would decide.
Yuri took a look at Shuu and Kris before he made his decision.
"The esper would be recruited into our guild as a full-time member. He has shown that he has what it takes to tackle the dungeon. As for the other one...secretary Ann, he will be your partner in aiding me. Make sure to teach him well."
Everyone looked at Yuri as if he had gone mad. Secretary Ann looked betrayed as he looked at his boss and then at the Shuu.
"You cannot be serious? Do you know how hard I had to work in order to get his position? How can you let a no-name kid be in the same position as me?"
The secretary asked but Yuri had no intention of taking his words back. And that made Secretary Ann even angrier.
