Chapter 78: Carnage! II
Chapter 78: Carnage! II
In the VIP room of the Rustblood Circuit Arena.Anastasia and Serena stared at the floating figure of Kitsuul as if they didn’t even know where to begin.
All of them were knowledgeable, and yet, in the history of the World of Vael’nir and Ebonreach Metropolis... the little known about Interstellar Beasts never included the ability to shift into humanoid form.
Their origins were mysterious, dubbed interstellar because many believed they came from the stars.
They were looked at reverentially as creatures who could change the fates of humans and give them the capability to do things they could never even imagine before.
But then came the eruption of Entropic Rifts. Following the appearance of Interstellar Beasts, these unstable gateways began to tear open- spewing forth Entropic Beasts, some untamable, others capable of being bound by a Beast Master.
And of course, one could not forget the synthetic beasts engineered in the labs of beast corporations like ZENTHRA, among others.
The Blue Slime of Lyra Veyrin and the Winged Peacock Lions of Ariana and the late Alex were good examples!
But Kitsuul...
Her origins seemed to be much more than anything they could have imagined as she stood in a gorgeous form of a young woman right now!
"How is this even possible..."
Serena shook her head while whispering. But the figure of Kitsuul didn’t wait for anyone to process their shock. She jumped, her feet light in the air as she landed neatly on the shoulders of the seated Damian once more.
Her small frame shimmered with dazzling silver light that barely clothed her body, and she smiled sweetly.
Anastasia raised her brows at Damian, silently questioning if he was really okay with having a young woman perched on his shoulders like that. Damian just shook his head slightly and sent his thoughts to Kitsuul, who was now stretching her arms and playing with her fingers as if she’d just discovered something new.
And then, in the middle of that...
BOOM!
Explosions roared out- so deep and heavy they were felt even in the VIP room.
Damian’s expression darkened as he felt the tremors and spread out his senses that he was only just learning about that came with the elevated power of Kitsuul.
He recognized the surging bursts of energy.
Energies he had sensed before- within an unstable Rift that had nearly killed a Symbiotic Resonance Interstellar Beast Master.
"Why are heavy Entropic Energies of Symbiotic Resonance-level Beast Masters erupting in the Hollow Stacks?"
He stood abruptly, speaking with purpose. His thoughts were already reaching out to Kitsuul, who immediately turned invisible while still perched above him.
Serena didn’t even have time to process that before another explosion hit- this one very close, seemingly inside the Rustblood Circuit Arena itself.
And worse...
BOOM!
The room around them quaked violently. The ceiling above buckled as an overwhelming impact ripped through it, and debris came crashing down.
A burst of silver light exploded from Damian as the falling rubble reversed direction, surging upward. Light suddenly poured into the darkened VIP room- the entire ceiling had been torn open.
Damian swiftly pulled his mask back on. Anastasia followed his lead. A trembling Serena had to be handed her mask before she shakily put it on, almost as if she didn’t want anyone to see her face.
Her Void Serpent slithered into the folds of her coat, disappearing from view.
At that moment, the only sounds were screams and deep, thunderous impacts.
Across the arena floor, past blood-soaked audience stands filled with panicked, screaming Stackborn, two masked Interstellar Beast Masters stood. They had cornered two Vagrant Beast Masters.
Damian and Serena recognized them instantly.
They had participated in the rescue operation at Club Skyspire- an operation that had led to the deaths of multiple Glassbloods.
Now, they were here with their beasts, facing down attackers- Interstellar Beast Masters who had no beasts summoned beside them.
And yet... the Vagrant Beast Masters were being brutally overwhelmed.
One of them, a man with a Neon Falcon, roared out in fury and horror:
"Stop! Stop! Look at how many people you’re killing!"
With every strike, one of the masked Interstellar Beast Masters crackled with golden lightning, releasing devastating blasts into the surrounding stands.
He targeted civilians, humans and Stackborn alike, and each blast claimed dozens of lives.
The arena had become a massacre.
And then came his voice- cold, emotionless.
"You all kill whenever you feel like it in the Skyglass Heights. Why can’t I kill today? And—oh?"
The golden-lightning Beast Master’s visor pulsed as he turned his head upward- toward the torn VIP room.
Toward Damian, Serena, and Anastasia.
His gaze hardened.
"Hmph. Another two Vagrant rats above. Let’s wrap this up."
BOOM!
His partner unleashed another blast- more powerful, more reckless- as if they were eager to finish the job and ascend to silence the ones above.
Damian’s body tensed. His gaze locked with the golden-lightning attacker’s.
And then...
His eyes reddened.
He remembered a similar moment, not long ago.
Back then, it had been another Glassblood Interstellar Beast Master. One who had descended into a wedding venue and unleashed carnage.
Now, once again, he heard the entitlement. The arrogant authority dripping in the attacker’s voice as golden lightning scorched innocent civilians below- Stackborn who had done nothing but watch an arena match.
Beside him, Serena trembled at the scene of slaughter.
Anastasia’s eyes burned red as she spat out through clenched teeth:
"Once again, Glassblood Beast Masters kill others as if their lives mean nothing. Once again!"
Her voice shook with rage, as if she were seconds from storming the battlefield herself.
But Damian held her back as he stepped forward.
Silver light coiled around him- terrifying in its intensity as the rage he had buried deep within began to bubble, then boil.
"Let me."
His voice was calm. Steady.
He sent a mental command to the invisible Kitsuul to protect Anastasia and Serena.
And then...
BOOM!
He shot forward like a silver bullet, surging straight toward the gory chaos at the center of the arena!
