Chapter 68: Anomaly III
Chapter 68: Anomaly III
Advancement.Transformation.
Something unfamiliar to Damian, as all of this was new to him!
He didn’t know what to expect in the middle of all this chaos, so he made a decision while the world unraveled around him.
Veil yourself to complete your transformation.
...!
He gave Kitsuul the command- and this, she could easily do.
As her body began to shine brighter and brighter, she vanished the next moment amidst the chaos!
In front of him, the Trial Guardians unleashed every attack they could, despair twisting their faces as they stared up at the tear in space, spilling more and more Symbiotic Resonance Interstellar Beasts.
The Flaming Eagle Archaeopteryx of Guardian Flameborn roared as it fought across the skies, fending off multiple Symbiotic Resonance Entropic Beasts alone as its power stretched out freely.
Down below, the onslaught of the Tier III Initiate Entropic Beasts continued as Ariana roared out.
"What the hell is this?!"
Everyone hated what was happening, with no clue why any of it was unfolding. And things seemed to get worse by the minute.
As if to prove a cruel point, they all heard a screeching roar that made their hearts shudder.
From the tear in the crimson, clouded skies...
ROAAR!
A booming bellow echoed out, causing Guardian Flameborn to look up, her face ashen.
From the rip in space came a massive sharp head, followed by blue scaly wings, an oversized body, and a trailing tail.
A creature...that looked like a reptilian flying dinosaur.
But its features made it most reminiscent of...a Drake.
Its scales shimmered with a glorious hue of blue.
Lightning crackled across its body and wings.
Towering over ten meters tall, it was a Behemoth- none other than a Lightning Drake!
"Fuck. Fuck! FUCK!"
Guardian Flameborn roared out.
Because...
[47,655 Entropic Energy Value – Tier II Symbiotic Resonance Entropic Beast]
"..."
Damian checked the numbers on his visor more than once to be sure they were real.
"You’re getting the same values?"
He whispered to Lyra Veyrin beside him, who nodded with an ashen expression.
And Damian felt sick—responsible for this, wondering if he’d just signed his own death sentence.
But...
Kitsuuuuul!
Kitsuul’s thoughts reached him, steadying his mind. At that moment, a seventh tail had fully grown behind her- followed by an eighth.
Only he could see her.
And he watched her small body begin to expand, silver fur flowing like waves as she grew larger and larger.
Her Energy Values- though he couldn’t read them with the visor- he could feel them. And they’d more than quadrupled since entering here, as she devoured the endless flood of Entropic Energy.
This was the only reason Damian wasn’t in full-blown panic- he could sense that her power had shattered the boundaries of Symbiotic Resonance Interstellar Beasts. If her Entropic Values truly quadrupled from 5,000, she might even exceed Guardian Flameborn’s Flaming Eagle Archaeopteryx.
He confirmed it further as he tapped the visor to scan himself.
And saw the number...
[1,100 Entropic Energy Value – Tier I Symbiotic Resonance Interstellar Beast Master]
The value flickered in his eyes- this was 5%!
A percentage he now needed to adjust. He communicated with Kitsuul to veil both their energy levels...down to 1% of their actual power.
This would bring his displayed values back into the 200s, which he confirmed moments later as Kitsuul radiated an exhilarating burst of power- her eyes locking behind her, where...
A ninth tail was blooming.
The moment it bloomed was the same instant the Lightning Drake- twice as strong as the Flaming Eagle Archaeopteryx- locked eyes onto Damian.
It would’ve gone after Kitsuul, but she was completely veiled, invisible and undetectable. So, it honed in on the closest connection.
And that was Damian.
Its eyes flared with icy precision as it retracted its wings and gathered colossal surges of Entropic Energy, and then...
KAA!
It cried out while unleashing a storm of lightning all around.
A massive, area-of-effect ability.
Tendrils of blue lightning spread outward and slammed into the red earth, striking a distant Tier III Initiate Entropic Beast—its body instantly scorched black before it exploded!
The scene forced Guardian Flameborn to howl. Her Flaming Eagle Archaeopteryx shot back toward her, shielding the Trial Guardians as it tried to release a dome of flames.
But...
Lightning moved faster than flame.
BOOM!
A storm of electricity crashed down as the Trial Guardians screamed in terror.
Many stood behind their Beasts- Ariana and Alex leapt from their Winged Peacock Lions, diving under them for cover.
Serena had her Void Serpent coil around her, bathing her in black flames.
The Blue Slime on Lyra screeched and conjured a barrier, but with her meager Entropic Values...what could she really do?
Damian watched the lightning snake toward them, guilt blooming in his chest. His body didn’t feel threatened by the electric barrage, but when he saw a tendril hurtling toward Lyra Veyrin, he jumped in front of her.
He was not sacrificing himself or anything like that- he had far too much to live for, and a Guardian to kill and bleed dry.
He knew he would be more than okay with the terrifying power flowing out from Kitsuul.
But it sure as hell did look like he was sacrificing himself in the eyes of others when he went to stand in front of a deadly tendril of lightning!
Lyra saw this...and her eyes trembled in shock and horror.
And the Lightning Storm slammed down on a single Guardian and Trial Guardians!
BOOM!
Mayhem. Screams. Searing light.
Scorched red earth.
The smell of smoke and charred flesh thickened the air.
"Everyone okay?!"
Guardian Flameborn’s voice echoed, uneasy and sharp, as her Flaming Eagle Archaeopteryx flapped its wings- blasting wind to clear the smoke.
The scene came into focus.
In front of Lyra Veyrin, Damian’s body stood- glistening. His arms were lowered, smoke rising off him, the white ZENTHRA suit shredded across his chest and shoulders as his toned and glistening eight pack was visible to all.
His whole figure pulsed with a calm silver glow, masculinity, and primal wonder. His skin gleamed- radiant as ever!
Behind him, Lyra Veyrin stood frozen, staring in disbelief, while Damian’s eyes narrowed at the devastation unfolding around them.
And it was devastation, all right.
"No..."
Guardian Flameborn whispered, grinding her teeth.
Serena stood, chest heaving, her Void Serpent bleeding, her right hand covered in third-degree burns.
Ariana knelt beneath her Winged Peacock Lion- trembling and filled with rising weakness. Her entire Beast was scorched, split in half, its breath gone.
Vixor...was a coiled humanoid mass of charred black meat. He breathed no more.
Alex groaned beneath the weight of his Peacock Lion, lower body covered in burns, screaming in agony.
Death and destruction reigned.
Even now, Damian stood amidst it all, time seeming to slow. His gaze sharpened- then he turned and shouted toward Guardian Flameborn with haste.
"Dodge!"
He roared.
But she was too slow.
And the Lightning Drake...was too fast.
It hadn’t stayed still after unleashing its storm.
It hovered like a predator, and while everyone reeled from shock...
KAA!
The sleek, blade-like head of the Lightning Drake...
Speared through the chest of the Flaming Eagle Archaeopteryx—just behind Guardian Flameborn, as its chest split in one heartbeat. And in the next...
BOOM!
A thunderous crack of lightning tore its body in two.
...!
"Ah...!"
Color drained from Guardian Flameborn’s face.
Despair rose like a tide in every survivor.
Because now, without their greatest protector, a terrifying predator landed on the red earth.
And it gazed at them coldly...
As if death had already made its decision.
