Chapter 634: I Don’t Like You Anymore
Adrian Quincy tuned everything out. He was anxious and terrified.
His pregnant wife wasn’t very good at taking care of herself, and she didn’t know how to stay safe in a dangerous situation... ’She must be so scared. She needs me.’
’Dammit. I’m not by her side, and I don’t even know where she is.’
’Claire, don’t be afraid. I will find you.’
’Claire, wait for me.’

The flowers Ivy Tanner had planted finally bloomed. She had even looked them up online—they were sunflowers.
It was only a small patch, but they were still beautiful.
Ivy Tanner squatted among the flowers, carefully pulling weeds, afraid of stepping on the sunflowers.
The weather was muggy and still. Ivy Tanner was wearing just a fluffy white sweater, but she still felt a little warm.
She looked up at the pale gray sky. Suddenly, a gust of wind blew, carrying raindrops that landed on her face. It was so refreshing!
Ivy Tanner smiled up at the sky. She loved rainy days.
The rain wasn’t heavy, so there was no need to take shelter. She just kept squatting among the flowers, and soon her feet, hands, and clothes were covered in mud. She even got some on her face, turning into a little mud-caked doll.
Just as she was lost in her own little world, a white supercar suddenly pulled into the courtyard.
The supercar screeched to a halt beside the flowerbed. Ethan Kingsley jumped out, his long legs striding right into the flowers and crushing several sunflowers.
Seeing this, Ivy Tanner knew who it was without looking up. She slapped his thigh and said resentfully, "You stepped on my Flora! You meanie, move your foot!"
Scowling, Ethan Kingsley grabbed her arm and yanked her to her feet. "Can’t you see it’s raining? Get back inside!"
He started to turn and leave.
Ivy Tanner looked down at his feet. He had crushed another sunflower. Anger and sorrow welled up inside her, and tears began to stream down her face uncontrollably.
"Flora’s dead... You killed my Flora... WAHHH..."
Ethan Kingsley froze and looked down at his feet. A few sunflowers were flattened, but they weren’t dead. This type of flower was resilient and propagated easily; it was also a very cheap variety.
He hadn’t expected her to care so much about them. For a moment, he actually felt a pang of guilt.
"The flowers won’t die. Don’t cry." As he spoke, he deliberately avoided the flowers underfoot and carefully stepped out of the flowerbed.
"Liar! My Flora is dead! I don’t like you anymore!" Ivy Tanner sobbed. Rain dripped into her eyes, making them itch, and she instinctively raised a hand to rub them.
Forgetting her hands were caked with mud, she pressed her palm right against her eye, rubbing the dirt into it.
"Ah, it hurts..." she cried out. Her eye was both itchy and painful, and muddy tears streamed from its corner.
In that instant, Ethan Kingsley felt his heart clench painfully. A suffocating feeling washed over him. He quickly let her go, then grabbed both of her hands to stop her from making things worse.
"You’ve got dirt in your eye. Let me blow it out for you."
"Uh..." Ivy Tanner’s body went stiff. She could feel his breath on her eye, like an invisible net of affection snaring her completely.
’Why is he doing this?’
’Ethan Kingsley, you have a fiancée. Why are you still so good to me?’
Ivy Tanner’s heart twisted in agony.
The more tender he was with her in that moment, the more hopeless she felt.
’I want to run away, right now. I want to hide somewhere he can’t find me. I want to leave this hopeless world...’
Every time she was with him and thought of her hopeless future, Ivy Tanner would break down completely, the immense sense of helplessness threatening to shatter her entire world.
