Chapter 416 - 406: Only You, the Du Family!
The cruelest fate in the human world?
Staring at Qin Fan’s sinister, chilling smile, Du Tiancong felt every hair on his body stand on end. A suffocating despair surged through him, overwhelming the fear that already had him trembling.
"No, no, don’t! Please don’t!" As he babbled incoherently, Du Tiancong shook his head violently, his very soul seeming to quiver. "It was that woman who instigated me! She’s the mastermind! Let me go, let me go! Right, money! I’ll pay you! Ten million... no, a hundred million! No... one billion! Ten billion! I’ll give you ten billion! Just don’t kill me, don’t kill me!"
Tears and snot streamed down his face. If not for the image of Qin Fan kicking his mother away moments earlier, Du Tiancong might not have fallen into such complete despair. But because of that terrifying display of power, no matter how optimistic he tried to be, he could see no possibility of a good end for himself.
"Relax, I’m not going to kill you. Absolutely not," Qin Fan said with a smile, hearing the desperation laced within the man’s terrified voice.
But in the next instant, his right palm swung down toward Du Tiancong’s knee.
SMACK!
CRACK!
"AAAAAHHH!!!"
The sickening sequence of sounds erupted without a pause.
"My leg! My leg! No, no!" Beads of cold sweat erupted on his forehead. Feeling the piercing agony of his shattered kneecap, Du Tiancong let out a heart-wrenching howl.
"This is just the beginning, Young Master Du. I’m going to give you the most miserable life imaginable. A life where you’ll wish for death, but never find it." With another seemingly harmless laugh, Qin Fan’s palm immediately struck the knee of Du Tiancong’s other leg.
SMACK!
CRACK!
"AAAAAHHH!!!"
The same rhythm, the same sound. If not for the profound terror shaking him to his core, Du Tiancong would have surely fainted from the pain. The tragedy was, he didn’t even have the privilege of passing out.
"You’re a madman! A madman! Fuck you! You’re a heartless, inhuman demon! AHH! I’ll kill you! I’ll kill you! I’ll kill you!"
Witnessing Qin Fan cripple his son’s legs one after another, Du Zhengxu could no longer bear the spiritual torment. His face twisted in a ferocious grimace as he endured the pain from his shattered collarbone. Struggling to his feet, he lowered his head and charged at Qin Fan.
"Stay on your knees where you belong," Qin Fan sneered. He swiftly grabbed the Hemp Vine Whip from the hospital bed and, without a single glance, savagely swung it down onto Du Zhengxu’s other shoulder.
WHAP!
The soft whip cut through the air and slammed down. With a sickening crunch from his other collarbone, Du Zhengxu lost his balance and fell to his knees once more.
This time, he couldn’t get back up. Though only his shoulders had been struck, the excruciating agony anchored his legs to the floor as if they had taken root.
Paying no mind to Du Zhengxu’s desperate roars, Qin Fan looked back at Du Tiancong. "Let’s continue."
At his words, Du Tiancong, who had no strength left to scream, somehow managed another raw, throat-tearing cry. The next second, Qin Fan casually twisted his left arm until it contorted like a pretzel.
His left arm now hung limp, completely useless.
Crippled. Utterly and thoroughly crippled.
"As for the other hand... hmm, we’ll leave just enough strength to grab food," Qin Fan mused to himself with a small smile. He pulled the needle from the IV drip line, plunged it swiftly into Du Tiancong’s right wrist, and then flicked it upwards.
SPURT!
With a spray of blood, several tendons were torn loose and snapped in two.
"Kill me! Just kill me! AAAAAAHHH!!!"
With both legs shattered and both hands almost completely useless, Du Tiancong had lost control of his limbs in the blink of an eye. Tears streamed from his eyes as he used the last of his strength to shriek.
"I told you, I’m giving you a life where even dying is a luxury. We’re just getting started. You don’t have the right to a quick death. I’m going to make you experience, piece by piece, what the cruelest fate in this world truly is," Qin Fan said with a fierce laugh, tossing aside the needle that had severed Du Tiancong’s tendons.
"Why?! Why?! Is it all because of Jiang Yinuo?" Du Tiancong rasped, his voice weak and trembling after his frantic screaming. His head hung low. Instinct told him it couldn’t be. Their entire family wouldn’t be subjected to this living death over a girl, especially one he hadn’t even touched. But beyond that, he couldn’t think of any other reason. Young Master Du desperately wanted to know. He had to know!
"Yes," Qin Fan replied flatly. He then reached out and pinched Du Tiancong’s jaw. As he applied the slightest pressure, Du Tiancong let out a choked gasp, his eyes bulging to their absolute limit. In the next moment, he found he could no longer make a sound.
He was mute.
"There, that should do it," Qin Fan said, releasing his grip. "I’ll leave you your eyes, ears, and nose. Go on, enjoy the sights and sounds of this vibrant, bustling world."
Du Tiancong slumped onto the hospital bed. At this moment, he felt no physical pain, only a bottomless, horrifying despair that stared out from his eyes. Qin Fan’s words had been crystal clear: he intended to make his life a living hell, to make death an unattainable dream.
And now, he had succeeded.
A mouth that could not speak. Hands that could not move. Legs that could not walk. All he could do was stare with despairing eyes at the beauty and splendor of a world he could no longer be part of. From this moment on, Du Tiancong’s life was a lightless hell, a living death shrouded in eternal darkness.
"Miss Du, thinking of jumping?" After dropping Du Tiancong, Qin Fan turned his gaze to Du Tianyu, who was crawling across the floor toward the floor-to-ceiling window. He asked with a mocking smile.
"Demon! You’re a demon! A demon!" Hearing his voice, Du Tianyu trembled and screamed as if she had gone mad. Her crawling only quickened, her body wriggling frantically toward the window.
"If I allowed you all a quick and easy death, why would I have bothered coming to Demon City? Alas..." Qin Fan sighed with a smile as he watched her.
With a flick of his wrist, the Hemp Vine Whip shot forward.
SWOOSH!
The whip lashed out and instantly wrapped around Du Tianyu. Without hesitation, Qin Fan scoffed and yanked it back. Entangled in the whip, Du Tianyu rolled back across the floor like a ball.
"You like being passed around, don’t you? Just wait. It’ll be soon, very soon," Qin Fan said chillingly, glancing up at the clock on the wall.
"No! You can’t! You can’t! Let me go, please! I’m begging you, please!" Du Tianyu shrieked, her voice sharp with panic as she clutched her head and cried.
"In this world, there is forgiveness for some. There is mercy I might show to others," Qin Fan said, looking down at the utterly wretched woman, his face devoid of emotion as he enunciated every word. "But you, the Du family, do not have that privilege. I will make you live in Hell—a living Hell worse than any death."
THUMP, THUMP, THUMP!
THUMP, THUMP, THUMP!
At that same moment, a series of hurried footsteps echoed from the corridor outside the ward.
