Chapter 403 - 933: It seems that you still haven’t learned your lesson!
Jiang Yino cried.
The moment Qin Fan finished speaking, she suddenly gripped his hand, their fingers interlocking tightly. Listening to his words, she could no longer control her impulses, unable to contain the overwhelming empathy that flooded her.
What kind of life must that have been?
She didn’t dare to think about it, didn’t dare to let her mind conjure those images. She knew Qin Fan wouldn’t fabricate such a tale just to deceive her, but she had no idea how he had actually survived those years.
Fighting back the tears that blurred her vision, she said, "I’m sorry. I didn’t know that was your story."
"Are you pitying me?" Qin Fan exhaled a nonchalant laugh. He raised their interlocked hands and looked at her. "I don’t need pity, and I don’t need sympathy. I certainly don’t need some misplaced, overbearing maternal affection. Understand?"
With a self-deprecating smile, Qin Fan slowly began to pry her fingers from his. However, just as he was about to break their grip, she tightened hers once more, causing him to freeze in surprise.
"Could you help me wipe away my tears?" she asked, her gaze locked on his.
Caught completely off guard by her request, Qin Fan froze.
"You don’t want to?" Jiang Yino asked again, a faint smile on her tear-streaked face.
Without a word, Qin Fan reached out with his other hand, which trembled slightly. He gently wiped her face, from the corners of her eyes down to her cheeks. He moved with careful attention, with a focused tenderness.
"What happened afterward? What became of the rest of the Qin family?" Jiang Yino asked, feeling the warmth of his fingers as she looked into the unassuming gentleness in his eyes.
The members of the Qin family?
He didn’t answer immediately. After drying the last of the tears from her face, Qin Fan tilted his head back, gazing at the sky at a forty-five-degree angle. A slow, sarcastic smile touched his lips. "On Old Mrs. Qin’s birthday, I brought a coffin to the party to congratulate her. I angered her to death. As for the others, aside from a father and daughter who always stayed out of it, all of them went to prison. They can rot in there. I won’t kill them, but I will make them live in darkness forever. As for Old Man Qin, let him repent alone in that empty family estate."
Qin Fan exhaled a heavy breath, holding nothing back. It was pointless to hide it; once Jiang Yino arrived in Jiangzhou, none of this would be a secret.
"Is this a sad and terrifying story?" he asked with a sudden chuckle, seeing her completely stunned expression.
"Good is rewarded and evil is punished; the Heavenly Dao ensures a just reincarnation!" Jiang Yino said after a moment, shaking her head dazedly. "I’ve always believed in cause and effect. Perhaps what you did was cruel, but considering your past, I can understand. Maybe you were even merciful. The fact that they’re in prison means their own hands weren’t clean. In a way, you were ridding the public of a pest."
The shock in her heart had reached an indescribable level. A student, one who had just graduated from high school, had managed to shatter such a respected and powerful family? Behind the casual way he told his story, behind his claims of lying low, what sort of mysterious power was he hiding?
Jiang Yino found herself growing more and more curious about Qin Fan.
"Thank you," Qin Fan said, a slow smile spreading across his face as he felt the sincerity in her eyes.
Just as he spoke, someone bumped into him hard from behind. Before he could turn, a string of curses erupted.
"Fuck, are you blind, or do you think you own the damn road? Even a good dog knows not to block the path! What the hell are you doing just standing there? You’re lucky you only bumped into me. If you’d bumped into my Big Brother, you son of a bitch, we’d chop you up and still be furious! Right, Big Brother?"
The man, his eyes bleary with drink, swayed as he finished speaking and turned fawningly to the bald man behind him.
"Low-key, low-key, you motherfucker!" the bald man slurred with a drunken laugh, smacking the man on the forehead. "Didn’t I teach you? If you can use your hands, don’t use your mouth. Just shove the guy aside and be done with it."
"Yes, yes, yes, Big Brother is right! Big Brother is brilliant, so brilliant!" the man shouted, rubbing his head.
"Qin Fan, let’s go!" Jiang Yino panicked, realizing they were dealing with drunk gangsters. She tried to pull her hand free from Qin Fan’s, but he held on firmly.
"It’s fine. There’s no rush," he said with a comforting smile, slowly turning around with a smirk on his face.
As Qin Fan turned, the man swayed on his feet, pointed, and yelled, "Shove... shove this damn roadblock out of the way! Th-then we’ll snatch his girl!"
"Looks like you still haven’t learned your lesson," Qin Fan said, his gaze fixed on the gleaming bald head, temporarily ignoring the drunkard.
The moment Qin Fan turned and spoke, a violent shiver wracked the bald man’s entire body. The face he saw was one he considered demonic. In an instant, the haze of alcohol evaporated, replaced by sheer terror.
How is it him? How could it possibly be him?! Fucking hell! I’m in deep shit now. It’s one thing after another! My older brother just forced me to carry thorns to Jin Da University to beg for forgiveness, and now I’ve provoked this demon!
The young bald man wasn’t stupid. He knew why his older brother had dragged him to make a formal apology, even offering peace-making drinks and bowing to those students. It was all because of the demon standing before him. He had been forced to kneel and beg for mercy from Qin Fan’s *classmates*. Now that he’d run into the man himself, he was completely and utterly fucked.
At that moment, his legs trembling uncontrollably, the now-sober young bald man wanted to cry. All he wanted to do was cry.
"Big Brother, what’s wrong? Why are you shaking? Don’t be a coward! Get him!" the man with his back to Qin Fan bellowed, completely oblivious to his boss’s predicament.
His words were met with dead silence. The other thugs with them were the same ones who had been brutally beaten by Qin Fan outside the bar that night. If their boss was afraid of Qin Fan, they were even more terrified.
"Get him? I’ll get your mother! You fucking moron! I’ll fuck your ancestors!" Hearing his subordinate’s shouting, the young bald man trembled again. He swung his shaking hand and landed a heavy slap across the man’s face.
"Big Brother, why’d you hit me?!" the man yelped, clutching his face in confusion as the slap sobered him up slightly.
THUD!
In response, the terrified young bald man lifted his foot and kicked him viciously in the abdomen. As the man cried out and collapsed, the young bald man’s trembling legs finally gave out.
With a heavy thud, he fell to his knees before Qin Fan.
"Big Brother, have mercy!" he cried out, his voice choked with terror.
Right after he collapsed, the other stunned thugs also dropped to their knees.
Bowing their heads, they all cried out, "Big Brother, have mercy!"
