Chapter 74 | A Wave of the Hand
Just as I reached the deck with Damien and 10 more vampires with me, expecting curious and questioning eyes. But the deck’s attention was on something outside.
"Ten more to the team. Boss, had you thought about summoning some undead too? I also want few followers," Thane’s comment brought attention to us.
However, before anyone could shoot off more questions, I decided to move forward, saying, "Questions later; focus on what’s ahead," leaving no room for further discussion.
As I stood next to the railing, monsters, or more like a big patch of red, appeared before my eyes.
"Red Orcs," I muttered. I activated sigils near my eyes just for confirmation.
The red skin, two protruding lower canines with their crude weapons.
"How should we proceed, master?" Damien asked as he stood a step behind me.
I already wanted to test my gauntlets, and there would be no better specimen than these monsters.
"A.B. takes us up, above the clouds," I ordered. He complied, and we started going up again.
"What are you planning, boss?" Thane asked.
"Just wait." The entire deck went silent as everyone was focused on me.
Just as we ascended above the clouds, I extended my right hand outwards and focused on creating a construct of my open hand. Only bigger.
My mana started depleting as the construct of hand started to take form. Its size was bigger than the ship.
When about 10% of my mana was depleted, the construct was a solid blue hand that shimmered at such a height.
Everybody was silent; it was almost like they also forgot breathing.
"A.B., drop us down at maximum speed," I shouted, breaking the silence.
The next moment, we started falling down, but I had to give respect to this ship. If not for standing on deck, I couldn’t even feel I was going down.
As we came out of the clouds, the shade due to such a big construct covered a decent area. I pushed my hand down, letting the construct carry the momentum further.
The construct dove down at a speed difficult to follow with naked eyes.
"You are wicked, boss," Thane remarked.
BOOM!
The sound of a successful attack reached my ears just as I was about to use my eyes to confirm the result.
[You have killed Master-ranked Red Orc.] × 40
[+200 OP]
[You have killed Grandmaster-ranked Red Orc] ×100
[+1200 OP]
[You have killed a Sage-ranked Red Orc.] × 1
[+20 OP]
A flurry of notifications appeared before my eyes, confirming the kills without much delay.
"Haha... I could get used to this," I stated after a small laugh escaped my lips.
"A.B., keep us at jumping distance," I ordered as I turned around.
"Okay, any questions or doubts you have, put in a box for now. Until we complete this mission, which is to clear as many rifts as possible, we will work as a team." I started giving commands.
"So try to get used to each other in this attack. Damien, Regalia, and Donald, you three are our most powerful hitters. Your job is to not let any Saint-Rank monster roam near others."
"Thane, you take your team as usual and fight the Grandmaster rank monster that I can’t handle. You guys have a bit of experience, so use that."
"Azravael, you will take the remaining 9 vampires. This is the most sudden for you guys, so I will tell you the most important thing in team formation. Everyone keep each other’s backs and don’t get in the way."
"Any questions?" I finished giving commands. Nobody spoke.
"Good. Now onto the next thing. The monsters below are Red Orcs, so always aim for a vital spot; otherwise, they are supposed to be quite tenacious. So keep that in mind."
"Now for the most important point, I don’t want to see any of you dying. So no matter what, your priority should be your safety. Everybody, proceed." I ordered.
As our ship neared the land, the scene on the ground became clear. There were multitudes of dead orcs sprawled with few alive ones.
The main thing that brought everyone’s attention was a large handprint in the ground that changed the structure of the battlefield.
"This is a good starter boss; always start with that ’wave of hand’," Thane said as he jumped from the boat. Everyone else followed.
"Nice, mister. Are we not going?" Felicia, sitting upon my shoulder, asked.
"Not this time. Do you want to join too?" I asked.
"No, if you are not going, then Felicia also won’t," she declared.
Everybody disembarked to start attacking. The number of orcs was greatly reduced due to my surprise attack. With the remaining orcs, it was easier to handle with our number.
"A.B., take us to a height so that all monsters in this area are visible." I said as I took a pose of holding the bow.
"Master, I would like to remind you that this ship is not built for combat," A.B. warned.
"I know."
Closing my eyes, I focused on creating a construct in the form of a bow. It took a moment and focus, but within a minute a transparent bow with a tint of blue appeared in my hand.
The whole bow was made of pure mana, but I could feel the tensile strength in the string and the sturdiness of the arch of the bow.
As I pulled the string in a mock shooting, an ethereal arrow materialized in place. My sigil-active eyes searched for the prey on the ground.
A single orc, waving his crude club, was walking towards the group of Azravael. I locked on him and pulled the string back as far as I could.
As the arrow of mana filled itself, becoming indistinguishable from a real one. It left the bow and went towards the target with a speed that was almost invisible.
The next moment, that orc dropped lifeless on the ground with a big hole in his head.
’I still haven’t lost my touch in shooting.’ A smirk appeared on my face as I pulled the string back again.
This hunt will be fun.
