Disembarking from the vehicles one by one, the cohort was greeted by the sight of the base.
The Vanguard Order’s base stood as a massive military complex within Wall Diamond, its imposing structure rising several stories above the surrounding buildings. The exterior was constructed from reinforced steel and dark-grey concrete, with broad sections of glass breaking up the otherwise formidable architecture.
Large Vanguard insignias were embedded into the front of the building, while enormous entrances led into the facility.
Multiple towers extended from different sections of the complex, equipped with communication arrays, observation platforms, and powerful floodlights that illuminated the surrounding grounds.
The expansive courtyard in front of the base remained constantly active.
Military vehicles of various sizes were parked in organized rows, ranging from armored transport trucks and personnel carriers to specialized combat vehicles designed for deployment beyond the walls.
Several futuristic aircraft rested on elevated platforms farther behind the main building.
Soldiers and personnel moved throughout the compound. Some crossed the courtyard in groups, while others entered and exited the various buildings.
Mechanics worked around the parked vehicles, while armed personnel stood at strategic points around the facility.
Despite the constant movement, the entire complex operated with the disciplined efficiency expected from one of the strongest military organizations within Wall Diamond.
"Welcome to the Vanguard Order’s main base of operations," Ella announced as she stood beside the group, who were all staring around in awe.
Their eyes scanned the entire place like little kids on an excursion trip of sorts.
"Come on, let’s go in," she added before beginning to walk forward.
The cohort followed behind her.
Soon, they stood before the glass double doors, which proceeded to open by themselves while the vehicles they had arrived in moved towards the courtyard.
The kids walked into the building, and the transition almost felt like walking into a portal.
Inside, the Vanguard Order’s base was just as massive as its exterior suggested.
Wide metallic corridors stretched throughout the complex, connecting training facilities, command rooms, weapon storage areas, medical units, offices, and barracks.
Bright overhead lights illuminated the polished floors, while digital displays embedded into the walls constantly displayed mission information, personnel data, and alerts.
Large observation windows overlooked several sections of the facility, including expansive training halls where soldiers could be seen sparring and testing their abilities.
The central command area was considerably larger, containing multiple rows of workstations and holographic displays.
Maps, surveillance feeds, and mission data filled the screens as personnel moved between stations.
Despite the enormous size of the facility, there was an unmistakable sense of order throughout it.
Every corridor, room, and section appeared designed around one purpose:
Preparing the Vanguard Order for whatever waited beyond the walls.
With each step they took, Captain Ella took it upon herself to explain which room was where and where each path led.
Most of the Vanguards moving around the place gave the teens brief looks before turning their attention elsewhere.
Ella even showed them a room.
"That leads to the base’s portal room. With our artificial anchor, we are able to connect to all the beast planets humanity has under its grip. This allows us to respond to calls all across the world and get there as fast as possible.
"For some reason, it seems the Abberants are pushing hard against us and trying to conquer more beast planets."
The cohort listened attentively as they moved towards the elevator.
Walking into it was a whole new experience for Ray, Van, Felix, and Chloe as they stared in awe at the glass transport before them.
"What is this for?" Ray couldn’t help but ask with a childish grin on his face as he stared at the array of buttons on the side.
Ella walked towards the array and pressed a button.
"It’s called an elevator, and it travels between floors faster than staircases ever could."
"Wow," Van exclaimed as a ding was heard and the glass sphere began moving upward at a decent speed.
The tech genius rushed towards the glass and peeked outside with stars in his eyes as they moved upwards.
’Seeing all these makes it evident that whoever built these walls, aside from protecting humans, wanted us to have a drive.
Strive harder. Become powerful Meta-humans so as to rise past the walls.’
Ray mused inwardly with his hands folded across his chest.
’... With how poor Wall Rose was, those there would want to move to Wall Steel, which is far better, but only the rich can afford to live there.
Then, with Wall Diamond’s advanced city, those in Wall Steel would also want to live here. Humans are prone to never being satisfied and always wanting an upgrade.’
With an inward sigh, Ray’s eyes darted toward his system.
’That reminds me... why the fuck did that counter for Aberrants defeated increase?’

Ray didn’t know when he went into a choking fit, causing his friends to look at him in worry.
"Ra-Ray? What happened?"
Ray was coughing violently as he stared at the System screens in front of his eyes.
His head spun as if he was about to faint.
’Why the fuck are you suddenly so brutal to me?!’
"I-I’m okay. I choked on my spit."
Ella glanced at him briefly before—
DING!
The elevator rang out, and everybody turned toward the doors as they opened.
"We are here. Let’s go see your Captain."
