Chapter 151: Allegations
"I am going to kill that bastard and slaughter his entire family!! How dare that bastard even touch my fragile son!!"
Ziggy shouted in rage while flying towards Shen’s location, his eyes had turned red.
"Calm down Ziggy, let me handle things first. Once Peg is safe, we can decide over his punishment, your son’s life is at stake here." Mantis spoke, completely calm.
"Ugh... fine, but no matter what, I won’t just forgive him. He better not have hurt my son even a little or I will turn this place upside down!" Ziggy said, his voice full of threats.
The other wardens just watched the show, some were just nonchalant, some were genuinely angry while a few were secretly gloating.
After flying for a few minutes, they arrived at their location. Ziggy was just about to smash the entire house but Mantis stopped him.
"Let me handle this." He said then stepped forward to knock on the door.
KNOCK KNOCK
The group waited for a few seconds, then a meek voice sounded from inside.
"W- Who is it?"
Shen peeked through the peephole, and saw a face he didn’t think would come to find him.
’Why would Sir Mantis come to find me? Is it a trap? Illusion? Or body transformation?’ Shen wondered.
Without opening the door, he launched a powerful mental attack, as dozens of invisible wires shot out.
Mantis was surprised, he didn’t expect Shen to just attack him mindlessly, right after asking a question.
Thankfully, he had a treasure that could defend against mental attacks.
The invisible wires all hit a shield that appeared around Mantis, who still remained composed and spoke calmly:
"I am Mantis, the warden of settlement number 50. Please open the door, there is something we need to ask you."
’We? There are more?’ Shen focused and glanced around and noticed several other figures, but he couldn’t see their faces.
Still he was shocked that this imposter had managed to block his attack.
’Neil saw my attack the last time, there is no way he would fall for something like that again!! I am even more sure it is him, he has come prepared!!’ Shen pulled out his sword, which he rarely ever used.
’No matter what, he is still at the 3rd Origin, there is no way he can handle my attacks. And after I remove his treasure, I will control him with my mental attack.’
A plan quickly formed inside Shen’s mind, he took a step back and calmed himself.
Then a ferocious expression appeared over his face and with a loud roar in his mind, he pounced forward.
BANG
The door was cut apart in a single slash, then the blade swung directly at Warden Mantis’s neck, while Shen’s eyes moved quickly.
He searched for the treasure that provided protection against mental attacks.
Mantis frowned slightly, wondering if this guy had gone mad or was he hiding something and didn’t want others to know.
"STOP!" raising his hand, he pinched the sword, shattering it instantly.
Then Mantis delivered a hard slap over Shen’s face to bring him to his senses, throwing him back.
"You- How dare you slap me?!! Do you even know my background, you imposter bastard?!!" Shen screamed, rising to his trembling feet.
There was a trickle of blood flowing from the corner of his mouth.
’He possessed that powerful mental skill and even such strength? Just who is this guy?’ Shen thought, looking around to find a way to escape.
"SHEN!! It is me, Warden Mantis, open your eyes!" Mantis shouted, while still trying to maintain his composure.
"H- Huh?" Shen finally stopped, then he looked carefully at Mantis and the people standing behind him.
All the lords were looking at him with different expressions, while one particular gaze made him shiver.
There was a pigman who was shaking in rage.
As he finally calmed down and let his senses scan the crowd, Shen trembled in fright.
All these wardens were at the 4th Origin Gold class, any of them could easily kill him who was only at the Silver class.
"S- Sorry sir, I thought it was someone else pretending to be you." He instantly bowed, trembling.
"COUGH Afraid that it was Neil? Sigh you got beat up by a youngster in a fight that you initiated. I got the entire report from Arnold, you have caused too big of a ruckus this time."
Mantis spoke in a stern voice and Shen knew this time he was in deep trouble.
He might even lose his position in the settlement, but just as he was about to start begging, Mantis continued.
"Anyway, we will discuss that later. For now, we are all here for another matter."
"S- Sorry? What matter? Is it about the event you are organizing?" maybe there was still hope, did they recognize his talent or something?
"No, it is related to the son of Warden Ziggy." Mantis spoke, his tone once again calm.
"Huh? What about him?" Shen asked in confusion, his gaze moving between the calm Mantis and the angry Ziggy.
And he had a bad feeling about this, a really bad one.
"Why did you kidnap Peg? And where is he? You didn’t harm him in any way, right?" Mantis finally got to the main topic, asking several questions at once.
But hearing them, Shen’s expression changed completely, his face had so many wrinkles as he literally made the gesture: ’Who? Me?’
"What the- Sir Mantis what are you even talking about? I haven’t even seen that son of a pi- I mean Peg." Shen spoke hurriedly.
"Sigh there is no need to pretend, look right here. It is better for you to come clean and hand over Peg, or I might not hold back his father anymore."
"You fucking bastard, where is my son?!! You better hand him over before I eat you alive!!" Ziggy roared, his cheeks jiggling.
Uwaaah... Shen screamed and jumped back in fright, then spoke repeatedly: "I- I really don’t know anything, this must be a misunderstanding-"
But then, Mantis took out his mobile and showed the scene in which Peg was getting dragged and Shen’s face appeared.
"Huh? That is me." Shen frowned.
"Of course it is you, now hand over Peg." Mantis said, trying to maintain his composure.
"I don’t have him here sir, I didn’t kidnap him. This was not me." he spoke repeatedly.
...
Neil who was sitting far away watched the scene.
"It must have been the wind then." He chuckled and pulled out his elemental bow.
Then using just a tiny amount of energy, he created an air arrow and pointed it at Shen’s house.
WHOOSH
The arrow flew forward quickly, but it failed to maintain its shape for long with such little energy.
And just turned into a strong gust of wind, which only made the clothes of Shen and the wardens flutter for a moment.
"Done, now it is time for the climax." Neil smiled ear to ear, everything had gone exactly as he wanted.
He carefully recorded the whole thing, the roles of the victim and criminal were about to change.
...
WHOOSH
There was a strong gust of wind, though none noticed anything strange about it, but Ziggy’s nose wrinkled.
"Huh? What is that smell?" he frowned and pushed forward forcefully, moving into Shen’s house even as Mantis tried to stop him.
After entering he looked around and soon found a piece of pork on a big plate, most of it had already been eaten.
That scent, that size, it had to be!!
"You motherfucker, was it you who ate this?" carrying the plate with trembling hands, Ziggy walked back to the gate.
And everyone including Mantis who saw the content had horrified looks on their faces.
"Y- Yes I did, that pork was really tasty, if you want you can eat the remaining-" Shen said as he took a step back.
"W- What the fuck?!! You ate his son? Shen, are you out of your mind?"
Even Mantis lost his composure at this moment, he looked at the pork once and cursed again.
"Aaaaaaah you bastard, how could you- how could you kill my son!! You damned beast!!" Ziggy finally went mad, his hands shot forward as he struck Shen.
But Mantis jumped in to stop him.
"Wait, we aren’t s- sure yet that’s him..." Mantis was trying to resolve the situation but then Shen coughed, coughing out a piece of cloth.
Of course Neil was the one who made it happen, he created a tiny slime that did its job only now.
"T- that’s my Peg’s cloth, you bastard you really ate him?" Ziggy fell to his knees as sadness filled his eyes.
"W- What the hell?" Shen was the most shocked one, he felt disgusted as he quickly threw away the piece of cloth.
And now everything began to click in. It wasn’t his mother who sent the pork and it wasn’t a delivery mistake either, so someone planned it.
Someone fed him Peg to get him killed?
Shen felt sick and vomited most of the pork he had eaten, and there was seriously so much.
Ziggy looked at the chewed and wet pieces, crying loudly and rage flooded his mind.
"No wait please listen to me, I didn’t-" Shen tried to explain, but this time Ziggy moved too fast as a punch landed over his face.
BOOOM
His body was blasted back, but right at the last moment, Shen activated his essence to block.
Yet, right at that moment, the snake coiled around his heart exploded and toxins quickly spread all over his body.
BANG
He smashed into the wall and vomited blood, a large amount of it from his eyes, nose and mouth and within moments his breathing paused.
