Chapter 1009: To Fight Death.
The cold, mysterious force was like water trying to put out the fire of his Divine Spark. It caused his lifespan to leak out like water from a broken dam.In his bid to stop the loss of his lifespan, he activated the Intangible Divine Metac. The job of this Divine Metac was to free him from touch and any sort of interaction with his existence.
If anything could stop the river of death from killing him, he believed that this was the best tool for it. Unfortunately, it didn’t work.
As the Intangible Divine Metac took effect, his body became ethereal and untouchable. But for some reason, the black water could still touch him. The river of death could accurately grasp his ethereal figure and the cold, mysterious force of death was still draining him of his lifespan.
To make it work, he combined the size of all of his Supreme Metacs together to enhance the Freedom Supreme Metac. He now had 15 Supreme Metacs with a combined size of 783, so the power of the Freedom Supreme Metac jumped by 9.67 times.
Despite all of this power, the river of death remained unmoved by him. It was as if he was blustering in vain.
The feeling of being thwarted again made him angry, so he said, "Is that so? Are you that powerful? Let’s see how you fare against this."
As he said this, he activated the rank 9 Untouchable Divine Metac of the Domination Pathway.
The Untouchable Divine Metac does the same job as the Intangible Divine Metac but through a different method. It actually creates a barrier around him that is supposed to make external influence unable to interact with him.
Unfortunately, this one failed too. The river of death could still touch the barrier, so the mysterious force could still drain him of his lifespan.
When that didn’t work, he activated the Devouring Ability in anger to see if he could devour the river. This time, his actions backfired.
The mysterious force of death in the black water was able to gain easy and direct access to his Divine Spark through the black force field. So instead of passing through his body like before, the river of death was able to drain him directly from his source.
Earlier, he felt like he was drowning and dying. But when he activated the Devouring Ability, he felt as if he was dead. His entire being froze, including his thoughts.
If not for the fact that his consciousness resided in the spark of power and was largely unaffected by the black water, he would have remained frozen until the river of death drained him to death.
In less than a second of being subjected to this harrowing experience, he withdrew the Devouring Ability. He was like a child withdrawing his hand from touching a flame. He had really been burned.
"So the Danger Sense Metac wasn’t kidding when it said the river of death was dangerous. Why is it dangerous though? Surely, there has to be a level of power that can break free from it."
