Freya and Her Beast Husbands

Chapter 39: Untitled

"What are you doing?" Xavier grumbled as he came to a stop at the living room doorway.

He stared at his brother sitting on the center couch, television blasting with one of those stupid dramas Wilson always watched. A snack packet sat between Wilson’s thighs as he munched on something.

"Oh... Xavier..." Wilson turned his attention to his older brother. "I didn’t know you were coming..."

Xavier frowned. That idiot knew damn well when he was coming back and was trying to act innocent here. Besides, Wilson never watched his shows in this room. He preferred staying in his room like always.

"M-my speakers weren’t working... so I came to watch here instead." Wilson rambled on, clearly knowing that Xavier could see through his words. "If you want me to switch it off... I can. I can continue watching it tomorrow once the speakers come."

Freya poked her head from behind Xavier and glanced around the room curiously. Her eyes finally landed on the hologram style television, gleaming in excitement at the sight of it. She edged closer to the doorway until Xavier could practically feel her body heat coming off of her.

"It’s fine..." Xavier sighed, running a hand through his hair. "Just don’t stay up too late and clean up when you’re done."

"What are you watching?" Freya asked, moving around him.

He watched as Freya walked over to Wilson, who was currently rambling on about the show he was watching. Freya seemed interested in it and landed up joining Wilson on the couch to watch.

"I’m going to make some tea." Xavier finally said out loud, finally catching their attention. "Does anyone want anything?"

Because he wasn’t sure if he could stand by the doorway for a second longer. His palms were itching for a smoke, feeling uneasy for some reason.

"Can I have some coffee please?" Freya requested.

Xavier nodded his head in understanding and turned his gaze to his brother. Wilson then said, "Nothing for me. I’m sorted."

With that, Xavier left the room. His hands moved to his inner coat pocket, reaching for his pack of smokes as he walked to the kitchen. He was desperate to smoke away this strange feeling inside him.

After putting the kettle to boil, Xavier switched on the extractor fan above the stove and smoked under it to get rid of the smoke easily. It was best not to have the smell lingering around.

Perhaps it’s because I haven’t had a smoke in a while... Xavier mused to himself as he lit the cigarette and took a drag. General Markson would probably kill me if I smoked at Aunt Elisa’s place.

He closed his eyes for a moment, enjoying the sense of ease smoking gave him. He then took another drag, finishing his cigarette by the time the kettle had boiled.

Once he tossed the bud into the trash, Xavier prepared some tea for himself and coffee for Freya. He already made note of the way she prepared hers this morning, so added sugar and milk the same way she did.

He then placed the drinks on a tray and headed back to the living room.

Wilson watched his brother disappear, wondering if he had done a little too much. His speaker had broken, but truthfully that wasn’t the real reason he was here.

It was just his excuse because he could watch his shows anytime.

If he was being honest with himself he was trying to make excuses to see Freya. He found her pretty and she was easy to talk to, even letting him ramble on at times. Something very few people did.

Aunt Elisa was probably the only other beastwoman who would deal with him. Granted he hadn’t met many others because of his hermit attitude. And his relationship with Aunt Elisa was a little strained at this point.

Probably because he sometimes saw his mother in her. Or rather what he wished his mother would be.

His hand moved to what was left of his right shoulder, rubbing it out of habit. Freya noticed what he was going and asked, "Does it hurt?"

"No... I rarely feel any pain here." Wilson answered, dropping his hand. "Rubbing it is just a bad habit..."

Freya nodded her head in understanding, turning her attention back to the show. Wilson watched her, wondering what he was going to do. Right now, he was curious about her, wanting to see her true personality.

However, Xavier had given him the go ahead to try for more. But Wilson was a little scared for that. Things were going too fast and he was worried about what Freya would say.

If he could even handle a no right now.

Honestly, even just getting to know Freya was scaring him. Especially when he learnt they had something in common. Because interests brought people together.

Xavier soon came back to the living room before Wilson could spiral into his own thoughts. He watched as the older snake beastman handed a mug to Freya before moving to sit beside her.

His coat was off and shirt sleeves were rolled up. Wilson could guess that Xavier had gone for a smoke while making the drinks. He always smoked after meeting with Aunt Elisa.

Though Wilson wasn’t sure whether it was out of habit or stress.

"It had a spoon of sugar and some milk." Xavier said, leaning an arm behind Freya.

"Oh perfect, thanks!" Freya smiled at the older snake beastman.

The sight was so mundane that Wilson had to blink twice to believe his eyes. When was the last time his brother had acted so... ordinary. He couldn’t remember.

Xavier was also tensed up, ready for any disaster that sprung on them. He was cold, almost seeming heartless on the surface, even if he deeply cared for Wilson and Ethan. But now...

He looked like any other beastman in love. It was so strange.

Xavier must’ve noticed his gaze on him because he gazed back sharply at Wilson. The younger snake beastman shifted his eyes away first, deciding not to get into a staring contest with him.

Instead he turned his attention back to the television. Not that he could concentrate much.

Freya let out a yawn, eyes beginning to feel heavy. She had been watching some show with Xavier and Wilson for some time now. Though by the looks of it, only Wilson and her were watching anything.

Xavier had long gone to sleep, head falling onto her shoulder. His head soon left her shoulder stiff, but she didn’t dare move when he looked so peaceful.

It was like the years had disappeared the moment he drifted off and he looked like any other twenty-six year old. Which Freya was still shocked by. He looked like he was twenty-nine rather than twenty-six.

"Are you getting tired?" Wilson asked, noticing her yawn again. "We can continue this some other time."

"Yeah... Probably should head in for the night." Freya mused. She then groaned, "I still need to shower and everything..."

"Y-yeah..." Wilson murmured, turning the television off.

Meanwhile, Freya turned her attention to the sleeping Xavier. She let her intrusive thoughts get the better of her and ran a hand through Xavier’s silky soft hair. She wanted to cry at how soft his hair was considering he only used shampoo.

"Time to get up." Freya called out to the sleeping snake.

Xavier let out a grumble, head moving into the nook of her neck. Which had them almost tumbling into Wilson. The younger beastman freaked out for a second before realizing it was his brother’s doing.

"Xavier!" Freya hissed out, wondering if perhaps she should’ve woken him earlier and sent him to bed.

Because now things were not looking great. Freya wasn’t even sure if they could get him upstairs to his office to sleep if they couldn’t wake him.

"Just leave him there." Wilson said, noticing her worry. "He’s not going to get up if he’s sleeping deeply."

Freya pursed her lips, but in the end didn’t argue. She maneuvered around Xavier’s sleeping form, dropping him into the couch. Wilson placed a pillow under his head as well as a blanket.

The two then picked up the mugs and trash, heading to the kitchen. Wilson told her to leave the mugs in the sink for the androids and he didn’t argue. She was way too tired for that.

Once she got to her room, she grabbed some clean underwear and a pair of pajama shorts and shirt before heading to the bathroom. She quickly took her makeup off before hopping into the shower.

She showered the day off of her, the warm water hitting her sore muscles and making it harder to stay awake. Freya soon got out and went through her night routine as fast as possible.

She then put her dirty clothes in the laundry basket before heading back out of the bathroom. Once she got to the bed, she flopped onto it and crashed for the night.
