Chapter 184: The Features and the World’s Reaction
Kai was also curious and checked his notifications...
"Positions, huh... The system didn’t mention ranks yet. But I can probably assign roles once I get a member. For now, it’s just me as Leader."
Mei nodded and stepped forward. "I... I want to join too. Let me be the first member!"
Claire wryly smiled at this. She didn’t really care who got invited first, so she just let her be.
"I’m next then..."
She then paused as she recalled the chat...
"I wonder what’s going on in the World Chat right now. I’m sure they’re surprised. They probably didn’t even consider that there’s a Guild Feature in this Apocalypse."
The moment she noticed that there was an announcement, she immediately closed the World Chat and checked Kai in the warehouse after all.
Kai chuckled. "That notification definitely attracted everyone’s attention..."
Mei nodded as she felt that this was also a good thing. She just knew that it be advantageous to be part of a well-known guild.
Claire also added. "They’ll probably want to be part of the first guild. Right, what about the rewards? I’m sure you got some awesome things..."
Kai shrugged and explained the rewards he got.
"Yes... It includes Talent Upgrade Crystal and Free Mission Pass."
Mei’s eyes lit up..."That’s insane. You can upgrade your Talent again? T-that’s OP! Maybe your Weapons Gift Pack can give us a Laser Gun now or something."
"That’s awesome... But what’s the pass?" Claire asked.
"It just means we can skip one Guild Mission instantly. That could save us in a crisis. For now, there’s only Low-Grade Missions. If we have a High-Grade one, I’ll use the pass then." Kai explained.
Then, Kai finally sent the invitation.
[ Invitation Sent: Mei ]
[ Invitation Sent: Claire ]
System notifications chimed.
[ Mei has joined Codebreakers Guild. ]
[ Claire has joined Codebreakers Guild. ]
Just as the invitations were confirmed, another set of notifications appeared before Kai’s eyes.
[ Congratulations! You have new Guild Members! ]
[ Guild Leader Notice ]
[ As Guild Leader, you may assign up to 3 Vice Leaders and 10 Elders. ]
[ Vice Leaders may: freely deposit and withdraw from Guild Storage, invite new members, manage Guild Reputation, edit Guild Motto, remove Guild Members, and assign or demote Elders. ]
[ Elders may: freely deposit and withdraw from Guild Storage, invite new members, manage Guild Reputation, and lead Guild Missions. ]
Kai rubbed his chin. "So Vice Leaders really are second‑in‑command... they even have the authority to kick members out. Elders are more like mission captains."
Of course, for ordinary members, being able to access some Guild Features like Chat, Missions, and even the Guild Buff was already incredible.
Claire heard this, and it seemed reasonable... "Sounds perfect for me. I’d be great at kicking people out if they’re not great... Will you make me a Vice Leader?"
Mei laughed nervously. "That’s... not something to be proud of. Anyway, I’m not good at managing people... But I don’t think that you’ll have many options for the Vice Leader position. You need people you can trust."
Kai smirked. "Don’t worry. I know I can trust the two of you. You can both hold the position. For now, let’s just focus on building the Guild."
Mei tilted her head curiously. "By the way... the motto. Did you write it yourself, or was it random?"
Kai chuckled. "I wrote it. Human Will Triumph Over Machine. It felt right."
Claire raised an eyebrow. "Hmmm... It sounds kinda serious and dramatic... but it makes sense."
Mei giggled. "I thought it was the system’s default. But if you wrote it... well, it does sound like you."
Kai shrugged. "It’s simple and direct actually... We’re fighting machines, so the motto should remind everyone what we stand for."
Claire pointed at the banner design on the interface. "And the banner? A gear with a spear? Even some red highlights... You really went for the edgy look, huh. I like it..."
"Edgy?" Kai was stunned as he also started questioning his decision.
However, to his eyes, it didn’t really look that bad.
Mei covered her mouth, laughing. "It’s not bad... She’s just teasing you..."
Kai rolled his eyes but smiled faintly. "Hey, it’s symbolic. The gear represents the machines, and the spear represents us piercing through them. Crimson is for blood or our sacrifice... It’s not about fashion."
Claire grinned. "Sure, sure. Keep telling yourself that. But don’t blame me if people think we’re some hardcore cult instead of a Guild."
Mei shook her head, still smiling. "No... I think it’s fine. It feels powerful. Survivors will take it seriously."
Just like that, the three laughed together, making the people outside curious about their conversation.
But as expected, the World Chat was already going crazy as soon as they realized that a Guild could actually be created!
Now, they have something to look forward to!
Many of them were already thinking of getting stronger with their fellow Survivors within their shelters to build their own Guild, while some others just wanted to focus on themselves and grow stronger to be invited by the best Guilds that would surely appear in the near future...
[ Renji: Wait... did anyone else see that? A Guild? Someone actually created one already?! ]
[ Connie: Yeah, it popped up in the announcements. First Guild... Codebreakers... Cool name. I’m going to name mine with Hunters... So they will call us the Hunters Guild. ]
[ Tomas: Codebreakers Guild... Leader: Kai. So that’s the guy. Damn, he beat everyone to it. ]
[ Eliza: What does a Guild even do? Is it just a fancy team name, or are there real features? ]
[ Renji: Who knows. Maybe they can occupy a land or something? It won’t be surprising at this point. ]
[ Connie: I guess the strongest Guild will dominate resources. ]
[ Tomas: I bet more Guilds will pop up soon. No one wants to be left behind now. ]
[ Sharmaine: The world just changed again. Guilds are going to reshape everything. Still, my shelter is busy prepping for the Surveillance Sweep. Let’s focus on that Event first. We’re going underground, baby! ]
