Chapter 183: The Guild
Kai remembered to check his Survivor Medals...
Seeing that he still had 21 of them, he turned back his attention to the glowing prompt.
[ Do you want to join or create a Guild? ]
He already knew the answer.
With the upcoming Global Event, he knew that they needed a more organized structure and perhaps, even a method to grow stronger before this Surveillance Sweep started.
Kai tapped [ Create ].
Another window appeared.
[ 10 Survivor Medals have been deducted from your Inventory. ]
[ Guild Creation Form ]
[ Please enter Guild Name. ]
[ Please select Guild Banner. ]
[ Please confirm Guild Motto. ]
"Wow... Just like those games in the past..."
Kai exhaled slowly as he considered what to name.
"Guild name... huh." He muttered to himself, staring at the empty text box.
To be honest, he already thought of a few names ever since he learned about the Guild System. Names like Hidden Leaf, Phyrexia, Primarchs, Blank, Adventurers, and a few others had come into his mind. However, he was still undecided.
He knew the Guild Name would carry their legacy. It couldn’t be chosen carelessly, and he refused to half‑ass it.
Though he liked the sound of the Adventurers Guild as it would probably attract many Survivors, he still felt that it was not appropriate.
For now, he thought about their enemy... the A.I. Army. Machines scanning the skies, swarming the ground, hunting survivors like prey.
"We’re fighting against rebels made of steel. The name should reflect some kind of defiance against these machines... Hmm."
His mind drifted to Mei.
At night, when she visited him, she often confided her fears.
Well, she wasn’t a soldier or a fighter. She was just an office worker before the apocalypse. She admitted more than once that she wanted to go home, back to a life that no longer existed.
But there was nothing he could do but to comfort her.
’That’s obvious...’
Kai sighed as he was well aware that many Survivors really wanted to return to Earth and return to their normal lives without the threat of human-hunting machines.
Kai clenched his fist.
He recalled Mei’s voice... It was trembling yet honest, which stayed with him.
She was afraid, but she still stood beside him. The Guild name couldn’t just be a symbol of defiance against machines... it had to be a promise.
Kai clenched his fist as he made up his mind.
"This should be it..."
He typed slowly...
"Codebreakers"
It told the world exactly what they stood for... a Guild dedicated to dismantling the A.I. rebels, tearing apart their systems, and reclaiming the future.
It was both a declaration of war and a promise of return... to Earth.
Ding!
Just like that, the name was accepted.
Next, the banner selection appeared.
It looked like an online game interface, dozens of preset designs scrolling past his eyes.
Shields, swords, flames, animals. He paused at one design... a black banner with a silver gear emblem, crossed by a single spear.
The gear symbolized the enemy... the machines. The spear symbolized their will to fight back as it was piercing through their mechanical dominance.
He adjusted the color scheme and made a black background with a silver emblem and crimson highlights.
"Yeah... this works," Kai muttered.
Finally, the motto field appeared.
He didn’t think too much of it. It was probably for recruitment purposes...
Without hesitation, he typed... Human Will Triumph Over Machine.
He confirmed the creation.
System notifications flooded his vision.
[ Guild Created Successfully! ]

Kai nodded. "Five percent? Good. That’s exactly what we need."
But the notifications didn’t stop.
[ Announcement: The first Guild has been created! ]
[ Guild: Codebreakers Guild ]
[ Leader: Kai ]
[ This announcement has been broadcasted to World Chat. ]
Kai was stunned as he saw this notification.
"World Chat... so everyone knows now."
He imagined survivors across the continent seeing the message. Some would probably be curious, but he knew that some would be envious.
Then another notification appeared!
[ Congratulations! You are the First Guild Leader! ]
[ Special Rewards Granted: Talent Upgrade Crystal, Free Mission Pass ]
Kai’s eyes lit up... "Talent Upgrade Crystal again? I’m so lucky... and a Free Mission Pass?"
He already knew about the Talent Upgrade Crystal, and he was already excited to use it. However, the Free Mission Pass confused him.
[ Free Mission Pass: This pass can be used to instantly complete one Guild Mission without performing the requirements. ]
Kai smirked. "That’s... powerful."
He closed the window and leaned back against the warehouse wall. "So this is what it means to be the first Guild. The system rewards are quite generous..."
Kai couldn’t help but smile as he checked his Guild Window...
Soon, his attention turned to the Guild Mission Tab.
"Alright... Let’s see what kind of mission we have here..."
[ Guild Missions Available ]
He tapped it, and three prompts appeared in front of him.
[ Mission 1: Supply Run ]
Difficulty: Low
Objective: Submit 100 units of food to the Guild Storage within 48 hours.
Reward: Guild Reputation +50, Energy Core (C-Grade) x5 ]
"Oh? I can get cores here? This is nice...’ Kai mused as he turned to the next stall.
[ Mission 2: Patrol Sweep ]
[ Difficulty: Low
Objective: Eliminate 10 roaming drones within the designated area.
Reward: Guild Reputation +75, Passive Buff +3% stamina recovery to all Clan Members for 24 hours. ]
[ Mission 3: Survivor Integration ]
[ Difficulty: Low
Objective: Recruit 15 survivors into the Guild.
Reward: Guild Reputation +10, Energy Core (C-Grade) x2 ]
Kai studied the list carefully. "So this is how Guild Missions work..."
Just as Kai was speculating about the Guild Mission, the warehouse door creaked open. Claire and Mei stepped inside... At this time, their expressions showed that they’d seen the World Chat announcement.
Claire then spoke first... "So, when are you going to invite me?"
"Ah... You saw the announcement?" Kai asked.
"Of course," Meil replied. "Everyone did. The whole continent knows you’re the first Guild Leader now. Don’t think you can keep me out. Is there a position within the Guild? I want one."
