Chapter 1805 - 1807: Sorry, Can’t Do It
"Heir Tong!" Ye Zi’an bent down and clasped his fists. This Heir Tong was the eldest legitimate son of State Duke Tong and was appointed as heir long ago. He was drinking tea at the moment.
Upon seeing Ye Zi’an approach, he merely raised his eyelids lazily.
Seeing this, Ye Zi’an frowned slightly, thinking to himself, perhaps this Heir Tong is just like his mother? Does he not recognize where he is?
Ye Zi’an, seeing that he remained silent, straightened up and sat down on a chair nearby. Soon, the maids brought another cup of tea.
"I wonder what brings Heir Tong here today?" Once the maid served the tea, Ye Zi’an asked.
Finally, Heir Tong spoke, an air of confrontation filled the scene, "Ye Zi’an, do you truly not know why I, Heir Tong, have come?"
Even his cup was slammed heavily on the table.
"Am I supposed to know something?" Ye Zi’an chuckled lightly.
"Fine, very well." Heir Tong, resembling a firecracker, suddenly stood up, "Ye Zi’an, you sure are good at pretending."
Heir Tong paced back and forth several times before suddenly saying, "Ye Zi’an, I want you to go to the governmental office and tell them to release my mother, Heir Tong’s mother, and that she didn’t attempt to murder Prince An. That’s just your nonsense. You people are unhappy because she went to the palace to accuse you, so you are making these claims."
Ye Zi’an was inwardly amused, looking at Heir Tong as if viewing a foolish person.
"Are you joking, Heir Tong?" Ye Zi’an also put down his cup, gazing coldly at the other, "Does Heir Tong think the Governmental Office of Capital City is run by the Ye Family? That I can just say a word and everyone will obey me? Moreover, yesterday your mother committed violence at the front of Prince An’s Mansion, nearly everyone on that street witnessed it. You want me to say our Prince An’s Mansion is spouting nonsense? Do you think everyone is blind or their minds are muddled?"
"How you speak to the people at the office is your business, I don’t care," Heir Tong waved his hand, "I only care about when my mother can return. You’d best resolve this quickly, or I won’t let you off easily."
Like mother, like son; Ye Zi’an thoroughly understood the meaning behind this saying.
He suddenly felt particularly sympathetic towards State Duke Tong, saddled with such a troublesome family.
"Sorry, can’t do it." Ye Zi’an stood up and said, "That is Heir Tong’s mother, not mine. Even if she never gets out, it’s none of my concern, and I won’t go to the office to speak for someone who harmed my son. You think I’d personally get her out of jail? Heir Tong, your joke is a bit much, I won’t play along."
Ye Zi’an paused and added, "If Heir Tong has no other business, please leave."
"Ye Zi’an, you truly won’t go?" Seeing his refusal, Heir Tong’s expression turned sour.
He thought Ye Zi’an was too ungrateful; a mere commoner refused to help the noble heir? After all, in Heir Tong’s mind, despite the Ye Family living in Prince An’s Mansion, their status could never compare to the Tong Family’s century-old noble status.
Lacking heritage, lacking connections, lacking wealth, from any perspective Ye Zi’an should be giving him some face.
"Of course not going!" Ye Zi’an still refused, "Moreover, I don’t think Heir Tong really wants to save your mother, otherwise, you would have gone to the office yourself, why come to Prince An’s Mansion?"
