Chapter 1531 - 1533: Do You Have to Be So Hypocritical_1
"Haha," laughed Ye Zi’an, "this is definitely a novel experience."
Both of them sat on the outside of the carriage, facing the wind, and Ye Zi’an slowed the horse down a bit.
"Cold?"
As they were about to enter the city, Ye Zi’an asked.
"Not cold, what about you?"
"With my lady here, I’m not cold either," he said and then chuckled with a he-he.
His laugh was silly and goofy, but it made Yang Chuxia stare at him, mesmerized.
"My lady, I’m driving the carriage right now. If you keep looking at me like that, I might not be able to resist, and that would be dangerous for us."
"Haha," Yang Chuxia laughed and pinched his face before turning to sit properly.
There was also a hint of amusement in Ye Zi’an’s eyes.
By the time they entered the city, it was already afternoon. Neither of them had eaten lunch, yet neither felt hungry. According to Ye Zi’an, being with his beloved wife made him forget about hunger.
The pair, both possessing exceptional looks, naturally attracted attention while driving through the bustling streets. Moreover, with the third day of the new year being a common time for people to visit each other, it was difficult for the newly-promoted Lord Prince An and his wife not to be noticed. Along the road into the inner city, they inevitably encountered people greeting them, or stopping to exchange a few words.
"It’s a good thing that the prince is Lele’s role," sighed Yang Chuxia. "When Lele grows up, he can take care of these social interactions. We are just the prince’s parents and don’t have to mingle with these people for life, otherwise, it would be so annoying."
"Haha, and I thought you’d regret not becoming the Princess Consort," he joked.
"What’s there to regret? It’s her mother-in-law who is really impressive," Yang Chuxia waved her hand dismissively. "No matter how impressive a Princess Consort is outside, she still has to act obedient in front of me."
"You really are..." Ye Zi’an didn’t know whether to laugh or cry.
After they had greeted the Minister of Ministry of Rites, Ye Zi’an guided the carriage down a small path, and finally, after several turns, they stopped in front of the Luo Residence.
After knocking on the door, the gatekeeper quickly opened the large gate upon recognizing them, letting them in.
Inside the courtyard, Yangyang was practicing boxing with Old Mu, and even Lele was mimicking the movements by his side. Yang Chuxia found it odd as Lele had always disliked such rough and violent activities. Why was he suddenly taking an interest now?
Yangyang, upon seeing his parents return, lit up but continued to complete the set of boxing moves before coming over.
"Wow, son, you performed that boxing set really well." As soon as he finished, Yang Chuxia eagerly applauded.
Yangyang rolled his eyes, "Mother, do you have to be so insincere? I’ve just started learning this set, and it’s my first time executing it. Some of the movements are still unfamiliar to me, and I even made a mistake in one part. How can that be considered good?"
"Uh..." Yang Chuxia was at a loss for words.
"You’d be better off not saying anything," Yangyang said before hopping over to the carriage, his eyes wide as he saw Ye Zi’an unloading game from it.
"Lele, why have you taken an interest in learning martial arts?" Yang Chuxia, seeing that Lele seemed still focused on the movements he just observed, asked him.
"Mother, I’ve realized that sometimes martial arts can be quite useful," Lele responded earnestly. "Our family doesn’t have any hidden guards, and we can’t expect someone to protect me all the time. Since that’s the case, I’d rather learn myself, protect myself. It’s safer that way."
Ever since the conversation on the carriage that day with his brother, he had been contemplating these ideas, which were solidified yesterday upon learning of his father’s illness. He decided he must implement these thoughts immediately.
If anything were truly to happen to his father... he’d need to become strong to protect his brothers and sisters.
