Chapter 601 - 420: White Mist? Poisonous Mist?
"I thought it was just dust from the explosion, so I was going to fly down for a look. I never expected that any part of me the white mist touched would become incredibly painful. I knew something was wrong and flew up immediately, but my toes still got brushed by it."
"Your toes?"
"Yes."
The Eagle Beastman nodded in lingering fear and looked down at his injury.
But the area that had been so painful now showed no trace of injury.
"We’ve already treated your injury, but the poison had corroded your entire lower leg. It wasn’t just your toes like you said."
the Healing Witch said, looking at the Eagle Beastman’s feet.
"That’s a vicious poison. It’s no wonder it spread. Many powerful poisons do, just not this fast."
The Poison Witch held a Magic Ball, enveloped in witch power. Inside it, a blackish-purple substance swirled, its form indistinct.
"This is the poison from your lower leg."
As they spoke, the sound of several pairs of wings beating the air drew near. It was the Eagle Beastmen who had been knocked unconscious earlier, now returned.
"Lord Witch."
The Healing Witch looked at them. "Is the white poison mist still spreading?"
’White poison mist?’
The beastmen exchanged confused glances for a moment before they realized the Lord Witch must be referring to the dust cloud from the earlier energy fluctuation.
"It’s not spreading anymore. We waited for quite a while. It expanded to a certain point and then just stopped, but it hasn’t dissipated either."
’Not spreading, but not disappearing either...’
The Healing Witch pondered for a moment. "Keep watching it. Report back immediately if anything changes. Do not go near that white mist—it’s poisonous."
The Eagle Beastmen’s faces paled at his words. They hastily agreed and flew off.
Meanwhile, Wu Yue and her two little beasts were completely unaware of the consequences of the grenade they had detonated.
Half a day passed before the human and two beasts slowly began to stir.
Wu Yue felt like every inch of her body ached, as if someone had stuffed her in a sack and beaten her.
She staggered to her feet and shook her head. Her vision was blurry for a long moment before the scene around her finally came into focus.
The surrounding deep forest was gone. In its place was a vast expanse of white, making it impossible to get her bearings.
Tayun and the System were curled into balls beside her, their bellies rising and falling with each breath.
A transparent energy shield surrounded them. She had instinctively redeemed it the moment she saw the System’s pathetic short-range throw.
And it turned out she was right. If it weren’t for this energy shield, the three of them would have sprouted wings and gone to meet the Beast God by now.
The thought made her hands itch. She shot a sinister glare at the nearby System, grabbed the scruff of its neck, and proceeded to give its fat butt a sound thrashing.
’How did this little punk manage to throw it a measly ten meters with such a self-righteous look on its face?’
’Was it trying to get us all killed?’
The crisp sound of slapping echoed, startling Tayun awake.
It stretched out a tiny paw to rub its eyes, only to see its master holding the Blue Fatty and spanking it.
A sudden chill ran down its own little bottom, and it quickly shuffled over, trying to hide its rear.
The pain in its rear finally jolted the System awake. It first let out a soul-piercing "AWOO!", then turned its tear-filled eyes toward its host.
’I know I screwed up, but this is my first time being a beast! And my first time throwing a grenade with a beast’s body! I thought I could throw it at least a hundred meters, easy! Who knew these short legs would be so useless?’
"Sob, sob, sob~ Dearest Host, it’s all my fault! I overestimated my own abilities! I was wrong, WAAAHHH!"
With that, it started wailing at the top of its lungs.
Since only Wu Yue could hear its voice, the sound of its wailing made her head buzz.
A vein throbbed on her temple. "Shut the hell up! You’re so damn loud."
Ignoring the whimpering beast, Wu Yue stood up and looked around, but her view was still nothing but a vast expanse of white. She couldn’t see a thing.
She kicked the sobbing Blue Fatty. "Stop putting on a show. Figure out how we get out of here. I can’t see a thing in any direction."
The System immediately stopped its fake crying. Tayun blinked, staring at the little creature’s furry face.
’Heh... Not a single tear. The little faker was all thunder and no rain.’
With a soft "awoo," it trotted over to its master and rubbed against her leg.
Its big, watery eyes looked up at its master... then shifted to the satchel at her waist.
Wu Yue got the hint, pulling out a Crystal Core and popping it into his mouth.
The energy from the Crystal Core mended Tayun’s body. A moment later, he transformed back into his powerful battle form.
