Chapter 234: Catching Up
Tristan Grayson looked away, a scornful smile touching his lips. He figured he must have been too tired lately to be having such delusions.
’How could the woman I’ve been searching for for seven months just appear out of nowhere?’
Mika Summers held her phone, calling Archie Summers over and over, but no one was picking up.
He always picked up on the first ring whenever she called. What was going on today? ’Could something really have happened to him?’
Thinking of Eleanor Bishop’s worried expression made her even more anxious. She hadn’t seen her brother much lately. He had only called her last night, telling her to come wait at the airport with Eleanor and their parents...
"Mika, any luck? Have you seen your brother?" Eleanor Bishop rushed out as well, clutching her child as she navigated the floor in her high heels.
Mika Summers heard her and turned, shaking her head slightly. "No..."
"What are we going to do? Something must have happened to him." Tears streamed down Eleanor Bishop’s face in her panic.
"Eleanor, don’t panic. I’ll try calling again. Maybe he’ll show up any minute."
Eleanor Bishop nodded. "Okay, yes. Please hurry, Mika..." ’It was perfectly normal for Archie to not answer her calls,’ she thought. ’He often hung up on her or just ignored them. But he would never, ever ignore a call from Mika. Not unless something was truly wrong.’
’I should have known. Trying to sneak back to Austerra without the Lockwood Family finding out was never going to work. Just as I thought.’
’After seven months in hiding, we were bound to be forced back by the Lockwood Family sooner or later.’
Just then, as Mika Summers was anxiously making calls on her phone and Eleanor Bishop was frantically looking around, neither of them noticed two men in black suits walking toward them.
Suddenly, someone slammed hard into Eleanor Bishop’s shoulder. Before she could even cry out in pain, the child was violently snatched from her arms.
A baby’s wail, "WAAAH—," was immediately followed by Eleanor Bishop’s own cry of anguish. "My child! Give me back my child! Stop! Stop right there!"
In horror, Mika Summers spun around to see that Eleanor Bishop had already kicked off her high heels and was desperately chasing after the two men.
It took her a moment to react. Forgetting everything else, she started running after the men, pointing ahead and shouting, "Help! Somebody, help! They’re kidnapping a child! Somebody stop them!"
...
Tristan Grayson had already passed through the boarding gate, but upon hearing the woman’s shouts from behind, he stopped in his tracks, his expression suddenly turning dark.
He spun around and strode quickly back out of the boarding gate, breaking into a run to follow them...
Eleanor Bishop chased them all the way out of the airport but couldn’t catch up. She could only watch helplessly as her child was hustled into a black sedan, and she collapsed onto the pavement.
When Mika Summers caught up, she saw Eleanor Bishop sitting on the ground, crying. Forcing a calm tone, she said, "Eleanor, don’t panic. We’ll call the police. Right now!" Just as Mika was about to dial, a sports car screeched to a halt in front of them.
A handsome man took off his sunglasses, raised an eyebrow at Mika Summers, gave a low whistle, and grinned. "Get in! I’ll help you catch that car!"
The moment Eleanor Bishop heard the man, she didn’t care if she knew him or not. She scrambled up from the ground, ran to the passenger door, opened it, and jumped in.
Seeing that Eleanor was already in the car, Mika had no choice but to follow.
It was only after the sports car had sped away that Tristan Grayson emerged, a complicated look on his face as he held his phone...
