Chapter 230: Taking Over
"Alright, let her go. Let her go. Mika, don’t be upset. We’ll do whatever you want, okay?" Archie said hurriedly, concerned by her agitation.
Mika’s emotions gradually subsided, but her stomach was still churning violently. She pushed herself up, half-hanging over the side of the bed as she began to vomit.
Archie rushed over and gently patted Mika’s back, his cold eyes glaring at the stunned woman still in the room. "Get out!"
Startled, Maggie Monroe snapped back to her senses and scurried out of the room.
Mika retched for a while before she finally stopped. By then, Louise Jordan was already there, holding out a glass of water and some tissues.
"Thank you..." she said, nodding feebly.
"Louise, go make the arrangements. We’re transferring to another hospital tomorrow."
"Yes, Boss."
Mika rinsed her mouth and wiped her lips before lying back down on the bed. She looked at Archie’s grim expression, her brow furrowing as she said apologetically, "I’m sorry, Bro. I’ve disappointed you again."
"Silly girl. As long as you’re happy, nothing else matters. Don’t overthink it. Just get some rest."
"Mm..." Mika nodded and closed her eyes. She placed her hands on her stomach, her fingers clenching tightly...
「In another hospital room.」
Aiden Avery glanced at the man sitting up in bed staring into space, then at Tiana, who had her head down, focused on her phone. His expression was dangerously dark.
"Tiana, could you step out for a moment? I need to talk to your brother."
"Oh..."
After watching Tiana leave and close the door, Aiden took off his jacket and threw it angrily to the floor. He rolled his wrists and sneered, "Tristan Grayson, if you weren’t injured right now, I’d kick your ass."
Tristan paid Aiden’s words no mind. Instead, he looked up and said flatly, "Aiden, I want to see her."
Aiden sneered. "Tristan, I’d advise you to just give up on that. It’s over between you and her."
"Why are you saying that too?! Aiden, she’s my woman! She’s carrying my child! How can it be over?!"
"Tristan, do you know why Archie won’t let you see her? Why he’s posted so many people to guard her room?"
"Why?" Tristan’s chest tightened, and he asked with a growing sense of unease.
The anger on Aiden’s face was gone, his voice now laced with helplessness and regret. "Because Mika is addicted to drugs. Archie is doing everything he can to help her detox right now. For the next few days, it’s best if no outsiders provoke her any further. Sigh... to be honest, it’s not all your fault. I can’t escape my share of the blame either." ’If only I’d stopped Amelia from going after Gia Miller back then, maybe things wouldn’t have turned out this way.’
Tristan felt his heart clench painfully. "What?! Addicted to drugs? Aiden, what the hell is going on! Why didn’t any of you tell me!"
"What good would telling you have done? You’d only go over there and make things worse. Besides, Archie sees you as his enemy now. Do you really think you have a future with Mika anymore? Tristan, if you genuinely want what’s best for her and for your child, then let her go. Never bother her again." After he finished speaking, Aiden bent down, picked his jacket off the floor, and turned to leave.
He had only taken two steps when he stopped again. His voice was low as it slowly filled the room. "Tristan, I told you before: if you can’t take care of her, I’d be more than happy to take your wife and child off your hands. Starting today, I’m going to give everything I have to pursuing Mika..." ’If Tristan can’t protect her, then I will.’
