Chapter 423 - 421 Ending Early Isn’t Necessarily a Bad Thing
The next day, when Si Wen got up, she looked around but couldn’t see Xue Xing anywhere. "I don’t think I’ve seen Xue Xing today," she commented.
"Oh, Xing Zai went to school early this morning," Zhong Hailan replied. "He was supposed to go last night but had asked the school for one night’s leave."
"I see. Did he say anything this morning?"
"Not really. Anyway, his dad took him to school bright and early."
"Okay, thank you, Auntie Zhong."
Just as she was about to head back to her room, Yang Zhaodi came out, wheeling her bicycle.
"Good morning, Aunt Yang."
"Good morning. Well, I’m heading to work now. You all have a good time here."
After saying that, Yang Zhaodi hurried off, looking as if she didn’t want to make small talk with Si Wen.
So, Xue Xing’s mother really doesn’t like me, Si Wen realized.
Lin Xi didn’t know what to say either. It’s a bit of a shame. But then again, when you know something won’t end well, it’s not a bad thing to end it early, she thought.
Soon, August 8th arrived—the opening day of the Xi Yuan New Energy Vehicle Market.
It was a Sunday during the summer break, and the venue could only be described as a sea of people. Fortunately, Xue Yang had found more than enough help. While the scene was hectic, there was order amidst the chaos.
...
Meanwhile, far away in Yancheng at the Lin Corporation Building, Lin Zhenhai suddenly looked up and asked, "I hear Xue Yang’s New Energy Vehicle Market opened today?"
"That’s correct, Chairman. According to the schedule, the opening ceremony should be happening right now. Would you like to watch?"
Lin Zhenhai neither agreed nor disagreed. Seeing this, Li Wenjia knew Chairman Lin definitely wanted to see it.
She placed a laptop in front of Lin Zhenhai. On the screen, the opening ceremony of the Xi Yuan New Energy Vehicle Market was being live-streamed. His gaze immediately fell upon the two people standing in the center: Xue Yang and Lin Xi.
Lin Xi wore a vintage-style qipao that accentuated her exquisite figure. Her long hair was swept up with a jade hairpin, lending her an air of dignified grace that complemented her devastating beauty. She was unequivocally the focal point of the entire event; no one shone as brightly as she did. Because of her presence, what was expected to be a chaotic scene was miraculously orderly, saving the staff a great deal of trouble.
Besides the two of them, Tony and Jennifer were also present, along with a few unfamiliar faces who, according to the introductions, were prominent figures from Hui City, invited to add prestige to the event. An opening ceremony this important naturally required some prominent guests. Otherwise... well, those in the know understood. The fact that Xue Yang had managed to get them there spoke to his capabilities.
In reality, Xue Yang had simply sent them invitations. He had planned to personally invite them to dinner if they declined, but as it turned out, they all accepted, saving him the effort.
The emcee was giving a passionate introduction. When it was time for the ribbon-cutting, Xue Yang and Lin Xi held a single pair of scissors together and snipped the ceremonial ribbon, officially kicking off the grand opening.
Seeing the blissful look on Lin Xi’s face, Lin Zhenhai’s eyes narrowed slightly. Perhaps it’s time I met this Xue Yang, he thought.
...
While Lin Zhenhai was watching, Si Mingli was also keeping an eye on the grand opening ceremony.
"This kid really has some skill. He’s already managed to carve out a slice of the new energy pie this quickly."
"I heard Miss Si Wen went as well. I think I see her now," Su Xiaoqing said, suddenly pointing to a familiar figure on the screen.
Si Wen was seated in a primary spot at the opening ceremony, next to two people who bore a slight resemblance to Xue Yang. They appeared to be his parents. She was leaning in to chat with Zhong Hailan from time to time, looking quite excited.
"That girl... ditching the company to sneak off to Hui City. It seems she’s having a grand time. Is there anything out of the ordinary?"
Su Xiaoqing had considered mentioning Xue Xing but thought better of it. "Chairman, there is nothing unusual to report about the young lady. She has been staying at Xue Yang’s home with Miss Lin Xi, though Xue Yang himself is staying at his uncle’s house next door."
Si Mingli nodded, very satisfied with Xue Yang’s arrangement.
"Once she’s had her fun, have her come back."
"Yes, Chairman."
...
After the opening ceremony, it was time to introduce the new energy vehicles to the public. Thanks to the effective promotional campaign beforehand, the presentation went quite smoothly. Many people had already come prepared, eager to buy one and try it out. Cars are like phones; as long as there is demand, there will always be people willing to try something new, regardless of the type.
Sales on the first day were quite good, and Xue Yang couldn’t help but feel pleased. It would be a lie to say he wasn’t happy. This is the first business venture that’s truly my own. King’s Game was co-founded with Cui Hao and Yu Kexin. Without Yu Kexin’s technical skills, it might never have gotten off the ground. But this... this is entirely my own.
Just as he was lost in thought, an excited voice cried out, "Boss, where’s the lady boss?"
In a rare free moment, Sun Yufei had finally located Xue Yang and was calling out as she approached. "Boss, where is the lady boss?"
"Your eagerness to see her makes me question your motives," Xue Yang teased.
"Boss, don’t get me wrong! I absolutely adore the lady boss! I have to get a picture with her!"
I was too busy earlier and only got a glimpse from afar. Oh my god, she’s just too beautiful! If I can’t even get a photo with such a gorgeous woman, I’m not going to be okay for a while. I already missed my chance once. I’m not missing it again, no matter what!
"She’s with my parents. Don’t scare her, or I’ll dock your pay."
"Rest assured, Boss! If I scare the lady boss, I’ll dock my own pay! You won’t have to lift a finger!"
With that, Sun Yufei ran off. I have to find her quickly. The venue is so chaotic; the boss will definitely send her home soon.
In fact, Sun Yufei was right. Xue Yang was already arranging for someone to escort Lin Xi and his parents home because of the massive crowd. People who wanted to see the cars could come back in a few days.
Since Sun Yufei and Wu Xiaoya had arranged the seating, she naturally knew where Lin Xi was.
"Xiao Xi, there are too many people here. Stay right by Auntie’s side and don’t go anywhere," Zhong Hailan said, gripping Lin Xi’s hand tightly, afraid that one careless moment was all it would take to lose her in the crowd. In the past, with a crowd this large and a woman as beautiful as Lin Xi, it was entirely possible she could have been snatched away.
Si Wen was also sticking close to Zhong Hailan.
"You too, Si Wen. Don’t wander off, understand?" Zhong Hailan continued. "And you, old man, stop trying to look at the cars and watch the girls!"
"I know, I know. I’m not looking, am I?"
They had expected the opening ceremony to be lively, but they had never imagined it would be *this* lively.
