Chapter 752: Unaware of the True Person
"I can help you, but the Green Emperor Sect is a sect in Sea City. They might not think very highly of me," Yang Qi said with a smile.
In reality, he was just going to buy medicine anyway, so it didn’t matter who he helped. He was also curious about the abilities of the experts on the Martial Arts Overlord List, so he thought he might as well give it a try.
"That’s wonderful! As long as you agree, Commander Yang, our Green Emperor Sect is sure to achieve great results. I really wouldn’t have dared to trouble you if it weren’t for my master’s disappearance," Xu Yihan said sheepishly. "Actually, you might not even need to make a move. As long as you’re there to represent us, that will be enough."
Just then, a helicopter suddenly landed at the airport, and a group of people made their way straight to the training field.
The leader of the group was an elderly man, likely in his sixties or seventies, but he was very robust. He showed no sign of frailty. Brimming with Powerful Energy, his temples bulged noticeably. He strode as vigorously as a dragon or tiger, showing no trace of old age.
Four people followed behind him: a middle-aged man and three youths—two young men and a young woman. They all carried an air of unparalleled arrogance, as if they looked down on everyone. This was especially true for the three youths.
The woman was very beautiful. Although it was the modern era, she was dressed in ancient cultivation robes, making her look like she had time-traveled. She was probably in her early twenties. The two young men were slightly older but clearly under thirty. The middle-aged man appeared to be in his forties. All of them were Martial Artists.
"Great Elder!" Xu Yihan was stunned for a moment before rushing over. "What brings you all here? Have you accepted my proposal?"
She was immensely excited. While Yang Qi had gone to the Forbidden Land, she had already phoned the Green Emperor Sect to tell them about him. To show her respect for Yang Qi, she had even asked the Great Elder to come in person. To her surprise, the Great Elder had actually come.
"Martial Sister Yihan!" The three youths all cupped their hands in a salute to Xu Yihan.
Clearly, although Xu Yihan was from the Green Emperor Sect, she seemed to have a profound background, so they didn’t dare to be too presumptuous.
"Junior Martial Uncle, Senior Brothers, Junior Sister, you’re here too," Xu Yihan responded warmly. This woman was the type who couldn’t hide her emotions well—whatever she was thinking, she would show it.
"Martial Sister Yihan, where is this Commander Yang you told us about?" the girl asked excitedly.
Zhang Miaomiao was very curious, having heard Xu Yihan boast on the phone about Yang Qi’s incredible skills. Zhang Miaomiao was considered a rising star of the Green Emperor Sect. Although not as accomplished as Xu Yihan, she was still a Great Grandmaster-level genius. Of course, compared to Yang Qi, that seemed like nothing. Compared to the geniuses Yang Qi had encountered in the Forbidden Land, she was rather insignificant. But to reach the Great Grandmaster level in her twenties made her a true genius, a first-rate one even, just a single step away from the absolute top.
The other two young men were similar; both were talented and, therefore, a bit arrogant. They sought out Yang Qi, driven more by disbelief than mere curiosity.
"This is Commander Yang," Xu Yihan said, pointing to him. "Code name: The Madman!"
Seeing Yang Qi, the Great Elder and the middle-aged man both frowned.
Zhang Miaomiao said with theatrical disbelief, "Martial Sister Yihan, you can’t be joking. Is this guy really as incredible as you say? Judging by his age, he must be younger than me, right?"
"That’s not quite right. He looks seventeen or eighteen, but he’s actually twenty-five," Xu Yihan hurriedly explained.
The young man next to Zhang Miaomiao spoke even more disdainfully, "Martial Sister Yihan, can just any Tom, Dick, or Harry get a position in the War God Guard these days? Twenty-five years old? Even if he’s the top genius, how strong can he be? I doubt he’s even as strong as I am, Liu Yangeng! And you actually had the Great Elder and our Junior Martial Uncle come personally to invite him? What were you thinking?"
"Yihan, your Senior Brother Liu is right," the Great Elder glanced at Xu Yihan, not angry, but clearly displeased. "Even if he is a supreme genius, it would be fine for him to join our Green Emperor Sect as a disciple. But for him to come and act as our backer is something of a joke."
"Since the Great Elder has spoken, it must be correct. Yihan, try to be more reliable next time. Sigh, another wasted trip," the middle-aged man also said, disheartened.
Xu Yihan wanted to tell them that Yang Qi could fly, that he had stopped an airplane with one hand, but she didn’t dare. Yang Qi had told her that the matter could not be revealed to anyone. As a result, her face flushed red with frustration, and she didn’t know what to say.
"Great Elder, you must believe me! He really is very impressive. There are some things I can’t just blurt out because they are War God Guard secrets, but you must believe that with him here, no one can bully our Green Emperor Sect," Xu Yihan insisted, still trying to convince them.
"Hey, kid, how about a fight?"
Just then, Liu Yangeng suddenly looked at Yang Qi and shouted. At that moment, the entire training ground went quiet—no, it went dead silent.
Had this Liu Yangeng lost his mind? How dare he speak to their Deputy Commander of the War God Guard like that?
Xu Yihan was even more stunned. "Senior Brother, what are you doing? He is our Deputy Commander of the War God Guard! What do you mean ’kid’? Show some respect!"
By this time, Yang Qi had walked over. "Who is he to you?" he asked, his voice clearly tinged with displeasure.
"I am Liu Yangeng, a disciple of the Green Emperor Sect," the approximately twenty-eight-year-old youth said, looking at Yang Qi smugly. After all, he had a certain reputation in the Southern Territory’s Martial Arts World, so he hoped to see a shocked expression on Yang Qi’s face.
However, all he saw was indifference.
Yang Qi truly had never heard of any Liu Yangeng. He didn’t even know about the Green Emperor Sect, and he wasn’t pretending.
"Commander Yang, this is my Senior Brother, Liu Yangeng. He’s always had a high opinion of himself. Please forgive him if he has offended you," Xu Yihan quickly explained.
But Liu Yangeng was truly a liability.
He looked at Yang Qi coldly and said, "Kid, I heard you’re a good fighter. Even my junior sister admires you greatly. I don’t know how you tricked her, but today, I plan to teach you a lesson. You wouldn’t dare refuse my challenge, would you?"
"Shut up, Liu Yangeng! If you don’t want to die, then close that foul mouth of yours! Great Elder, please get a handle on Senior Brother Liu. No matter what, Commander Yang is the Deputy Commander of our War God Guard. He’s being far too disrespectful!" Xu Yihan tried to salvage the situation.
But the Great Elder simply said indifferently, "I don’t see anything wrong with what Liu Yangeng said. Since this is about a duel, we should follow the rules of the Jianghu. Why bring up his title as Deputy Commander? Are you trying to use authority to suppress him?"
PFFT! Xu Yihan was about to die from anger. This stubborn old man!
Yang Qi sneered and said to Xu Yihan, "You don’t have to bother. I see now that the Green Emperor Sect had no real intention of inviting me to act as its backer. If that’s the case, let’s just forget about it."
